Chapter 154: The Beastgirl Sisterhood
by tinytreeThe involvement with religion was originally a minor endeavor for Wu Qingsong, and the success it garnered was a delightful surprise. He left the specifics to Morin, with Ram and Harold supervising him from the administrative and military aspects, respectively. Meanwhile, Wu Qingsong set his sights on another project.
He established an organization named the Beastgirl Sisterhood of Orgrimmar, nominally led by Ling, Liuli, and Feya. In reality, however, it was a religious indoctrination group operating parallel to the church, directly under Wu Qingsong’s command.
“What exactly are you trying to accomplish here?” Ram teased Wu Qingsong.
“What do you think?” Wu Qingsong said, somewhat exasperated.
Ram didn’t seriously believe Wu Qingsong gathered these young girls to expand a harem. While Wu Qingsong might not be the most faithful, he wasn’t morally depraved to the point of exploiting the young rabbitgirls and mousegirls, many of whom were mere children.
In truth, the Beastgirl Sisterhood was a loosely structured organization comprised of young females who had been preliminarily selected for their bravery, determination, gratefulness, and sense of belonging to Wu Qingsong and the Thirteenth Mercenary Group.
Ling took primary responsibility for the caninegirls, Feya oversaw the deergirls and horsegirls, and Liuli led the rabbitgirls and mousegirls. Their goal was to organize these girls to learn basic knowledge, undertake simple tasks, enjoy delicious food, and gather to discuss the improvements in their lives, who was responsible for these changes, then learn songs and undergo indoctrination through Morin’s sermons.
After a period of indoctrination and observation, those girls who showed a particularly strong sense of belonging and exhibited intense admiration for Wu Qingsong were further selected. Wu Qingsong himself devoted time to tell them stories, play various small games with them, and teach them to sing, aiming to further break down any barriers and sense of unfamiliarity, thereby fostering a closer relationship and admiration towards him.
Liuli was not happy with this. She felt that Wu Qingsong’s attention towards her was being diverted. The rabbitgirls and mousegirls, already intimidated by her, became even more frightened, ultimately leading to Feya being tasked with their guidance.
Wu Qingsong’s engagement with the young girls wasn’t out of boredom or a whimsical desire to play the role of an odd uncle. It was a strategic move to further explore the secrets behind awaken the beastgirls’ latent abilities.
It became apparent that using necromancy was not without its costs, contrary to his initial belief. In this magical world, the principle of energy conservation still applied, but there was a broader array of energy sources than in his original world.
With the territory and population under his control, the assistance that necromancy could provide was limited, and most routine issues could be readily resolved with curse magic.
For Wu Qingsong, identifying and gathering high-level combat power was always a top priority.
However, The Book of the Dead failed to offer the additional information he sought.
The book was like a specialized textbook designed for doctoral students, packed with undoubtedly powerful magic. For Wu Qingsong, however, it was like jumping ahead too soon. He was in need of more foundational material, akin to what one would learn in elementary, middle, or even high school.
He asked Ram to send someone to seek out Nina, and request her help in keeping an eye on the loot obtained by treasure hunters in Nars Oasis. If they came across any magic books, scrolls, or other items that might contain information related to necromancy, the plan was to acquire them anonymously.
Yet, such opportunities were rare and not something one could count on, so he found himself revisiting familiar territory.
Nina’s abilities had been successfully awakened by him, and Liuli still possessed a child-like innocence regarding romantic emotions. If he could unlock their latent abilities, maybe the real secret wasn’t as straightforward as he initially believed.
Furthermore, Wu Qingsong was curious about whether this ability could potentially evolve through training.
Morin’s success inspierd. To some extent, the dedication and worship found in religion, and the emotions of love and adoration for an idol could even be more enduring and intense. If storytelling and singing had allowed him to earn Liuli’s trust and foster a close connection, could a similar or even more intensive form of indoctrination achieve comparable results with these girls, akin to blank slates?
When Ram initially discovered his ability, she indiscriminately assembled a large group of beastwomen without considering their lack of familiarity with Wu Qingsong, missing even the most fundamental level of trust.
What Wu Qingsong was doing now was focused on building and reinforcing their connection with him, aiming to elicit in them a reverence and readiness to sacrifice everything for him. This sentiment was different from romantic love, yet it might be stronger.
He felt it was absolutely worth attempting, and the odds of success seemed high.
This kind of power could be the truly decisive force that could be rapidly amassed, concealed, and then unleashed in a critical moment.
“Feya, are you ready?”
The deergirl nodded with slight nervousness.
“Then let’s get started. Don’t worry, you’ll definitely succeed,” Wu Qingsong encouraged.
Any distance between them had disappeared with the passage of time. After Feya expressed her desire to be part of his family, Wu Qingsong treated her with the care and attention of a brother. If Liuli could succeed, Wu Qingsong was confident Feya could achieve the same.
Before conducting experiments with the newly recruited beastgirls, he couldn’t overlook Feya, as it would disappoint and upset her. Therefore, on this particular day, he specifically summoned Ram, Ling, and Liuli, along with two squads of houndmen as guards, to venture into the forest in the mountain.
The houndmen meticulously scoured the area to ensure no one could witness their activities. Once secure, Wu Qingsong proceeded with the preparations.
The practice of awakening beastwomen’s abilities initially carried an ambiguous connotation, but after hundreds, even thousands of awakenings, Wu Qingsong became indifferent to the process.
The chest was the part of the body’s surface closest to the heart, and perhaps it was for this reason that spiritual contact and coordination must be initiated from this area. Once there was a logical explanation and efforts were made to frame it in a religious context, the practice became readily accepted by the beastwomen, eliminating any awkwardness or ambiguity.
“Relax,” Wu Qingsong instructed Feya. “Trust yourself, and trust me.”
