Chapter 153: Almost Scared Dad to Death

Xiao Yu felt his scalp tingle.

“Boss, what are you thinking about?” Guo Qiang’s voice broke through his thoughts.

“Nothing,” Xiao Yu snapped back to reality, shook his head, and looked again at the body tray. “Let’s focus on the case.”

Why was he examining this? 

When a body was placed into a freezer cabinet, it needed to be bagged in what was commonly known as a body bag—a fairly thick, transparent plastic bag. 

Why use such a bag? 

Primarily to protect the body and to prevent bacteria from the corpse contaminating the freezer cabinet. Even so, each time a body was removed, the freezer cabinet underwent a disinfection process.

Both men stared at the open body bag, faces full of questions. The body bag was open… that much was obvious. If it weren’t open, the body wouldn’t have disappeared. 

But this raised a question.

Under normal circumstances, a body bag has a zipper; you just need to unzip it. But the body bag in front of them was unusual. It wasn’t unzipped—it was torn open,

Most people knew that when you tore plastic, it left marks. The plastic deforms and tears indicated which side the tearing started from. 

The body bag in front of them, based on the tear marks, showed that it had been torn from the inside out.

Suddenly, Xiao Yu and Guo Qiang felt all the hairs on their bodies stand up. Goosebumps covered their skin. It was as if their brains had been electrified, leaving them both numb and tingling.

Torn from the inside out… wasn’t that terrifying?

Xiao Yu had a strong psychological resilience and even had the Psychologist Expert ability. But in the face of this situation, his face still started to turn pale. His mind was full of questions, and he inwardly screamed, ‘What’s going on, heavens? This was supposed to be a normal world—why is it suddenly supernatural? No, I must be seeing things wrong.’

“Whew!” Xiao Yu exhaled deeply. It was man-made, not done by a ghost.

With Eagle Eye, he noticed detailed signs that the body bag had indeed been torn from the inside out. But an interesting problem arose. 

When you tear plastic, your fingerprints often get left behind. While the tearing process may distort the prints, they were still usually present. However, there were no fingerprints on this body bag, only tear marks.

Why?

Because the fingers must have been covered with something.

For example, gloves?

Here’s another interesting problem. Most bodies placed in body bags were naked. Who would put gloves on a corpse?

Some people might not know that after death, a body becomes stiff. Removing a deceased person’s clothes often requires tools like scissors. Dressing a corpse was generally impossible without special techniques and sometimes even involved breaking the arm bones to fit the clothes properly. As for gloves? Get real.

In everyday life, unless actively using their hands or assuming a special posture, people’s hands were naturally slightly curved and not fully extended. After death, this curvature became more pronounced, and most corpses had their hands in a semi-clenched state. Due to the stiffness, unless you break all the finger bones, putting on gloves would be impossible.

So, how could someone put gloves on a corpse?

Going back to the core issue, bodies placed in body bags were usually naked, let alone wearing gloves. If the body didn’t tear the bag from the inside, there’s only one possibility: someone, wearing gloves, staged the scene to make it look like the body tore its way out from inside. But they overlooked one detail–the deceased wouldn’t be wearing gloves.

Why would the person wear gloves?

There was only one reason—to avoid leaving fingerprints.

“Pretty clever, and quite tricky,” Xiao Yu mused, furrowing his brow. “But how did they get their hand inside the body bag to tear it open?”

“Boss, what did you say?” Guo Qiang, still in a state of shock, asked, bewildered.

“Don’t be scared,” Xiao Yu rolled his eyes. “It’s clear that the bag was torn open by someone wearing gloves, not by a corpse.”

As seasoned detectives, Xiao Yu’s reminder made Guo Qiang instantly realize the truth.

“Damn!” Guo Qiang cursed, feeling both embarrassed and angry.

The two frowned and began to study the situation again.

How did the body thief manage to get their hand inside the sealed body bag to tear it open?

At the end of the bag’s zipper, there was a mini zip tie, with a corpse tag attached to it. Each time the bag was opened, the zip tie needed to be cut.

The zipper and the zip tie on the body bag in front of them were intact.
