Chapter 355: Xuanyuan’s Blessing
by tinytreeBoulder moved to the farthest corner of the room, away from Nina. As a powerful undead being, the presence of her awakened Silvermoon Light wouldn’t harm it, but it still made it uncomfortable.
Wu Qingsong glanced at it before turning his attention back to Liuli. However, under so many watching eyes, she clearly wasn’t used to this situation. After struggling for a while, she shook her head. “Meow~ It’s not working!”
“Let me try,” Xeila immediately said.
Wu Qingsong instinctively wanted to stop her, but before he could, she had already grabbed the wooden pendant, snapped the thin string, and pressed it against her chest.
A few seconds later, a surge of air burst out from where she stood, and in the next instant—she disappeared.
It worked?!
Wu Qingsong couldn’t help but shift his gaze toward Boulder. The gray-white flames in its eyes flared up intensely. Even it, faced with this moment, couldn’t hide its astonishment.
A few seconds later, Xeila reappeared in the room, slightly displaced from her original position.
“There’s a slight difference,” she explained before anyone could ask. “The most noticeable thing is that the ability triggered this way isn’t as strong as usual.”
Wu Qingsong took the wooden pendant from her and carefully inspected it. The power within the soulstone had been partially consumed, but far from depleted.
“This is already a huge breakthrough,” Nina said. She turned and nodded slightly at Boulder, expressing her respect.
To decipher knowledge from the Abyss and Batiz, then merge it with shamanic wisdom into something new—no matter how one looked at it, this was an astounding achievement. Perhaps only a lich who had once been a formidable shaman could have managed such a feat.
Even if this method resulted in a weaker activation than when Wu Qingsong awakened their abilities, it granted them greater autonomy. From now on, both they and Wu Qingsong were freed from relying solely on his intervention, allowing for more flexible and strategic options in battle.
“Do you think it can be improved further?” Wu Qingsong asked, his heart pounding with excitement, as if the entire world had suddenly opened up to him.
“Maybe, but not right now,” Boulder answered calmly.
Wu Qingsong nodded. “What can I do for you?” he asked sincerely.
“Just leave me alone.” Boulder gave the same response as before.
Wu Qingsong was left speechless, but for someone who had never had material desires in life and found the greatest joy in communing with nature, perhaps meditation was all that remained after becoming undead.
What will come of this?
Wu Qingsong didn’t know, but just designing this magical array alone was enough for him to tolerate a great deal of Boulder’s eccentricities.
“Your name will be recorded in the Sacred Book of Xuanyuan,” he told Boulder. “You will be recognized as a saint. There will always be two guards stationed outside your room. Whatever you need, so long as it is within my power and does not endanger those I care about, I will do my best to fulfill.”
The gray-white flames in Boulder’s eyes extinguished completely. None of this meant anything to it.
“Let’s go,” Wu Qingsong sighed.
The first thing he did afterward was carefully copy the engravings on the wooden pendant, then begin further testing.
While it didn’t seem dangerous at first glance, a single successful experiment wasn’t enough to prove it was completely safe.
Xeila continued activating her abilities repeatedly, even engaging in a sparring match with Nina—who had been awakened by Wu Qingsong—to test its performance under extreme conditions.
Without precise data, they couldn’t quantify the difference, but based on Xeila’s assessment, this method only triggered about half the strength of what Wu Qingsong’s awakening could achieve. During combat, she could feel energy continuously flowing into her from the magical array, and after multiple examinations, Wu Qingsong confirmed that the energy came mostly from the soulstone, with a smaller portion from Xeila herself.
This meant that even replacing the soulstone with a new, fully charged one wouldn’t allow her to maintain transformation indefinitely. Her own energy still had to be replenished through rest.
“If that’s the case, then Wu, when you awaken us, are you actually channeling some of your own power into us?” Liuli asked.
Wu Qingsong shook his head. He didn’t know. That might be one explanation, but given that this magical array combined elements of Bloodlust, necromancy, and Abyssal magic, it was likely more complex than that.
“So how exactly do we trigger it?” Liuli asked.
“Just recall the feeling of Wu awakening your abilities,” Xeila answered naturally.
Liuli tried again but still couldn’t activate it. However, both Nina and Ling successfully awakened their abilities using the pendant, proving that it was a universally applicable method. Eventually, after numerous attempts with everyone’s help, Liuli finally managed to find the right sensation.
Next, Wu Qingsong summoned a doctor to examine Xeila, who had used the pendant for the longest duration, ensuring there were no adverse effects.
Although Nina and Alice’s abilities were powerful, neither of them had any actual medical knowledge. This meant that while Nina could heal any problems, she wouldn’t necessarily be able to detect them beforehand.
The doctor was an elderly deerman who had joined them back in Orgrimmar and was now a devoted Xuanyuan follower. His main role was training priests to handle common medical issues so that they could treat followers without always needing to call upon Wu Qingsong, Nina, or Alice.
After performing several examinations on Xeila, the doctor’s expression turned to one of astonishment. He even repeated his checks multiple times, causing growing concern among those present.
“What’s wrong with her?” Wu Qingsong asked, anxious.
“No… The lady is in perfect health,” the deer doctor finally said, realizing his behavior might have caused unnecessary worry. He quickly waved his hands. “It’s just…” He hesitated, looking perplexed. “If I’m not mistaken… Congratulations, my lord. You’re going to be a father.”
The room fell into complete silence.
“What… what did you just say?” Xeila was the first to react. She instinctively grabbed the doctor by his collar and yanked him toward her.
“You… you didn’t make a mistake, did you?” Ling’s voice trembled.
Normally, such a question would be considered disrespectful. But as a half-blood herself, Ling had shared Xeila’s suffering. Hearing such an unbelievable revelation made it impossible for her to contain her emotions.
“Ladies…” The deer doctor looked flustered. Only then did Xeila realize how inappropriate her actions were and hurriedly let go.
“I’m sorry! I’m so sorry!” She was utterly shaken. “But… but you do know I’m a half-elf, right?”
“It’s precisely because of that that I double-checked multiple times,” the doctor replied with a shake of his head. “Perhaps this is a blessing from Xuanyuan? Lord Tagraedi is the only one on this earth favored by Him. Maybe this is His gift to you.”
Tears streamed down Xeila’s face. She clamped a hand over her mouth, shaking her head repeatedly, still struggling to accept the reality of what she had just heard.
Ling also began crying. She reached out toward Xeila, and the two of them embraced, finally breaking into uncontrollable sobs.
