Chapter 877: The Police Became Delivery Men?
by tinytree“Sir, I really can’t take your money. The boss already gave us instructions.”
One of the guards was sweating anxiously, waving his hands again and again.
Wang Yun still did not withdraw his hand. Looking at the two earnest young guards, he said, “Don’t worry. I’ll speak to Baren for you. Just take it. This is only the cost of the takeout anyway. I can’t very well ask you to pay for my food.”
With that, he firmly stuffed the money into the young guard’s hand, then turned and went back into the room.
The two guards behind him watched his back, deeply moved.
They had been working as security guards for quite a while and were long used to being ordered around.
They had already thought their boss was a good man, always polite to them.
But they had never expected that this distinguished guest they had met today would treat them with the same kind of respect.
A person’s character showed in the details.
The two exchanged a glance, and their backs unconsciously straightened a little more.

Meanwhile, Samson received the signal that Wang Yun had placed an order for a Kendeji family bucket. He called over one of his trusted men, Rodney, and told him to disguise himself as a Kendeji delivery worker.
“You must personally place the signal transmitter in Wang Yun’s hands. No mistakes.”
Samson gave the order with a stern expression.
Looking at his boss’s serious face, Rodney nodded hard. He knew how important this mission was.
It concerned Blood Banquet, the case they had been tracking for a full week without the slightest lead.
Now that they had finally found an opening, there could be no carelessness.
Rodney went to a nearby Kendeji and bought the family bucket.
Then he stopped one of the employees.
“Hello. I’d like to see your manager.”
The employee looked startled.
Silently, he grumbled to himself.
‘Who is this guy? Showing up and demanding the manager right away like he owns the place?’
Though dissatisfied inside, the employee did not show it on his face and kept smiling.
“Hello, sir. May I ask if you have some feedback for our manager? You can tell me first.”
Rodney frowned. He reached into his pocket, pulled out his police ID, and flashed it quickly in front of the employee’s eyes.
“Can you call your manager over now?”
His tone had already turned impatient. He knew this informant had been hard enough for his boss to find. He could not afford to waste time on trivial nonsense like this.
“Ah, Officer…”
The employee had just started to say something when he met Rodney’s cold look.
Rodney was about ready to explode from irritation. He had not openly displayed his identity precisely because he did not want to expose himself. Now that this idiot had blurted it out, people nearby had probably already guessed who he was.
Who could say for sure there weren’t men from Baren’s side or Blood Banquet here?
After being glared at, the employee instantly did not dare say another word. He hurried off at a run toward the back.
Not long after, another man appeared in front of Rodney. He wore the same uniform, but with a manager badge pinned to his chest.
“Sir, I’m terribly sorry. If you have business with me, would you like to speak in the back?”
The young employee had already told him that a police officer was here looking for him, and had emphasized that the officer did not want his identity exposed.
After thinking it over, the manager concluded that if the police needed him, speaking in the back would obviously be safer.
Rodney considered it and decided it would indeed be more convenient to talk there.
So he nodded and followed the manager to the staff break room in the back.
At this time of day, all the employees were busy outside, leaving the break room empty, which made it perfect for a private conversation.
Rodney got straight to the point.
“I’m a police officer. There’s a case, and right now I need your help.”
He fixed the manager with a solemn look, making the man visibly nervous.
The manager looked uneasily at the police ID in front of him and asked cautiously,
“O-Officer… whatever help you need, just say it. As long as it’s something we can do, we’ll definitely cooperate.”
Rodney let out a breath. Truthfully, he had just been putting on an intimidating front earlier. His own palms were covered in sweat by now.
“Whew… Manager, thank you. I need one set of your delivery uniform and to borrow one of your delivery carts.”
As he spoke, he pointed at the family-bucket takeout he had just bought.
The manager immediately understood what Rodney meant.
This officer wanted to disguise himself as one of their delivery workers.
He turned around and started rummaging through a nearby cabinet. Before long, he came back carrying a bag.
Confidently, he handed it over to Rodney.
“Officer, have a look. Everything you need should be in there.”
Rodney took the bag and opened it. Sure enough, inside was a delivery uniform. He thanked the manager, then went into the changing room to change clothes.
When he came back out, he looked like a completely different person.
The same employee from before stared at the man walking out in stunned disbelief.
Wasn’t that the scary police officer from earlier?
How did he turn into a delivery guy?
Did he just pretend to be a cop to mess with me?
It was only when he heard the manager cough beside him that the young employee snapped out of his thoughts. He desperately wanted to ask the manager what was going on. But he knew very well that he was just a lowly employee. He had no standing to ask about matters like this.
