Chapter 873: Fine. I Agree.
by tinytree“Alright, alright, Brother Wang Yun, go ahead.” Baren nodded repeatedly without hesitation.
Wang Yun gave a slight nod, then spoke slowly, “First. As we agreed before, if I fight in his place, the contract you signed with him is void.”
Baren nodded. That part he had already promised.
“Second. I won’t fight for you for free. I don’t care about the wager between you and Walter, but the prize money from the match belongs to me.”
Baren nodded again. That was a minor matter.
“Third. I won’t fight in that.”
Wang Yun pointed at the cage below.
He could fight for others to watch. But he would not fight like an animal, locked in a cage for people’s amusement. Those were two entirely different things.
Baren froze. He had expected Wang Yun’s conditions wouldn’t be simple, but he hadn’t imagined it would be this.
Removing the cage was no small request. It wasn’t something an ordinary guest could decide.
Baren hesitated.
The owner of the Blood Banquet was extremely mysterious.
This place had been hosting matches for many years. Yet no one had ever uncovered who stood behind it. Some had tried to investigate the owner, but nothing came of it.
Others had caused trouble here.
There were rumors that even the son of a wealthy magnate had tried. In the end, he had left in disgrace.
It was clear enough that whoever ran this place was not someone to provoke. Baren had no desire to deal with a person like that.
Seeing the hesitation in Baren’s expression, Wang Yun remained calm and added lightly,
“If you can’t do it, that’s fine. We’ll just treat this as a visit. You can go find someone else to fight for you.”
With that, he turned as if to leave.
That single move instantly shook Baren. He clenched his teeth, steeled himself, and made his decision.
“Fine. I agree!” Then he added quickly, “But Brother Wang Yun, you promised you’ll win.”
Wang Yun nodded calmly. “Don’t worry. If I say I’ll win, then I will.”
Only then did Baren finally feel his heart settle.
But soon after, a new problem arose in his mind. How was he supposed to convince the owner here to remove the cage?
It wouldn’t be easy. But compared to losing everything, this difficulty meant nothing.
“Then, Brother Wang Yun, let’s head down and take a look. After we’re done, I’ll go handle it.”
Wang Yun nodded.
The group followed Baren down from the viewing stands and onto the competition floor. There would only be one match tomorrow night.
Wang Yun versus Achir.
Matches were held once every two days, and anyone could sign up to participate. But no one had ever been like Achir to fight six consecutive fights and have six consecutive victories.
They stood below, looking up at the elevated cage arena.
Wang Yun stood quietly, his gaze falling on the angel statue at his feet. Its eyes were closed in silent prayer.
Was it redemption?
Perhaps victory here had indeed helped a small number of people. But far more had lost everything. Families broken. Lives ruined.
The people in the stands were wrapped in elegance, feasting on bread soaked in human blood.
Wang Yun couldn’t help but wonder the reason no one dared to cause trouble here. Perhaps the one behind this place wasn’t just a single person. One person alone couldn’t wield such power.
A faint anticipation stirred in him.
Once this place was exposed, how many would fall from their lofty heights?
Just standing here made Colin uncomfortable.
It felt as though the air itself carried a faint, unpleasant scent of blood. He had participated in quite a few underground matches recently. But never had a place like this made him feel such cold, suffocating menace just by looking at the ring.
That faint trace of blood in the air sent a chill through him, raising goosebumps along his arms.
He rubbed his forearms and said to Wang Yun, “Brother Wang Yun, let’s go back up.”
Wang Yun nodded.
He had seen enough. There was nothing worth staying for.
What he needed now was a way to expose this place to the production team.
Seeing Wang Yun agree, the group felt as if they had been granted a reprieve. They quickly made their way back up to the stands.
Only after putting distance between themselves and the arena did they feel a little better.
“Why would anyone have such twisted tastes as watching people beat each other bloody?” Colin asked, puzzled.
Wang Yun glanced at him, his expression turning serious.
“Because those people aren’t human.”
Baren led them to the entrance, then stopped. Turning around, he instructed the two bodyguards, “You two escort Mr. Wang Yun and Brother Colin back to rest. I still have something to handle here.”
The two nodded.
“Understood, boss.”
Baren nodded, then looked at Wang Yun.
“Brother Wang Yun, head back early and get some rest. Don’t worry, I’ll handle this matter for you no matter what.”
Wang Yun nodded.
“Alright. Thank you.”
Baren waved his hand, then turned and walked deeper into the stands.
Meanwhile, under the escort of the bodyguards, Wang Yun returned to the hotel.
The moment Big Mouth saw them come back, he deliberately ignored Colin and immediately started bombarding Wang Yun with questions.
Spending the entire day cooped up in the hotel had nearly driven him mad. He was still in his “poisoned” state and couldn’t go out freely. So he had been stuck alone in the room. But his curiosity about where Wang Yun had gone had only grown stronger.
It was driving him crazy—like a cat scratching at his insides.
