Chapter 889: The Honored One Hundred and Eighty-Eighth Member
by tinytreeShe stared at the refined, scholarly-looking man in front of her in disbelief. She simply could not connect him with something as bloody and violent as boxing.
She looked Wang Yun up and down, then asked uncertainly, “You’re really going down there to fight later?”
Wang Yun had no interest in getting entangled with her any further. Seeing that he clearly did not want to say more, the woman beside her hurried forward and stepped between them.
“Nannan, let’s go find your father.”
Then she turned to Wang Yun and the others with an apologetic expression.
“I’m very sorry, sir. Nannan was rude.”
Just then, a somewhat authoritative male voice rang out.
“Nannan, what are you making a scene about this time?”
At the sound of the man’s voice, the proud, headstrong girl bit her lip hard, her face full of resentment. She was unwilling to submit, but in front of her father, she clearly did not dare say anything more.
Taking advantage of that moment while she was distracted, Wang Yun and the other two moved towards their private room.
“Sir, please wait a moment. I’m truly sorry. My daughter has been spoiled rotten by her mother.”
Wang Yun knew the words were directed at him. He lifted his head and looked calmly at the speaker.
It was a middle-aged man dressed with great care and taste.
The girl’s arrogance vanished, and she called out in a low voice, “Dad…”
The man did not respond to her. He merely shot his daughter a glare. Then he turned back to Wang Yun with a smile on his face.
As the saying goes, you don’t strike a smiling man. Seeing the smile on the man’s face, Wang Yun smiled back.
“You’re being too serious, sir. Your daughter wasn’t entirely wrong. I was the one who didn’t think things through, coming here in just a T-shirt.”
The man shook his head and held out a black card embossed with gold.
“Sir, I truly apologize. My name is Robin. I’m also one of the managers here. This is one of Blood Banquet’s exclusive VIP cards. As compensation, this card is now yours.”
Wang Yun looked at the man, then at the card in his hand.
He had no intention of accepting it, but just then Baren tugged lightly at his sleeve.
Wang Yun glanced at him, and Baren signaled for him to take the card. So, under all kinds of watchful eyes, Wang Yun reached out and accepted the card marked with the number 188 from Robin’s hand.
Seeing that Wang Yun had taken it, Robin said with a genial smile, “Congratulations, sir, on becoming the honored one hundred and eighty-eighth member of Blood Banquet. You may now head to the VIP private room with your companions.”
At that, Wang Yun nodded.
“Thank you for the card, Mr. Robin. Then we’ll head to the room and rest for a while.”
Robin said with a grin, “Certainly, sir. I hope you enjoy yourself.”
With that, Wang Yun and the other two turned and walked toward the viewing area on the other side, the section reserved exclusively for VIP guests.
As they turned away, they could still hear the girl asking her father indignantly,
“Dad, why would you give such a valuable membership card to someone like him?!”
She truly could not understand it.
Robin, however, paid no attention to his daughter’s shouting. He simply said blandly to the woman beside him, “Take Nannan back. She won’t be attending tonight’s banquet.”
The girl’s mouth fell open in disbelief. She stared at her father in shock as he said something like that so calmly.
Suddenly, she let out a self-mocking laugh.
This man had even driven away her own mother, the woman who had worked tirelessly for him without complaint.
Sending her home was nothing by comparison.
Once Wang Yun and the others had gone farther away, Robin immediately let the smile drop from his face. Expressionless, he watched their retreating figures. For some reason, that man in the ordinary T-shirt gave him an unusual feeling.
That was why he had offered one of Blood Banquet’s most valuable VIP cards to smooth the matter over.
After all, Wang Yun’s card was only number 188.
Blood Banquet had already been around for five years. Every year, it held several large-scale matches like this for the entertainment of the rich.
Each time, they sent out several thousand invitations.
Only people holding invitations could enter this hall.
Or those carrying one of the honored VIP cards, who could come and go as they pleased.
After thinking it over for a while, Robin still could not figure out where this young man had come from.
But he did not let his guard down.
As a successful businessman, Robin trusted his instincts very much.
Shaking his head, he stopped thinking about Wang Yun, put a smile back on his face, and went off to greet the other guests. He thought that one membership card would be enough to appease Wang Yun and the others.
But what he could never have imagined was that Wang Yun’s target was not that little membership card, but Blood Banquet itself.
The reason Blood Banquet’s membership cards were so valuable was not just because they granted unrestricted access.
More importantly, once you held one, Blood Banquet became your strongest backing.
Need money? Blood Banquet would lend it to you.
Need people? Blood Banquet had them.
As long as you wanted something and asked for it, Blood Banquet would do everything it could to make it happen.
That was the power of Blood Banquet.
That was the true reason the membership cards were so precious.
Those who possessed them were, without exception, the elite of every field.
Blood Banquet gathered them all together. And then it offered them every kind of support. That was why Blood Banquet had continued to exist in peace all this time.
Its power truly was not to be underestimated.
Naturally, Wang Yun and the others had no way of guessing what Robin was thinking. Following the directions, the three of them made their way to the VIP lounge.
