Chapter 54: Rank Confirmation
by tinytreeSeeing this man, Lin Xinyan was puzzled. She didn’t seem to recognize him. Could he be someone who knew her from magazines or TV?
The man walked over with big strides, smiling brightly and cheerfully.
“Hey! You look so surprised. Don’t you remember me? Haha! No wonder, I was wearing a full mech suit back then.”
As soon as the man said this, Lin Xinyan quickly understood.
“Oh! I know now, you’re Alloy.”
The man laughed heartily. “Haha, you finally got it. I only wear the mech suit during battles. It’s not convenient to wear it while walking around. Hey, I heard you talking about canceling your A-rank promotion. What happened?”
Lin Xinyan didn’t hide anything and quickly explained the situation to Alloy, though she didn’t go into much detail.
After hearing the explanation, Alloy turned his attention to Shi Ji, who was lounging and chuckling on the side. A look of surprise crossed his face.
This person was unfamiliar to him, and he hadn’t heard of him before. Alloy was a straightforward person and knew that many skilled individuals hadn’t registered as professional heroes. So, he didn’t think much of it.
Shifting his gaze back to the staff member, he spoke, “Let’s finalize the ranking. I can vouch for Lin Xinyan’s strength. The gatekeeper wouldn’t be able to defeat her anyway.”
Just two days ago, Alloy had successfully advanced to an A-rank hero. Thus, his words carried a certain weight in the Star Alliance.
Lin Xinyan was taken aback.
“That’s not right. If I haven’t fought, how can it be considered legitimate?”
Alloy laughed, “You’re too honest. Trust me, with your strength, you definitely qualify for A-rank. Let’s settle it this way.”
Lin Xinyan fell silent, casting a glance at Shi Ji beside her, saying nothing more.
Her promotion to A-rank was thus finalized, without any further changes.
Advancing from B-rank to A-rank felt surreal. It seemed like she had relied on others’ help to get there. Lin Xinyan couldn’t help but feel a bit uneasy inside.
Alloy had other matters to attend to and left first. With everything resolved, Lin Xinyan had no reason to stay. Today was the last day of their practical training, and they were scheduled to return to school in the afternoon, with regular classes resuming the next day. With some free time, Lin Xinyan decided to explore the city. Now that Shi Ji was with her, refusing wasn’t an option.
Shortly after, the two reached the entrance, ready to leave.
Just then, a tall, dark-skinned man with black hair, wearing a brown trench coat, walked by.
This man was none other than Hei Long, the director of the Anomaly Monitoring Center.
Seeing Hei Long, Lin Xinyan immediately stopped and greeted him politely.
“Professor Hei Long.”
Hei Long looked over and smiled. “Oh, it’s you.”
Hei Long had previously taught at Yinshuang Academy, so he recognized Lin Xinyan.
“How’s your injury?”
Lin Xinyan shook her head. “Thank you for your concern, Professor. I’m fully recovered.”
“Good. With your points up, you should be advancing to A-rank.”
“Yes, today I came here for the promotion. It’s already settled.”
Lin Xinyan was one of Hei Long’s former students. Seeing his student now as an A-rank hero, Hei Long was pleased.
“Very good, very good. The younger generation is pushing forward. At this rate, you’ll surpass me in no time.”
“You flatter me, Professor.”
“Anyway, keep up the good work. I have important matters to attend to, so I won’t keep you. Say hello to Jing Xin for me when you return.”
After parting ways, Hei Long reached the main entrance, but he couldn’t help turning back to look at the young man standing beside Lin Xinyan. He stared for a moment before finally looking away.
