“Raman!” Roderick was both shocked and furious.

He had just about wiped out all the zombies in the forest, but in doing so, he’d distanced himself from Raman. Now, all he could do was watch helplessly as Nina sliced him clean in half with a single strike.

Rage immediately clouded his judgment. He charged toward Nina at full speed.

“Die!” he roared, channeling nearly all his power into his magic sword.

A surge of electricity crackled across the blade, lighting up most of the forest. The lightning sword extended three to four meters long. Bolts of lightning as thick as a python slithered along the blade, radiating blinding light and disintegrating everything in their path into ash.

But to his shock, Nina—who had previously struggled to keep up with him—now gripped her greatsword with both hands. A brilliant silver light erupted from her body, shooting straight into the sky as though the moon itself were shining down on her. The silver aura around her grew even more intense, solidifying into a dazzling glow. Her sword blazed with silver flames.

    “This can’t be!” Roderick bellowed.

If she had this kind of power, why hadn’t she used it earlier?

Nina’s only answer was to charge straight at him, her sword blazing in both hands.

The silver moonlight and crackling lightning clashed violently, sending out an intense burst of light from the point where the two swords met. The explosion incinerated the surrounding undead into ashes. The shockwave tore through the forest like a tornado, hurling soil, stones, and trees outward from the center of the impact. The blast didn’t lose its force until it reached twenty or thirty meters away. Even then, it continued to push trees over, tilting them away from the blast site.

Many of the trees were now ablaze. Wu Qingsong and Ling were both thrown back by the shockwave, crashing heavily to the ground.

    “Nina?” Wu Qingsong shouted.

But the forest remained eerily silent. Thick smoke and dust choked the air, obscuring everything. It was only after several minutes that they finally spotted Nina, her body faintly glowing with a silver light, while Roderick had vanished.

“Nina?!” Wu Qingsong called out again, pulling Ling along as they rushed towards her.

    “He got away,” Nina said.

She shook her head, before suddenly coughing up a mouthful of blood.

    “Nina?!” Wu Qingsong exclaimed, startled.

Nina shook her head and gripped his hand. “I’m fine. He’s injured, we have to catch him!”

This wasn’t a fighting style she was used to. While her power was greater than Roderick’s, his experience in wielding such extraordinary strength far surpassed her own.

Nina had taken the full brunt of the recoil from the clash of their two swords, while Roderick, with a calculated move, redirected part of the force back onto her.

However, Nina’s strength was far beyond what he had anticipated. Though she was injured, Roderick wasn’t able to completely escape the shock either. But in that moment, he regained his composure. Using the force of the shockwave, he propelled himself far away and slipped into the darkness without hesitation.

“We have to catch him!” Nina said, her voice firm.

This wasn’t just about the Silvermoon Wolf Clan’s vengeance, it was about everyone’s future.

If Roderick escaped alive, the abilities they had shown today would undoubtedly become known to all the elves. That would mean endless pursuit and destruction.

“Leave it to me!” Wu Qingsong nodded.

He issued orders to the remaining undead, directing them to track Roderick in the direction he had fled.

“Wu! Ling!” Liuli’s voice called out from a distance.

The giant eagle was lifeless now, and she was dragging it by one leg as she approached.

“I was really scared back there!” she said as she reached Wu Qingsong and the others.

Wu Qingsong’s mind sparked with an idea as he took the dead giant eagle from her hands.

At that moment, battle erupted. The undead tracking Roderick ran into a group of soldiers in the forest, who had responded to the fireball Raman had thrown earlier. A fierce clash broke out between the two sides amidst the trees.

Most of the undead under Wu Qingsong’s control had already been destroyed in the previous battle, and the remaining forces were no longer strong enough to dominate the fight. Meanwhile, shouts from more soldiers came from the opposite direction.

“We need to pull back!” Wu Qingsong said, channeling a powerful soul fragment into the giant eagle’s corpse, bringing it back to life.

Nina hesitated, unwilling to retreat, but Wu Qingsong grabbed her arm.

“The fight isn’t over yet,” he told her. “As long as Roderick hasn’t escaped from the mountains, we still have a chance to take him down!”

Nina nodded, and the group quickly headed in the direction where the Silvermoon Wolf Clan had fled. As they moved, Wu Qingsong noticed Raman’s corpse nearby.

During the earlier explosion, it had been thrown by the shockwave but surprisingly hadn’t suffered further damage.

    “Wu?” Nina asked.

“Bring it along,” Wu Qingsong said. “It might come in handy.”

They swiftly left the battlefield, slipping into the shadows. Wu Qingsong kept sending any straggling undead toward the pursuing soldiers, all the while collecting soul fragments and transforming every corpse he came across into more undead. Small skirmishes kept breaking out behind them. After about ten minutes, they finally managed to shake off their pursuers and disappeared into the darkness.

“Princess Nina?” a voice called out from ahead.

“It’s me! Where is everyone else?” Nina asked.

“Prince Daryl has already led them to safety,” the wolfman replied, relief in his voice.

The earlier explosion had everyone on edge, fearing the worst for Nina. Seeing her return unharmed, they finally let out a collective sigh of relief.

“The pursuers are right behind us. We need to move!” Nina urged.

Roderick had likely regrouped with his forces, forcing them to continue the chase in the darkness despite the danger. However, thanks to the undead that Wu Qingsong continuously sent to block their path, the gap between them widened. Eventually, the soldiers had no choice but to stop.

The wolfmen led Nina, Wu Qingsong, and the others through the mountains to a deep valley. Wu Qingsong immediately recognized the area—they had stashed a cache of food they’d stolen from the enemy here earlier.

Sure enough, they soon encountered the wolfmen sentries. As they entered the valley, the faint glow of firelight came into view—it seemed the wolfpeople were busy cooking a meal.

“Sister!” Daryl’s voice called out from nearby. “Wu? You’re all safe! That’s such a relief!”

“Did everyone make it out?” Nina asked softly, giving him a light pat on the shoulder.

“Most of them did,” Daryl answered.

He glanced at the flickering shadows near the fire. The fact that only a few of the Silvermoon Wolf Clan had survived weighed heavily on him.

“Sister, about this–” Daryl began, but Wu Qingsong interrupted, pulling him aside.

“Let Nina rest for a while,” Wu Qingsong said. “We can talk about this later.”
