The Police family program inspectors stood tall in their matching uniforms, heads held high.

In stark contrast, the Hahabaye Tribe moved with bent backs, bows in hand, poised to strike at any moment.

The difference between the two was so sharp that it had the live-stream audience laughing out loud.

“Hahaha, the contrast between these two teams is killing me!”

“Unreal! This is a dream crossover. Feels like a tribal warrior squad facing off against a high-tech modern alliance!”

“No kidding, it really does give that ancient-meets-modern vibe. I wonder whose combat power is higher?”

“Obviously, the Police family! They’ve got drone surveillance. I’ve watched Hahabaye’s stream before…”

“You won’t believe it, they rely on their leader’s divinations. The divination tool is literally those animal fangs they wear around their necks!”

“Wait, what? Hahaha! I’m dying! So, what’s their success rate?”

“When it comes to the divine, better to believe than doubt. Sure, they use methods we can’t understand, but they do catch fugitives. They’re currently ranked seventh!”

“Seventh? Not bad at all. It’s impressive, actually!”

For once, the live-stream chat wasn’t full of arguments.

Instead, everyone disarmed their usual keyboard battles and was discussing with genuine interest the unusual team pairing.

Meanwhile, the Dragon Country squad had arrived.

Wu Yaoming’s group was a bit slower than some of the others, but that didn’t matter. They hadn’t planned to rush in first anyway. Instead, they were watching from a street away.

They weren’t the only ones observing. The Sakura Country team was there as well.

This season, Sakura Country had barely been on camera, and their streams were sparsely watched, mostly by their own citizens. Their disastrous loss last season, combined with a few embarrassing blunders, had driven away much of their audience.

They’d learned their lesson this time, keeping close behind the Dragon Country team, mirroring their every move.

Where Dragon Country went, they went. At the very least, following them meant a chance to grab scraps.

They also wanted to break into the Dragon Country market, so they had to win back favor with its viewers. This season, Sakura Country was humble and deferential, though that didn’t mean many people trusted them.

“How’s the situation on-site? Can you see anything through the windows? Did you ask the landlady which rooms they’re in?”

Zhao Youcheng’s voice came over the radio, live-feeding questions.

Wu Yaoming’s helmet cam was streaming back to Captain Zhao, but even so, Zhao Youcheng wanted to confirm verbally. He was tense—visibly so.

“No. The curtains are all drawn, and I’ve seen several teams try questioning her already. No one got anything. Looks like the landlady’s in league with Wang Yun,” Wu Yaoming said; his tone was grave.

Beside him, Wu Mingyu nodded. “Wang Yun’s good at getting into people’s heads. The landlady’s probably convinced, which is why she’s not giving up the room number. The guesthouse has three floors, but I’d guess they’re on the third, the top floor. Less exposed than the others.”

Wu Mingyu laid out his reasoning.

    But Zhao Youcheng disagreed.

“If you can think of that, so can Wang Yun. He’ll have chosen something unexpected, the second floor. And if the stairs are blocked in an emergency, it’s still low enough for a quick escape.”

Hearing that, Wu Yaoming nodded. “Fair point. Fine, we’ll let others go in first. Once they enter, we’ll know which floor he’s on. My job now is to sit here and wait for the rabbit; he will try to bolt.”

The air was thick with tension inside the guesthouse. Even Thirteen, usually expressionless, was frowning.

“Boss, it’s too quiet downstairs. It feels wrong.”

“There’s no need to guess, they’ve already surrounded us.”

Old Hu had barely finished when Ying Yuezi spoke, her voice serious.

She’d sneaked a look earlier. There wasn’t a soul in plain view, but at every corner and alley mouth, the shadows had given them away.

“So what now? The car’s parked in the back lot,” Big Mouth said, starting to panic.

They’d definitely need the car to get out, but in the rush earlier, it had been left in the backyard. If they were surrounded, it wouldn’t get out.

“It’s fine. We stick to the plan. I’ll have the landlady move the car.”

“The landlady? She’ll help us?” Xiao Gang asked automatically. Wang Yun just smiled and nodded.

“The landlady’s one of us now.”

He stepped into the hallway and called out.

Sure enough, less than twenty seconds later, the landlady came hurrying up, excitement written all over her face.

“Little brother, what do you need?”

“Big sis, could you move the car from the backyard to this spot? Then wait here for me, I’ll come find you. I’ve stirred up trouble outside, someone’s trying to catch me, and I need to run. Honestly, it’s all because of a mahjong game. They set me up, but I turned it around and won. Now they’re holding a grudge,” Wang Yun lied without missing a beat.

The moment she heard it, the landlady’s expression turned fierce.

“Fuck! I knew something was off with all those people asking for you at the front desk! Don’t worry, this time I’ll help you. You’re a good man!”
