Chapter 16: The Strange Little Girl

The sudden attack from the little girl caught Shi Ji by surprise. Her speed and strength were equally astonishing. The wind generated by her kick was strong as it came at him.

As the sweeping kick came, Shi Ji pushed off with his feet, his body performing a powerful backflip, avoiding the attack. He landed on his toes, only to be met with another gust of wind from the front.

He had already noted the girl’s impressive speed. This level of quickness was commendable.

Her attacks were swift and precise. From her moves and expression, it was clear she was serious. Though she held back a little, it wasn’t much.

“You little brat, are you deliberately picking a fight with me?” Shi Ji said.

Dodging wasn’t a solution. Shi Ji understood the temperament of children well. Facing the incoming attack, he decided not to dodge. He extended one hand, shifted his body, and used his arm to block the attack.

The girl didn’t let up. After the first kick failed, she spun and delivered another airborne kick, which Shi Ji blocked again.

Shi Ji stood his ground, calmly facing the girl’s attacks, all the while smiling at her.

Despite her relentless assault, the girl couldn’t break through Shi Ji’s defense. Her attacks grew stronger in both force and speed. Though the fight involved only fists and feet, thick waves of air swirled around them from their movements.

Eventually, the girl, frustrated by her unsuccessful attacks, stepped back and stopped.

Shi Ji had no intention of being harsh with a little girl. Otherwise, he would have fought back long ago.

Shi Ji acknowledged the girl’s strength. It was impressive.

“Little girl, you’re quite ruthless for your age. I just asked a question. How did I offend you? If you don’t want to answer, fine, but why resort to violence? So immature.”

The girl maintained her stance, habitually crossing her arms over her chest.

“Are you the first Soldier-rank student expelled from the Star Hero Academy, Shi Ji?” Her tone was still stern but slightly softened.

Hearing his name surprised Shi Ji. But then he realized that being the first to be expelled was a dubious honor known to many.

Shi Ji was straightforward. Given the girl’s earlier attitude, she didn’t seem inclined to answer his questions. So, he decided not to waste any more words and walked ahead to see if he could find someone else.

As Shi Ji passed by the girl, she didn’t try to stop him. In fact, she followed him.

After walking a few steps, Shi Ji stopped.

“Why are you following me? We don’t even know each other.”

The girl let out a cold snort.

“Hmph!”

Given her appearance, stature, and delicate voice, it seemed as if she was pouting like a spoiled child.

Shi Ji said nothing more and continued walking. Time was precious. He needed to complete the procedures today or risk sleeping on the streets tonight. He didn’t have time to bicker with the girl.

Shi Ji walked on, and the girl kept following him.

For a long time, neither spoke.

During this time, Shi Ji still didn’t see anyone else. It felt as though Yinshuang Academy was a deserted city.

A person’s patience has limits, and Shi Ji was starting to get irritated.
