Chapter 874: If He Won’t Go, I’ll Fight in His Place

Big Mouth kept circling around Wang Yun, chattering nonstop.

“Boss, Boss, what was that place like? Was it really cool?”

Wang Yun looked up at him and said softly, “It was a very bloody place.”

Big Mouth didn’t quite understand what Wang Yun meant. But seeing that Wang Yun had no intention of explaining, he stopped asking.

By now, the video in Wang Yun’s livestream had returned, and the viewers were all discussing why the feed had suddenly cut out.

“Did you guys see that? That Blood Banquet place looked so oppressive!”

“Yeah, yeah! I only saw the gate for a second, and all the hair on my body stood on end!”

“What kind of place was that? It looked terrifying!”

“Big Brother isn’t really going to compete in there, is he??”

“He probably is!”

“My god, if just one gate feels that oppressive, what must the inside be like?”

“In that instant before the screen cut out, I think I saw angels, demons, and a huge iron cage!”

“An iron cage??? What’s that for??”

“Animal fighting? I’ve only seen that on TV!”

“In a cage? Could they humiliate people any more than that?”

“Definitely not. If that were the case, who would even go? That would be treating people like less than human!”

Everyone was still discussing that mysterious place. But it would not remain mysterious for much longer for Wang Yun.

After thinking it over, he took the initiative to contact Director Zhou.

Before long, Director Zhou’s voice came through.

“What happened? Why did you lose signal? The technicians here haven’t been able to get in touch with you at all.”

There was a hint of reproach in Director Zhou’s tone. He wasn’t truly blaming Wang Yun. He was just worried. Wang Yun had run into something serious, said nothing, and then disappeared, which had left him badly shaken.

Wang Yun understood what he meant and gave a dry laugh.

“Director Zhou, this really isn’t my fault. It was an emergency, and I had no idea that place had signal jammers.”

After a moment’s thought, Director Zhou asked seriously, “Then did you find any leads this time?”

Wang Yun nodded at once.

“Don’t worry, Director Zhou. If I hadn’t gained anything, I wouldn’t be contacting you. This has already gone beyond what we can handle ourselves. It’s at the point where the police need to get involved.”

Director Zhou considered that for a moment. It was true. This matter had grown far too large for them to manage on their own.

He let out a helpless sigh.

“Ah, Wang Yun, can’t you ever let me worry a little less?”

Wang Yun was equally helpless.

“Director Zhou, can you really blame me for this? Trouble came looking for me.”

After a pause, Zhou said seriously, “Then how about this—you stay out of it. We call the police directly, have Colin cooperate with them, and you continue with your escape.”

The moment Wang Yun heard that, he refused immediately. He knew Director Zhou meant well and didn’t want him dragged into this.

But he had already negotiated his payment. How could he possibly back out now?

“Colin didn’t even remember the location properly. He won’t be much help. If we want to wipe them all out in one go, we need to make arrangements in advance,” he said slowly.

Director Zhou fell silent for a moment.

He knew Wang Yun’s goal wasn’t simply to help the police catch people. There was definitely something else at play, something Wang Yun hadn’t told him. But he had no intention of interfering too much.

The show was still continuing as normal, and since it hadn’t affected the program, he might as well give this brat the maximum amount of freedom.

“Fine, I’ll leave this matter to you. But if anything happens, tell me right away. And if you’re going into another place with no signal, let me know in advance.”

Seeing that Zhou had relented, Wang Yun quickly agreed.

“I understand, Director Zhou. It’s not convenient for me to leave right now. Please report it as soon as possible, and have the officer in charge contact me directly. They’re keeping an eye on me right now, so I can’t move around freely.”

The voice on the other end turned hesitant.

In disbelief, Director Zhou asked, “You’ve been taken hostage?”

Wang Yun immediately realized Zhou had misunderstood.

“No, not like that. I came over here earlier to avoid the show’s inspectors. There are too many people around, too many eyes on me, so it’s inconvenient for me to go out.”

Only then did Zhou understand. He let out a long breath.

“You brat, you scared me half to death. I thought you’d gotten yourself trapped trying to save Colin.”

Wang Yun raised an eyebrow slightly.

“More or less. Colin doesn’t have to fight anymore. I’ll fight in his place.”

Director Zhou was so angered that he nearly failed to catch his breath. Beside him, the assistant reflexively pulled out some quick-acting heart medicine.

After taking the medicine and spending a moment recovering, Zhou finally said weakly, “I don’t care what your reasons are. You must make sure you stay safe. I’m going to file the report now, so just wait for my message.”

With that, he cut the connection without even waiting for Wang Yun to respond.

Sitting on the sofa, Wang Yun could not help smiling bitterly.

He knew Director Zhou was genuinely concerned about him. That was why he had gotten so anxious.

Only after the call ended did Big Mouth edge over again.

He had a vague sense that something about this situation was not quite right.
