Chapter 187: Big Joker is Just a Name for a Fool
by tinytree“It’s impossible… impossible… impossible…”
The young man standing in the middle of the road was trembling. His body shook uncontrollably. His face, already bearing a foolish grin, twisted further into disbelief, making him look even more like an idiot.
His eyes were wide open, his arms and head twitching as he stared in shock at the policeman who had just pushed five pedestrians out of the way and avoided the falling car as if he wasn’t human.
Even more unbelievable was the fact that this same policeman had been hit by a bus. Yet, he still managed to get back on his feet and jump up again.
“No… no… normal people can’t dodge that… it’s impossible to dodge…” the young man muttered to himself, stammering, “He’s not normal… he’s not normal… he’s…”
Using his brain’s exceptional calculating abilities, he had always been able to predict multiple scenarios. He could anticipate and manipulate circumstances to create accidents and use those accidents to kill his targets.
There was no way for a normal person to escape from this kind of death trap, nor from his precise calculations. Unless… the young man’s thoughts were in turmoil.
A gunshot rang out.
A bullet struck the young man’s arm.
As the young man twisted in pain, another shot hit his other arm.
“No!” he roared in anger, his mind racing.
He ignored the searing pain in his arms as his left hand reached into his jacket pocket. But…
Bang!
A bullet shattered his wrist.
“You… can’t stop me!”
Even as his left hand was shot, his right hand managed to reach into his jacket pocket. He pulled out a handful of glass marbles.
Bang!
A bullet pierced through the young man’s right wrist. As his hand loosened, the glass marbles scattered across the ground. But instead of panicking, he laughed like a fool, like someone mentally unhinged. He raised his head, staring at Xiao Yu who was now standing right in front of him, giggling foolishly, “We… die together.”
“Die?”
Xiao Yu’s expression froze, and his gaze shifted to the glass marbles rolling on the ground.
The marbles had spread out, rolling in all directions. His pupils contracted sharply as he saw a woman nearby.
She was terrified by the gun in his hand. She screamed trying to get away. In her high heels, she stepped on one of the marbles. She slipped and fell. The woman’s body slammed into a ladder. The ladder had a maintenance worker standing on it. The ladder tipped over, sending the worker crashing into a hanging sign.
The light tubes inside the sign shattered. Sparks flew. Tiny fireballs descended toward the ground, heading straight for a nearby sewer grate.
“Heh.”
Xiao Yu let out a cold chuckle and raised his gun.
He shot a single bullet. It was faster than the falling sparks. It struck a water bottle slung over a passerby’s shoulder.
Despite being only one bullet, the rotational force caused the water bottle to burst open, sending water splashing into the air and dousing the falling sparks.
“Hahaha…”
The young man was still laughing—or rather, cackling like a fool. His eyes were filled with mockery, his smile as dumb as ever. But in his mind, he was thinking: Did you really think I didn’t account for that?
In the very next second, the idiot’s grin froze. Because…
“You think I didn’t see that coming?” Xiao Yu smirked, pulling the trigger.
A bullet shot out of the barrel, flying towards the street and shattering one of the glass marbles. Another bullet fired, this time behind the young man, breaking another glass marble.
Xiao Yu shifted his arm, aiming behind him, and pulled the trigger again.
Another marble shattered, turning into shards of glass.
“No…” the young man roared in anger.
This time, the foolish grin on his face vanished, replaced by disbelief and pure terror.
After a long pause, the young man stiffly turned his neck to face Xiao Yu, looking as though he had just seen a ghost.
“Those three glass marbles, each one could have caused a disaster,” Xiao Yu said coldly, glaring at the young man. “An explosion, a car crash, and the collapse of a building’s load-bearing wall.”
As he spoke, he glanced at the nearby residential building, an old six-story structure with storefronts on the ground floor. It wasn’t built with a sturdy frame. Imagine what would happen if the load-bearing wall collapsed—how would the building hold up?
“Wh… why?” the young man stammered, his eyes fixed on Xiao Yu.
“Imitation.” Xiao Yu didn’t hide the truth.
There was no need to conceal anything from a dead man. “I can mimic you—your actions, your intentions. As long as my intelligence is high enough, I can even replicate your thoughts, predict your moves and… outpace you.”
His system ability—Mimicry Expert.
This ability reminded Xiao Yu of a certain movie, The Avengers. There was a character, a master mimic, who could replicate anyone’s skills and analyze their every move. He could even execute their abilities faster than they could themselves.
Of course, Xiao Yu’s imitation wasn’t quite as overpowered. He couldn’t shapeshift or replicate weapons. It was purely about copying the opponent’s moves and predicting their behavior.
“I see…” The young man’s face twisted back into that foolish grin, dazed and vacant. “So… you’re the real monster… and I’m just… normal.”
“You really want to leave this world that badly?”
Xiao Yu tucked his pistol into his underarm holster, pulled out a pack of cigarettes, and lit one up. He took a drag and sat down on the curb, not bothering to look at the young man anymore.
“They always thought… no one wanted me.”
The young man didn’t run. Instead, he sat down beside Xiao Yu, grinning foolishly as he watched the cars pass by.
“From the time I was… just a kid, I was dumped… at the orphanage. They all thought… I was an idiot.”
“Is that so? Well, that sounds like a pretty sad story.” Xiao Yu nodded. “So you became a killer because you thought the world wronged you?”
“It’s not that it… wronged me. It’s just… cold.” The young man chuckled stupidly, his face gradually turning pale, and his skin taking on a bluish tint. “Then… I met my master… Little Joker. He taught me how to deal with… this world. Big Joker, that’s the name my master gave me… my second name. But this time… I really will disappear… from this world for good… I promise… in my next life, no one will ever call me… an idiot again!”
“Ahhh,” Xiao Yu exhaled a puff of smoke, his gaze distant and unfocused. He didn’t even bother to glance at the young man next to him. He knew the young man wanted to die, and even with all his powers, there was no stopping it.
Because the moment Xiao Yu had rushed over, the young man had already bitten down on a false tooth.
He was always just an unwanted fool, who found a home with an assassin group and got two names in this world: Fool and Big Joker. But Little Joker—that was the real leader. Big Joker was just a fool’s title.
【Ding! Congratulations, host, for solving…】
“Was it really the world’s fault?”
Xiao Yu looked up at the sky, his tone laced with mockery. This time the world took the blame, and it wasn’t even unjust.
Case closed.

Damn, this scene is epic
Yep. 😀 This novel is surprisingly good in my opinion.
