Chapter 220: What Exactly Did They Do?
by tinytree“Remember Wang Mei?” Xiao Yu stared directly into Peng Junlong’s eyes, speaking slowly and deliberately. “Where’s her body?”
Peng Junlong’s body trembled at the mention of Wang Mei. His head dropped, and he sat there, visibly shaking, as if terrified.
“Not talking?” Xiao Yu’s tone turned colder. “Do you even understand what murder means? Do you know the consequences?”
Still, Peng Junlong said nothing.
“Or do you think we don’t have any evidence?” Xiao Yu shook his head. “Think about it. If we’ve found you, that already tells you something. Oh, by the way, those fifty-three cameras, the tubes used to pump anesthesia and hallucinogens, where are they hidden?”
At this, Peng Junlong couldn’t hold it together anymore. His body visibly shook.
“That villa’s basement is full of your fingerprints and footprints…” Xiao Yu smirked. “Think that evidence is enough?”
“Stop! Stop talking!” Peng Junlong suddenly shouted, his face pale with fear. It was as if he was remembering something horrifying. He looked at Xiao Yu, panic in his eyes. “I can’t tell you anything! If I talk… I’m dead. My parents will be killed too!”
What?
Xiao Yu was momentarily stunned. In this day and age, death threats like this should be laughable.
Was Peng Junlong a fool? Clearly not.
So, for him to believe someone could kill both him and his family if he talked… Who on earth could have that kind of power?
“The guy with the rainbow-colored dragon tattoo—who is he?” Xiao Yu pressed on.
The police had already investigated Peng Junlong’s associates, but no one matched that description. It seemed the two men who had been with him three years ago weren’t from the city.
“I can’t! I really can’t say anything!” Peng Junlong’s fear was palpable. “If I talk, I’ll die! Everyone will die! You don’t understand how ruthless they are. To them, people are just toys, livestock… food!”
Xiao Yu’s heart sank. His pulse quickened as an unsettling thought crept into his mind.
Could it be that the meat Xie Shasha had eaten… He didn’t even want to finish the thought. This crossed a line—something no human should ever contemplate.
“Don’t force me! I can’t say a word!” Peng Junlong was now completely panicked.
He rambled incoherently. It was clear that whoever these men were, they had instilled a deep, primal fear in him.
“Not talking?” Xiao Yu sneered. “Do you really have such a death wish?”
“No, I don’t want to die!” Peng Junlong shouted back. “Besides, what happened to Wang Mei wasn’t my doing! It was them, it was all them!”
A cold laugh escaped Xiao Yu as he stared at Peng Junlong.
At that moment, Peng Junlong froze, realizing he had just slipped up. This wasn’t the result of stupidity, but rather the natural reaction of someone overwhelmed by fear or panic.
“Don’t worry, the police will protect your parents,” Xiao Yu reassured him. “And you too. If you come clean about everything, it might even help reduce your sentence.”
“Really?” Peng Junlong’s face lit up, as if he’d been thrown a lifeline in the middle of drowning.
“Do the police lie?” Xiao Yu smiled. “Now, what are their names, and what do they do?”
Protecting Peng Junlong’s parents was indeed necessary. As for Peng Junlong himself… well, promising him safety might not be entirely truthful, but was it unethical? Xiao Yu had never concerned himself with such details. After all, no one ever said being a cop meant being a saint.
“I met them eight years ago!”
Peng Junlong finally started talking, eager to lighten his punishment.
“It was in a bar. I had my eye on a girl, but so did they. We almost fought over her. The bar owner stepped in, we had a drink together, and that’s how we became acquainted. After that, we ran into each other at the bar a few more times. We got along, and eventually, we started hanging out together, even, you know… fooling around with women. I don’t know their real names. The guy with the rainbow dragon tattoo, his buddy called him ‘Second Brother.’ The other one, we called ‘Third Brother.’ I was the youngest, so I called them ‘Second Brother’ and ‘Third Brother’ too. One time, they took me to that villa. The one in question. They said they were heading back home and tossed me the keys, asking me to help out with the renovation. I figured, why not? We’re friends. So, I did it.
“They even sent me some blueprints. We installed a lot of cameras, some weird pipes, and built a basement. Later, they came back again. This time, we met a girl at the bar. Wang Mei. That night, the three of us and Wang Mei went to a hotel together. ‘Second Brother’ liked Wang Mei, so he gave her the keys to the villa, telling her the house was hers.”
Everything started clicking into place. Xiao Yu’s mind began to analyze the timeline. Wang Mei was still in college at the time, probably home in Bencheng during a break. That was when she met Peng Junlong and his friends. And she ended up partying with three men at a hotel.
Xiao Yu had to admit, Wang Mei’s behavior was reckless, and it seemed like she was rewarded with the villa because of it.
But something didn’t sit right.
Xiao Yu frowned. A woman like Wang Mei, in the eyes of certain men, wouldn’t be worth that kind of gift. A villa worth five million, just like that? It didn’t add up.
Unless…
Xiao Yu’s eyes suddenly lit up.
The purpose behind giving away the villa was far from innocent. Could it be that seven years ago, a plan was already in motion?
“At first, I couldn’t figure out why Second Brother and Third Brother would give a house to someone like her. What were they up to?” Peng Junlong continued. “But later, when they took me to the basement, I finally understood their real motive. Voyeurism! The thrill was definitely there. Through the cameras, we could watch everything Wang Mei and her boyfriend did—every intimate moment. That’s when I realized Second Brother and Third Brother had this kind of fetish. But to be honest, it didn’t seem that strange to me.
“As the years went by, our relationship grew tighter. They would go away every now and then, but when they came back, we’d hang out together. Sometimes, we’d invite Wang Mei to come along. Because of our connection, Second Brother and Third Brother even took me on trips to other cities. But each time, we never flew or took the train. We always traveled in a luxury bus.”
As Peng Junlong mentioned these trips, his face twisted with a strange expression—one that carried an unmistakable sense of horror.
Noticing this shift, Xiao Yu’s voice turned cold as he asked.
“What exactly did you all do during those trips?”
“Women, kids, men, and…” Peng Junlong’s complexion turned pale, and his voice wavered. “They’re real psychos… some of them are… not even human.”
Not human? Xiao Yu stared intently at Peng Junlong.
‘What on earth did they do for you to say something like that?’
