Chapter 165: Liar
by tinytreeShi Ji was really fed up with that little brat. Why didn’t she say something earlier? She wasted so much time.
He hadn’t expected that within the one hour he had been away something like this would happen. Thinking about it, it made sense. With Lin Xinyan’s stubborn determination, she’d keep charging ahead even if she were seriously injured, as long as she could still move.
Shi Ji respected Lin Xinyan’s persistence, but rushing ahead without thinking? That’s just reckless.
His expression was now much more serious, no longer carefree like before. His face was tense, and his eyes showed obvious concern as he sprinted toward the area where Lin Xinyan was.
“Damn it… damn it. Xinyan, you better be okay.”
As he rushed over, Shi Ji tried contacting Lin Xinyan through the communicator.
He didn’t know her exact location, and more importantly, he needed to know how badly she was hurt.
But when he called, to his surprise, it was answered after just two seconds.
Shi Ji didn’t waste any time, immediately asking about her condition.
“Xinyan, how are you? Are you seriously hurt? Where are you? Hold on, I’m coming right now!”
He was unusually emotional, which wasn’t his usual style.
Then, on the other end, Lin Xinyan’s voice came through, calm and casual.
“Huh?” She sounded perfectly fine, even a little puzzled. “I’m doing great! Everything’s normal here. I’m just buying some ice cream from a vending machine. What’s up with you? You sound weird.”
Upon hearing this, Shi Ji came to a screeching halt. He realized what had happened.
“Shi Ji? Why aren’t you saying anything? What’s going on?”
“Oh… nothing, nothing. Just checking in on you. I’ll come find you soon,” Shi Ji said, laughing awkwardly, then quickly hung up the call.
But the moment the call ended, the smile vanished from his face. Shi Ji clenched his jaw in frustration.
With his right hand balled into a fist, he punched a nearby tree in the landscaped area by the roadside.
Boom!
“That damn brat. She fooled me! I’ll deal with her later.”
Just as he said that, he heard a rustling sound that left him dumbfounded.
He turned to look at the row of trees, one by one, they all fell over. Even though only one tree had taken the full force of his punch, the shockwave had knocked down the entire row of trees.
Shi Ji stood there in confusion. He glanced around to make sure no one had seen, then casually walked away, pretending like nothing had happened.
After this incident, Shi Ji decided it was best to stick close to Lin Xinyan. As for the reason, maybe it was just that he didn’t want to see her in danger or getting hurt.

Elsewhere, Jing Xin’s battle with the Wasteland Wolf had already begun.
To protect the civilians in the hospital, Jing Xin had intercepted the Wasteland Wolf mid-route.
As one of the few with a dual Starborn Physique, combining the Soldier and Cannon classes, Jing Xin’s immense power had earned her a high standing within the Star Alliance.
The Wasteland Wolf was incredibly fast, well-suited for combat in this type of environment. Even if it couldn’t win, the tall buildings provided the perfect cover for a quick escape.
After forcing the Wasteland Wolf to stop, Jing Xin didn’t immediately attack.
They stood twenty meters apart, facing each other.
“This is the end for you. Any last words?” Jing Xin asked.
The Wasteland Wolf stared at her and suddenly began to laugh.
“You really think you can stop me? You’re welcome to try.”
