Chapter 898: Since We’re All in Such High Spirits Today, Anything Goes
by tinytreeOne look at the crowd’s reaction was enough for Wang Yun to understand that none of them had taken his words seriously before. So naturally, they did not remember what he had said.
Wang Yun only smiled, unconcerned.
It didn’t matter. His goal had been achieved.
By now, the signal-ring was back on his finger.
All that remained was to wait for Blood Banquet’s bosses to hand over his prize money.
After all, what was his was his.
If he had fought for it, he was taking it with him.
At the same moment, Colin and Baren—both of them having guessed a little of what was really going on—hurried off with their betting slips to cash out. Because both of them had the same uneasy feeling.
Wang Yun looked like he was about to do something big.
And if Blood Banquet went down, that meant they might never get their money.
The two of them rushed out of the private room like their pants were on fire and made straight for the cashier’s counter.
On the other side, the host saw that Wang Yun’s expression remained calm and unreadable, and wisely stopped trying to needle him.
“Next, we invite Mr. Robin to present the prize to our winner, Mr. Wang Yun!”
There was not a trace of applause.
In the heavy silence, Robin came up smiling broadly. The moment he stepped onto the stage, he greeted Wang Yun with warm familiarity.
“Brother Wang Yun, we meet again. Congratulations.”
Wang Yun thought of the ten million Robin had staked on him and smiled back.
“Same to you, Boss Robin.”
Robin laughed it off carelessly.
“My little trick was nothing compared to yours, Brother Wang Yun.”
He had only wagered ten million. Even multiplied elevenfold, that was merely one hundred and ten million. But Wang Yun had bet a full one hundred million. At eleven times the payout, that meant 1.1 billion. Even Robin himself could not have produced that much cash in one go.
Fortunately, for this event, they had partnered with several banks and prepared an enormous cash reserve.
Seeing how cordially Robin and Wang Yun were speaking, the host no longer dared make things difficult for him. She hurriedly plastered on a bright smile.
“Now then, let’s have our ceremonial attendant bring over Mr. Wang Yun’s prizes.”
Every eye in the room fixed on Wang Yun.
Those looks were so vicious they seemed ready to tear him apart.
They had lost everything. And in their minds, it was all because of the man standing in front of them.
If he had not beaten Achir, they would never have lost.
Not one of those red-eyed losers seemed willing to admit that it was their own greed, their own decision to bet, that had brought them here.
Instead, every last one of them blamed Wang Yun.
Just then, the ceremonial attendant pushed a cart forward. She handed Robin a trophy shaped like a clenched fist made of solid gold.
Robin took it in both hands, stepped up to Wang Yun, and stood face-to-face with him. Then he held out the trophy and offered his congratulations once more.
“Brother Wang Yun, congratulations.”
Wang Yun accepted it with a smile.
Then the attendant passed over a case. Robin took that too and handed it to Wang Yun with another smile.
“And this is our other gift for the champion. Ten million in cash.”
For the first time, genuine surprise flickered across Wang Yun’s face.
He had expected the trophy. He had not expected the champion to receive a cash prize as well. Still, no one ever complained about having too much money. So he accepted the case too, smiling as he did.
“Then thank you, Boss Robin.”
Once the prizes had been presented, the host finally said, with no small amount of envy in her voice,
“Mr. Wang truly is enviable, to receive such generous rewards. With that, this King of Boxing tournament has come to a successful close. And if anyone still isn’t satisfied, sign up earlier next time. Perhaps the next champion will be you!”
When the host finished speaking, everyone began filing off the stage in an orderly way.
But up in the stands, every pair of eyes was burning as they stared at the case in Wang Yun’s hands.
Everyone knew what was inside.
Cash. Ten million.
They had just lost all their money.
And all because of this man from Dragon Country.
Almost everyone present was looking at Wang Yun and his prizes with open hostility.
Robin swept his gaze across the stands, saw the ugly looks on those faces, and frowned. Lowering his voice slightly, he said to Wang Yun beside him,
“Brother Wang Yun, do you need me to find a few people to escort you back?”
Wang Yun laughed.
“Boss Robin, have you forgotten? I just won the championship. They won’t dare make a move.”
Robin thought it over and decided that was true enough. Then something else occurred to him.
“Brother Wang Yun, the other decision-makers of Blood Banquet would like to invite you to dinner. Would that be convenient for you?”
Wang Yun raised a brow.
The bosses of Blood Banquet wanted to dine with him?
Perfect. Wouldn’t that make it easier to catch them all in one sweep?
He considered it for a moment, then nodded.
“When?”
Robin thought of the excited men waiting in the private room.
“No time like the present. Since everyone’s in such high spirits today, why not make it tonight?”
He looked at Wang Yun expectantly after saying it.
As it happened, that suited Wang Yun perfectly. If he could wrap everything up in a single day, so much the better. So he nodded to Robin without hesitation.
“That works, Boss Robin.”
Robin’s smile widened at once.
“Then once things are done here, head back and rest in your room first. When I’ve arranged everything, I’ll send someone to fetch you.”
Wang Yun nodded.
“All right. I’ll go back to the previous room, then.”
“Good. See you in a bit, Brother Wang Yun.”
With that, the two men headed off in different directions.
