Chapter 2: Sister Has Come Looking for You
by tinytree‘Haha, did I scare you? Bet you’ve never encountered such a low-key guy before, right? Did I disgust you?’ Xiao Yu mused inwardly, assuming the posture of an overbearing CEO, his feigned arrogance reminiscent of a strutting rooster.
After a moment, Mu Qingwu regained her composure and smiled, her expression blossoming like a field of flowers in spring, adding to her already captivating beauty.
To Mu Qingwu, the young man before her…
No, he seemed more like a dashing big boy, strikingly handsome. His tall, proud nose added a sense of resoluteness to his appearance. His eyes, deep like the night sky, hid his thoughts well beyond one’s grasp. His stature only added to his presence.
When he had walked into the private room, Mu Qingwu estimated the young man to be about six feet tall. And when his handsome face broke into a smile, it shone with the brilliance of the sun.
Mu Qingwu felt a twinge of curiosity. How could a boy as charming as him be lacking a girlfriend?
Why was he here on a blind date?
Casting aside her inner distractions, Mu Qingwu curved her lips into a teasing smile.
“And what if I refuse?”
“Refuse?” Xiao Yu, embodying the flair of a theatrical hero, responded earnestly, “I do hope you won’t miss this golden opportunity. It’s not wise to narrow your own path.”
“Hahahaha!” Mu Qingwu burst into laughter, unable to contain herself any longer.
Her laughter melted the icy aura surrounding her, transforming her into a vision of allure and charm.
The ice beauty had come to life.
Xiao Yu gazed at Mu Qingwu, utterly captivated and slightly dazed by her transformation.
After a while, Mu Qingwu’s laughter subsided, her sparkling eyes seemingly whispering secrets.
A mischievous glint appeared in her eyes as she nodded, “Alright.”
“Ah?” Xiao Yu snapped back to reality, bewildered. “What?”
“Weren’t you asking me to accept you?” Mu Qingwu’s smile deepened, “Alright then.”
“Uh!” Confusion painted Xiao Yu’s face as if it were marked by a question mark.
Thunder seemed to roll in his head, his mind tingling with shock.
How could she agree so easily? Why wasn’t she following the script? Something about this felt entirely off!
Just as Xiao Yu was grappling with his confusion, a knock on the door interrupted the tense atmosphere.
A waiter entered, his eyes brightening upon seeing Xiao Yu, followed by a visibly embarrassed confession, “Sir, I apologize for the mistake earlier. This is actually private room No. 6, and the No. 9 you’re looking for is right next door.”
Xiao Yu: ( ̄□ ̄)
Xiao Yu, in a state of shock and disbelief, could only think, ‘This is so embarrassing.’
After the waiter left, Xiao Yu, battling a tidal wave of embarrassment, turned to face Mu Qingwu, who was now giving him a sly, half-smile.
Feeling a tingling sensation on his scalp and goosebumps creeping up his neck, Xiao Yu was overcome with an urge to run away, wishing he could disappear into thin air.
‘The embarrassment is almost unbearable. But, if I don’t act embarrassed, then the embarrassment falls on others,’ he reassured himself.
With a facade of composure, Xiao Yu managed a strained smile toward the woman.
“Sister, it appears there’s been a slight misunderstanding.”
Though he lacked a mirror, he was acutely aware that his current expression could be best described as awkwardly polite.
“Oh?” Mu Qingwu, barely suppressing a chuckle, responded, “And what might that misunderstanding be?”
“Um…” Xiao Yu gave an awkward laugh, “So you’re not actually my blind date, are you?”
“Who says I’m not?” Mu Qingwu replied playfully, “As of now, I am.”
“Ah!” Xiao Yu stood up, his expression turning serious.
“Sister, I don’t think we’re quite right for each other. Don’t feel bad, this parting is just so we can have a better meeting next time. I’ll take my leave now.”
With that, he hurriedly left.
Watching his retreating back, Mu Qingwu chuckled and shook her head. She slowly rose, her noble and elegant, icy demeanor returning.
Blind dates, they seemed unexpectedly amusing.
As she pondered the concept of blind dating, Mu Qingwu’s expression gradually shifted, becoming somewhat strained. Visions of her mother’s tearful figure surfaced in her mind, along with her pleading words,
“Qingwu, you’re not getting any younger. Even if you don’t want to marry right now, can’t you at least find a partner to put your mother’s heart at ease?”
“I’m begging you, my dear, you’re already 28.”
“And sometimes, I really resent your father. Why did he have to leave so early, entrusting the company to you?”
“If it weren’t for this troublesome company, you wouldn’t have ended up like this. What if I’m no longer here and you’re all alone? How will I face your father when I meet him again? Qingwu, please, find yourself a partner.”
Mu Qingwu’s expression grew complex, a mix of emotions swirling within.
‘Maybe I should just find someone temporarily, just to put on a show and ease my mother’s worries? But who?’ she mused.
Then it struck her.
‘That young man who just left, he was here for a blind date too, wasn’t he? That means he’s single. And his act of pretending to be repulsive, it didn’t seem like he was serious about the date either.’
“Ha!”
A light chuckle escaped her lips as an idea formed in her mind. ‘Since neither of us is eager to find someone, and we both want to avoid our parents’ nagging, why not collaborate and stage a little drama?’
Her lips curved into a sly smile.
“Private room No. 9, right?”
Mu Qingwu gracefully rose, her elegant stride carrying her toward the door. “Little brother, your big sister is coming to find you.”
