    Chapter Index

Wang Yun let out a light chuckle.

    “Do you know Colin?”

Director Zhou thought for a moment, then remembered. He was just an ordinary little punk, yet he had managed to last until now.

Director Zhou had always assumed he had some special method. But Wang Yun was implying Colin had been controlled.

A bad feeling rose in Director Zhou’s chest.

Wang Yun’s next words confirmed it.

“A bar owner tricked him into signing a slave contract. Now he’s fighting underground matches for him, and his next fight could cost him his life.”

    “What?”

Director Zhou jolted to his feet in shock.

    Underground fighting? Life-threatening danger?

This was just a TV show. How could something this serious happen?

Director Zhou’s vision went dark for a moment.

Then he took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down.

Since Wang Yun had brought up a deal, he definitely had a way. He wiped the sweat that had suddenly broken out on his forehead.

“How did you find out about this?”

“You know someone saved me today, right? That’s how Big Mouth and I got away.” Wang Yun sounded as if he had expected the question.

On the other end, Director Zhou silently nodded.

“I saw that footage. Don’t tell me the one who saved you was Colin. Didn’t you just say he’s being controlled?”

Wang Yun could not help rolling his eyes.

“When I say controlled, I mean he can’t leave. He still has basic freedom.”

Only then did Director Zhou’s heart ease slightly from his throat.

“Then what do you mean, his life is in danger?”

Seeing that Director Zhou had regained a bit of composure, Wang Yun continued, “His boss signed him up for the next match. His opponent is Achir.”

The moment the name fell, Director Zhou’s heart shot up again. His face turned pale, his heart pounding wildly.

Seeing something was wrong, the assistant beside him hurried over with fast-acting heart pills.

After taking a sip of water and swallowing the medicine, Director Zhou finally managed to catch his breath.

“Is it the Achir I’m thinking of?” he asked Wang Yun in a near-desperate whisper

Wang Yun only answered softly, “Mm.”

Director Zhou took several deep breaths. It took him a long while to steady himself, and then, clinging to the last shred of hope, he asked quietly,

“Wang Yun… since you’re talking about a deal, do you have some way to stop this match?”

Wang Yun replied cleanly with one word, “No.”

Director Zhou’s last hope was shattered. His whole body went limp, and he collapsed back into his chair.

Then he heard Wang Yun add calmly, “But I do have a way to keep him from fighting.”

Director Zhou’s deadened heart sprang back to life.

“What did you say?” he asked in disbelief.

Wang Yun stopped beating around the bush and explained everything directly.

“I’ve already talked to his boss. I’ll fight in his place. If I win, Colin goes free.”

Director Zhou nearly lost his breath again. The assistant at his side hurriedly patted his back, helping him breathe.

    Director Zhou was furious.

That Achir had fought many matches. He practically never lost. And as a man from Dragon Country, he was at a disadvantage physically. Even though he knew Wang Yun was skilled, he still didn’t dare let him fight Achir.

    If something happened…

    This show would be finished.

Director Zhou felt despair creeping in.

Then he heard Wang Yun softly try to reassure him.

“Director Zhou, calm down. Your health comes first. Don’t worry, I can definitely beat him.”

Director Zhou didn’t believe it for a second. He assumed Wang Yun was just comforting him. He sat there limp in his chair for a long time.

Finally, he hesitated and said, “How about… we call the police?”

“I will call the police. Don’t worry. But not right now. After the match, I’ll report it anonymously.” Wang Yun refused.

“You really have the confidence to win?” Director Zhou asked suspiciously.

“Yes,” Wang Yun said with absolute certainty.

Director Zhou knew Wang Yun had always been reliable. He wouldn’t do something he wasn’t confident in.

If he said he was confident, then maybe he really could win.

Still, Director Zhou’s heart remained uneasy. He steeled himself, gritted his teeth, and made a decision.

“It’s not going to be easy to convince the Hahabaye Tribe to give up their advantage but as long as you get Colin out, I’ll give you Big Mouth’s antidote.”

That was exactly what Wang Yun had been waiting for.

    “Deal,” he said crisply.

    Director Zhou wasn’t like Baren.

Baren might go back on his word. But Director Zhou wouldn’t. If he said it, he would do it.

So after getting Director Zhou’s promise, Wang Yun immediately felt much lighter.

    He ended the call.

On the other side, Director Zhou remained slumped in his chair for a long time. He didn’t know whether what he had done was right or wrong. But he was still willing to trust that young man—the one who had been breaking records from the very beginning.

Meanwhile, Big Mouth—who had been eavesdropping—was standing there completely petrified.

He stared at his boss with disbelief.

Only when he saw Wang Yun stand up did Big Mouth subconsciously raise his thumb in a huge thumbs-up.

Then he jogged back to the bed and flopped down in one smooth motion.
