Chapter 257: Not a Goddess, But a Temptress
by tinytreeOutside the office building in Bencheng City.
“Ah?!”
Spotting Xiao Yu in his police uniform, flashing that sunny smile, Mu Qingwu’s eyes lit up with joy and surprise as she rushed over.
“Whoa, hold on, you little troublemaker. Don’t run!”
Xiao Yu quickly moved to her side, his heart skipping a beat in panic. He gently wrapped her in his arms and scolded her softly, “You’re pregnant, remember? Be careful.”
“Hehe!”
Mu Qingwu clung tightly to his waist, her face radiating happiness as she breathed in his familiar scent.
A slight smile appeared on Bai Ting’s usually expressionless face as the bodyguard watched them from a distance.
For some reason, maybe it was the sunset’s glow, or maybe just the moment, but the couple standing there seemed almost surreal. Bathed in the golden light, they looked pure and untouched, like a scene out of a dream.

In the car.
“Hm?”
Holding his wife, who was now snuggled up like a little kitten, Xiao Yu leaned back and closed his eyes to relax, a playful smile tugging at his lips.
“Why are you staring at me like that?” he asked.
He remembered when he first met her—back then, she came across as a total ice queen. Then, as they spent more time together, she became more like a boss lady.
After getting closer, she even had the air of a queen. Later, she softened, turning into that gentle big-sister-next-door type.
And now, she was like a sweet, delicate woman clinging to him.
Was this what people meant when they talked about those flawless goddesses who never needed a bathroom break?
“Your eyelashes are so long, little brother.”
Mu Qingwu blinked her beautiful eyes, smiling like a lotus flower blooming.
“Haha…” Xiao Yu chuckled, still keeping his eyes closed. “Anything else?”
Xiao Yu teased, holding his sister close.
Mu Qingwu’s eyes sparkled with a seductive charm. “Your lips are really nice too.”
“Do you like them?” Xiao Yu asked, still holding her.
“Mhm.” She nodded softly.
“Do you think our baby will be as handsome as his dad?” Xiao Yu smiled, looking down at her. “Or as beautiful as her mom?”
“Your mom said it’s probably going to be a boy.” Mu Qingwu smiled sweetly.
“Not necessarily.” Xiao Yu kissed her gently on the forehead. “Maybe it’ll be a cute little girl.”
“If it’s a girl, do you think your mom will be disappointed?” Mu Qingwu asked, a hint of concern in her voice.
“Disappointed? Our mom?” Xiao Yu shook his head. “Whether it’s a boy or a girl, she’ll love them to bits.”
“And you?” Mu Qingwu’s gaze softened, her eyes filled with warmth.
“A little princess? You think I wouldn’t adore her?” Xiao Yu grinned. “Just worried she might let in a little cold draft.”
“Haha!” Mu Qingwu playfully hit him, giggling.
Once they got home, Mu Qingwu helped him take off his police uniform jacket. Xiao Yu headed straight to the kitchen. Every time he came back from work, he’d cook for her. And Mu Qingwu would always be there by his side, helping out however she could.
It was their little tradition, their way of enjoying each other’s company. Something that never changed.
Meanwhile, Bai Ting had quietly left, giving the couple their private time.

“Sis, I can only stay with you for one day,” Xiao Yu said apologetically while they ate. “I have to head to the provincial city tomorrow.”
“It’s okay,” Mu Qingwu smiled, her face full of happiness as she placed food on his plate. “I’ve got the baby to keep me company, and when you’re away, Mom and Mother-in-law are always here too.”
Xiao Yu smirked mischievously, “They haven’t been giving you a hard time, have they?”
“Stop talking nonsense.” Mu Qingwu shot him a playful glare. “Can’t even keep quiet during dinner?”
Of course they gave her a hard time. Ever since she got pregnant, she felt both incredibly happy and a little frustrated. The two elders treated her like a delicate child, fussing over everything. Don’t do this, don’t touch that—suddenly, she was ten times more precious, practically turning into a beautiful porcelain vase.
After dinner, the couple teased each other while tidying up. After the dishes were done, they embraced once more.
“Sis,” Xiao Yu looked at the woman in his arms, “Did you miss me?”
“Take a guess,” Mu Qingwu buried her face into his chest.
“Can I not guess?” Xiao Yu grinned.
“Sure, but you’ll have to figure out a way to make me happy,” Mu Qingwu lifted her gorgeous, flirtatious face. “If you don’t know how, I’ll teach you.”
“Haha!” Xiao Yu laughed softly as he gently picked her up and carried her towards the bedroom.
At that moment, he seriously wanted to tie himself down.

As night fell, the couple lay in bed, wrapped in each other’s arms, quietly gazing out the window. The crescent moon hung in the sky, and countless stars glittered like scattered pearls, casting a silver glow across the night.
“Do you think there are gods in the sky?” Mu Qingwu rested her head on Xiao Yu’s shoulder, her dreamy eyes fixed on the moon. “Is there really a moon palace up there?”
“If there are gods…” Xiao Yu smirked. “I bet they’re lonely and don’t have it nearly as good as we do.”
“Then…” Mu Qingwu wanted to ask something else.
“Mu Qingwu, it’s late. We should get some rest,” Xiao Yu said, holding her gently. “Even if we’re not sleepy, our baby needs to sleep.”
“Oh.” Mu Qingwu pouted, her lips temptingly red. “Say goodnight to me, but make it poetic.”
Xiao Yu, “…”
“Come on, hurry up,” Mu Qingwu teased with a satisfied grin.
“Uhh… let me think,” Xiao Yu wracked his brain before blinking and finally said, “The mountains and rivers are at rest, it’s time to sleep. Though we share the same bed, let’s dream together.”
Mu Qingwu smiled, closing her eyes contentedly as she rested against his arm.
Xiao Yu, still holding her close, had a mischievous glint in his eye. He couldn’t let this go unchallenged.
“Sis,” he whispered with a smirk, “I’ve discovered a little secret.”
“What secret?” Mu Qingwu’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Call me ‘Daddy,’ and I’ll tell you,” Xiao Yu said with a completely serious, stern expression.
Mu Qingwu narrowed her eyes. “Daddy!”
“Haha!” Xiao Yu burst out laughing, winking playfully. “The secret is… you’re not really mine.”
“Heh,” Mu Qingwu gave him a look like she was staring at a fool, her smile calm.
Xiao Yu pouted, feeling deflated. “Sis, you’re always too smart, it’s no fun.”
“Didn’t I call you just now?” Mu Qingwu leaned in, giving him a soft kiss. “Being too greedy isn’t good.”
“I don’t care,” Xiao Yu huffed, pretending to be mad—the kind of mad that wouldn’t go away without at least a hundred kisses.
With a light chuckle, Mu Qingwu’s face softened into a motherly kind of tenderness. Her lips brushed close to his ear as she whispered, “Please, take control of everything, my master.”
Hiss… Xiao Yu sucked in a breath.
Not a goddess… she’s a temptress.
