Chapter 185: So Much Talking
by tinytree“The PX18 police handgun comes with two types of magazines—one holds 7 rounds, the other holds 13. The special 13-round magazine isn’t something you guys normally use, right?”
The old man’s expression remained calm as ever as he slowly stood up, locking eyes with Xiao Yu.
“Before entering the villa, you fired a shot. Once inside, you killed the twins, took out the kid, shot the crossbow bolt, and killed my last two men. Which means there are no bullets left in your gun.”
‘He’s betting that my gun’s out of ammo.’
Xiao Yu smirked slightly, looking at the old man. “And then what?”
The old man didn’t answer. Instead, he reached toward his back, pulling out two crescent-shaped blades. The blades were short, less than a foot long, but in the old man’s hands, they looked like he was holding two crescent moons.
In his past life, Xiao Yu might’ve sneered dismissively: Heh, idiot!
But in this life, he never underestimated children, women, or the elderly.
His mentor from his past life had once told Xiao Yu something important: “If you see a woman on the battlefield, she’s probably insanely strong. If you see an old man, his experience alone will make him terrifying. But if you see a child? You kill them first, no hesitation. Because if you let a child on the battlefield grow up, they’ll become your worst nightmare.”
It’s worth noting that Xiao Yu’s mentor in his past life wasn’t just an ordinary police officer. Before he was a cop, he had been a top-tier soldier—a special forces operative of the highest caliber.
Even with a disability, after transitioning to the police force, his abilities were beyond question.
The advice his mentor had passed on… Xiao Yu never forgot it, even after two lifetimes.
“Young man, even though you’re frighteningly strong…”
The old man shook his head with a cruel grin. “What a pity!”
Pity?*
The old man took a step forward, his eyes flashing with a murderous gleam. He suddenly appeared right in front of Xiao Yu. His speed was faster than any young man. So fast it gave Xiao Yu the illusion that the old man had transformed into an agile monkey.
Both crescent-shaped blades in the old man’s hands swung. One was aimed for Xiao Yu’s waist, the other for his neck.
But right after, the old man’s vision blurred, and his confident strike missed entirely.
‘How is that possible…?’
The old man’s grin quickly twisted into shock.
He retreated immediately, his reaction time less than half a second. But in that tiny fraction of time, someone else was even faster.
A ghostly figure shot towards the ground, sticking close like a shadow, following the old man. Two hands reached out for the elder’s wrists that were holding the blades.
“Hmph!”
The old man flipped his hands, the blade slicing toward those hands. But… the hands suddenly dropped. They weren’t aiming for the old man’s wrists.
A pair of iron-like hands grabbed the old man’s ankle.
“What the—”
The old man’s face went pale with shock. Just as he was about to counterattack, his feet suddenly left the ground. He lost all control of his body, being lifted high into the air.
In the next instant, Xiao Yu swung the old man’s legs like a pair of clubs and hurled him toward the ground with brutal force.
“Nooo—” The old man’s scream echoed.
Boom!
The old man’s shout came to an abrupt stop.
Xiao Yu released his grip and slowly stood up. He stared at the old man on the ground, who was convulsing all over, his eyes cold and sharp.
He didn’t dare to relax yet. He needed to be sure that the old man had completely lost his ability to fight back.
But then…
In an instant, the old man’s body sprang up. With a sharp whistle, the two blades in his hands sliced through the air as he lunged toward Xiao Yu with raw, brute force.
“It’s useless.”
Xiao Yu had already said this twice before.
This was the third time.
Once Xiao Yu decided to go all out, any attempt from his enemy to resist was laughably futile.
As the old man charged at him, blades slashing toward him, Xiao Yu didn’t retreat—instead, he charged forward, even faster.
The old man froze in shock.
He realized Xiao Yu’s movements were even more ferocious and reckless than his own, like a wild beast.
Yes, a beast. The old man couldn’t think of any other way to describe Xiao Yu.
Their bodies collided with a heavy thud.
Using the force of the impact, Xiao Yu thrust his knee upward, executing a move that resembled a brutal Muay Thai knee strike. Harnessing the momentum and all of his strength, he drove his knee forward with devastating power. If it connected, it would be nearly fatal.
Thud!
Xiao Yu’s knee slammed into the old man’s midsection.
Even without activating his Bear Strength, the old man’s body was still sent flying from the force, twisting in midair.
In the next moment, Xiao Yu’s leg followed up with a high, sweeping motion, rising to meet the airborne old man like a battle axe descending from above.
Bang!
The old man’s body bent under Xiao Yu’s kick, like a snapped chopstick.
He crashed to the ground.
“A killer?” Xiao Yu looked coldly at the old man lying on the ground, still conscious but completely unable to resist. “You’re not allowed to exist in this country.”
“Ha… cough…” Even in this state, the old man tried to laugh but ended up spitting out blood. He weakly stammered, “You… you’re going to die… the Big Joker will make you understand… what real–”
Xiao Yu’s foot struck the old man square in the face.
Looking at the now unconscious man, Xiao Yu sneered, “So much talk.”
Wang Dong came in, carrying a huge sniper rifle, with a team of SWAT officers and security personnel following behind.
He glanced around at the carnage inside the villa. His gaze lingered on the bodies of the two dead SWAT officers. His mouth twitched as he shot Xiao Yu a look full of frustration.
“Can you stop flirting with death already? If something happens to you, I’m pretty sure your wife would kill me.”
When Xiao Yu left with him, Mu Qingwu had said one thing to Wang Dong: “Take care of my husband.”
On the surface, it seemed like a simple request, but it was more of a warning: “If you take my man, you’d better bring him back safely.”
Do you have any idea how terrifying a woman can be when she loses control? Now imagine that same woman with a net worth of billions going off the deep end—think you can handle the consequences?
Even Wang Dong couldn’t shrug off a warning like that.
Do you really think that phrase ‘money makes the world go round’ is just a joke?
He remembered once telling Xiao Yu that he was the second monster he’d ever met.
The first monster? Filthy rich, worth billions.
That monster, when captured, said just one thing before he died, and too many people lost their lives because of it.
What was that sentence?
“Whoever gets me out of here, I’ll give them one billion.”
And because of that, an entire elite squad of national security officers was almost wiped out. Countless people died chasing that offer.
Thankfully, that monster was killed in the end.
But imagine if Mu Qingwu lost it one day and declared to the world: “Anyone who avenges my man and kills everyone involved, I’ll give them 100 billion.”
What do you think would happen?
You don’t even want to imagine it!
