    Chapter Index

Even Wang Yun had not expected this.

Other than himself and Baren, there was actually someone else betting on him to win?

And not just a token amount either.

Wang Yun gave the box a rough glance. There had to be at least ten million in chips inside. At odds this high, the reason was obvious: no one believed he could win. Everyone was convinced Wang Yun was going to lose. And yet Robin had brought that much money just to throw it away?

Wang Yun looked at the man ahead of him, puzzled. He could not quite see through him.

The moment they met, Robin had given him a membership card. Now he was staking a huge sum on Wang Yun’s victory.

In anyone else’s eyes, wouldn’t that look insane?

Wang Yun shook his head and stopped dwelling on it.

As long as it had nothing to do with him, whatever this man wanted to do was his own business.

That was how Wang Yun saw it.

Robin, however, clearly did not see it the same way.

After placing his bet, Robin turned to leave. With one glance, he spotted Wang Yun standing lazily at the back of the crowd. A smile spread across his face at once.

“Mr. Wang Yun, what a coincidence. You came to place a bet too?”

Faced with Robin’s warmth, Wang Yun caught a whiff of something unusual.

    He smiled as well.

“Mr. Robin, speaking of betting, I should thank you for the card.”

Robin had not quite grasped what he meant when the attendant exchanging chips came back over.

Frowning, the attendant asked Wang Yun one last time for confirmation.

“Sir, are you certain you want to put all one hundred million chips on yourself to win?”

Wang Yun nodded, calm and resolute.

    “Just place the bet.”

The attendant stood there holding two large cases, staring at Wang Yun in disbelief.

“Sir, with this many chips… aren’t you going to check them first?”

Wang Yun gave a slight shake of his head.

    “It’s fine. I trust you.”

That simple trust left the attendant at a complete loss. If he hadn’t been holding such a massive amount of chips, he probably would have jumped on the spot.

Being trusted really did feel wonderful.

Wang Yun caught the instant change in his expression.

“Go on. Put all of it on me to win.”

The attendant nodded earnestly and carried the cases over to Wang Yun’s betting table. The attendant’s earlier words had already drawn everyone’s attention.

To the surrounding crowd, Wang Yun was clearly mad.

Other than a lunatic, who would take his entire fortune and stake it on a fighter almost guaranteed to lose?

Every single person here believed Wang Yun was doomed.

Whispers immediately spread through the crowd, and some had already started pointing at him openly.

One man nearby cast him a scornful look.

“So you’re Wang Yun, the one fighting Achir?”

Wang Yun did not bother responding to the provocation.

The man refused to let it go.

“What, are you scared? If you’re scared, just forfeit.”

“Exactly. Why not surrender now and save yourself the pain?”

“If he had even the slightest bit of self-awareness, he never would’ve agreed to fight Achir in the first place.”

Just then, another burst of commotion rose from the betting table.

    “What??? One hundred million???”

“No way. That kid has one hundred million in chips???”

“That’s not even the point. The point is he bet it on himself???”

“He’s lost his mind. Completely lost his mind.”

“Does he seriously have money with nowhere else to spend it?”

Others looked on with utter disdain.

“Tch. Just another desperate gambler making one last reckless bet.”

It was the classic bitterness of people who couldn’t have the grapes, so they insisted they were sour. Yet through all the gossip and sneers swirling around him, Wang Yun stood there as calm as ever.

He did not move an inch. He was simply waiting for the attendant to come back after placing the bet.

Then, beside him, came a voice unlike the rest.

    “What a foolish crowd.”

Wang Yun heard that and found it almost hard to believe.

He turned to see who had said it. The moment he did, Robin’s face was suddenly right there, close enough to startle him.

Wang Yun immediately stepped back two paces.

    “You flatter me, Mr. Robin.”

Robin smiled and laughed at himself.

“I still don’t have your courage, Brother Wang Yun. I only put down ten million.”

At that, Wang Yun finally lifted his eyes and properly looked at the man before him.

This man was probably the one, apart from himself and Baren, who had wagered the most on his victory.

Thinking that, Wang Yun gave Robin a friendly smile.

“And you, sir? You’re not afraid?”

    Robin smiled too.

“To be honest, ten million is a loss I can afford.”

Hearing that, Wang Yun let out a self-mocking laugh.

“How could I forget? A man like Mr. Robin wouldn’t care about ten million.”

When Robin placed that bet on Wang Yun in the beginning, he had not really been thinking about winning or losing at all.

The bet was simply a statement.

He was taking Wang Yun’s side. He wanted Wang Yun to win.

And of course, Wang Yun understood that as well.

The two men exchanged a smile.

When smart people dealt with each other, too many words were never necessary.

Just then, the attendant came hurrying back, out of breath.

“Sir, sir, it’s done. Here is your receipt.”

He handed the slip to Wang Yun.

Wang Yun gave a small nod and took it. Then he looked up at Robin again.

“In that case, Mr. Robin, I’ll head back now to prepare for the match. After all, my entire fortune is riding on it.”

As he spoke, he lifted the betting slip in his hand with a faint wave.
