Chapter 738: Chickens Lost, Rice Spilled, a Perilous Escape!
by tinytreeJack hesitated. The pit he had dug was too deep, and he couldn’t tell if the Qiqiha captain down inside had really passed out or not.
He leaned over the rim cautiously, testing the waters, and called out, “Captain, you alright?”
Even as he spoke, he bent down and picked up a stone from the side. It wasn’t very big, but tossed in from here, it could still hurt someone.
The moment the livestream viewers saw this, the comments went wild.
“Damn, is Jack seriously gonna drop a stone on him? That’s careful to the extreme!”
“Careful is the only way! That’s the Qiqiha captain down there. Look, he’s already got his pistol aimed at the rim. The moment Jack shows his head, he’s a dead man!”
“Haha, the two of them scheming against each other like this is hilarious!”
“Bet the Qiqiha captain never thought Jack would be this cautious!”
The barrage of comments scrolled on and on, but Jack didn’t stop.
He lifted the stone, hovering at the edge of the trap.
Inside, the captain of the Qiqiha team stayed silent. He just held his pistol steady, aiming upward.
Even he wasn’t sure if this bluff of his could actually fool Jack.
Jack stared at the stillness in the trap. He clenched his teeth, ready to throw. But again he hesitated. Sticking his head out was too risky. Dropping the stone blind might be safer.
Just as he drew back to toss it—
There was a noise behind him.
The inspectors had finally caught up, gasping for breath as they hurried closer.
Jack sighed quietly. He had no choice but to give it up.
Program rules meant he couldn’t pick up anything too heavy. A small stone like this might wound, but it couldn’t kill.
If he jumped down into the pit rashly, and the Qiqiha captain wasn’t really “dead,” he’d pay for it.
Thinking that through, Jack let out another sigh and, without even glancing back, bolted for the outside.
Without the Qiqiha captain in direct pursuit, he still had hope. If he kept a low profile and moved carefully, maybe he could slip past the inspectors outside. As for the ones chasing him inside, they were already worn out and couldn’t keep up anymore.

By the time the inspection squad surrounded the pit from behind, Jack was long gone.
All that was left inside was their captain. Not a trace of Jack remained.
“Captain! Captain, are you alright?”
Hearing his own men’s voices around him, the Qiqiha captain finally let out a long breath of relief.
He holstered his pistol. “Nothing serious. I twisted my ankle…”
Then he remembered Jack and hurried to ask, “Where’s the fugitive?”
The program’s inspection squad couldn’t see even a shadow of Jack anymore.
As they hauled the Qiqiha captain out of the pit, they shook their heads.
“We didn’t see him.”
Balancing on one leg, the other dangling, the Qiqiha captain leaned on a teammate and let out a heavy sigh.
“Damn it, he got away.”

Jack, on his side, was still in a state of panic.
Wang Yun and his group, on the other hand, were sitting around a meal, chatting and laughing.
The hideout Wang Yun had chosen wasn’t a place the inspectors could find easily.
On the road earlier, they’d run into Shadow Moon Squad, but that encounter had ended with plenty of equipment falling into their hands.
With that gear, plus the traps Wang Yun had set around the area, catching him was close to impossible.
Big Mouth was at it again, bragging to the others.
“At that time, I went one-on-many against dozens of Shadow Moon fighters all by myself. Don’t even ask how dangerous it was. Good thing I’m quick-witted. With my movement skills, I slipped past dozens of them chasing me down. And then, with the boss backing me up, we turned it all around!”
Thirteen curled his lip and shot him a glance. Not a single word of that was believable.
Old Hu chuckled. “Even when you’re eating, you can’t shut that mouth of yours?”
Wang Yun listened to their chatter with a grin of his own. He had no intention of curbing Big Mouth’s habits.
After all, everyone likes to talk themselves up. Not many can actually back it up.
Just then Xiao Gang picked up some food, leaned closer to Wang Yun, and asked, “Boss, are you really planning to enter Brother Luo’s modification tournament?”
Wang Yun took a sip of tea and smiled.
“What, you interested too?”
Xiao Gang shook his head. “Not that, boss. It’s just… we’re fugitives right now. If we keep showing our faces everywhere, won’t that be a problem?”
“He’s right, boss. The inspectors are hunting for us all over the place. If we go show up at a tournament now, what if we get caught?” Old Hu nodded in agreement.
Old Hu knew well enough what Wang Yun was capable of. He didn’t truly believe Wang Yun could be taken down, but being careful was never a bad thing.
And Wang Yun understood their concerns.
But first, he had already promised Old Luo. Second, he had confidence in his own strength. And third, this was something he absolutely had to do.
Thinking of this, Wang Yun smiled and said, “Those inspectors aren’t worth worrying about. Relax. Nothing’s going to happen to us.”
