Chapter 908: That Makes It More Interesting, Doesn’t It?
by tinytree“A police car? And that doesn’t even look like an ordinary police car!”
“Did big bro commit a crime???”
“The person above has to be a fake fan!”
“Exactly. Big bro works hard, cares about people, and who even knows how many good things he’s done since joining this show!”
“Yeah, definitely a fake fan!”
“Then why was he taken away by a special unit?”
“He’s probably just cooperating with the investigation.”
“We’ll probably see this on TV in a few days. Something on this scale definitely won’t stay quiet.”
“Right, let’s just wait. Big bro must’ve done something incredible this time.”
The viewers in the livestream were deep in animated discussion over Wang Yun’s disappearance that day.
In a corner no one noticed, a man in an attendant’s uniform was staring ahead with a dark, venomous gaze. He knew these were the people who had destroyed the years of effort his father and he had poured into this place.
Especially those two in the middle.
Wang Yun.
Officer Samson.
This man was Joel, Curt’s son—the one who had escaped. He had come out through another exit.
Even a cunning rabbit has three burrows, let alone an old fox like Curt.
The main reason Curt had been caught was his own arrogance. He had always thought that on his own turf, he was completely safe.
Life had just taught him otherwise.
After getting out, Joel had not fled.
Instead, he had found a hidden spot and stayed there, quietly observing. And when he saw Wang Yun and Samson emerge, he knew it.
Those two were his enemies.
One was the man his father had tried so desperately to win over, even offering him ten percent of the shares. Even Joel himself only had ten percent. That alone showed just how much Curt had valued this newcomer. And yet the man had betrayed his father’s trust.
Joel stared at Wang Yun’s back with savage hatred.
That vicious gaze made Wang Yun, who was walking toward Samson’s car, suddenly pause. It was as if he had sensed something. He looked around, scanning the area.
The moment Joel saw that, he immediately withdrew his gaze, not daring to keep staring at him.
“His instincts really are sharp. But that just makes it more interesting, doesn’t it?”
The bloodthirsty light in Joel’s eyes dimmed for a moment. Then he ran his tongue over his lips, hungry with anticipation. He arranged his face into the picture of harmless vulnerability, pulled his gaze away, and quietly waited for Wang Yun and the others to leave.
After all, how could a wolf’s cub possibly be a harmless little rabbit?
At most, it was a wolf draped in rabbit skin.
Its nature was the same underneath.
The place where Joel was hiding had been prepared back when they built Blood Banquet.
Unless someone walked right up in front of him, they would never discover him.
Wang Yun looked around but did not spot anything unusual.
Still, he knew Curt’s son could not have gone far. Someone had definitely been watching him just now.
Wang Yun possessed God-level perception. But even if he told Samson, there was no guarantee they would find the man.
This was, after all, the father and son’s home ground.
And if they cornered him too hard and drove him mad, there was no telling whether he might drag others down with him.
Thinking that, Wang Yun stopped searching.
Not far in front of him, a clump of flowers stirred in the breeze.
If Wang Yun had taken just a few more steps forward, he would have seen Joel.
By then, Joel had already put on the mask of a helpless little rabbit.
But hidden beneath it, he was wearing a bomb vest.
Just as Wang Yun had feared, if he were discovered, he would rather die than be arrested.
Fortunately, Wang Yun did not keep walking forward.
Just then, Samson called out to him.
“He’s probably long gone by now. Only an idiot would still be hiding around here. Let’s get back to the station first.”
Wang Yun said nothing. He merely nodded and turned back toward Samson’s car.
Wang Yun himself did not see Joel in hiding. But the livestream camera angle happened to be pointed straight at the place where he was concealed.
The moment Wang Yun stopped walking, the viewers in the livestream nearly went out of their minds.
“Ahhh! Big bro, just take one more step!”
“This is killing me! Just one step!!!”
“One step and you would’ve seen him!!!”
“Big bro!! Just a little farther!!”
“Ahhh, I swear I want to crawl through the screen and shove him over there!”
“My temper can’t take this, it’s driving me insane!”
The viewers’ anxiety never reached Wang Yun. He only walked calmly back toward Samson’s car.
Once inside, Wang Yun leaned back and closed his eyes, looking utterly exhausted.
Seeing that, Samson did not want to disturb him, so he sat quietly at the side, glancing now at Wang Yun, now out the window, checking how far along the car was.
At last, they reached the police station.
Samson had just been about to call Wang Yun’s name when he saw Wang Yun’s eyes open at once.
The sudden movement startled him so badly his whole body gave a jolt, and he blurted out awkwardly, “So… you weren’t asleep.”
Wang Yun did not answer him. He only nodded and stepped out of the car first.
