Chapter 245: I’m Still Just a Kid
by tinytreeSomething big was about to happen. Terrorists had appeared in S City.
What are terrorists?
Anyone with half a brain knows exactly what they are.
Whether it was on Earth in Xiao Yu’s past life or in this parallel world he now lived in, terrorists were universally treated with the utmost severity. No mercy was shown—relentless efforts were made to hunt them down and eliminate them.
Why? Because they were too brutal, too dangerous, and posed an enormous threat to society, constantly creating havoc through acts of terror.
Countless innocent lives were lost to these monsters every year around the globe.

Provincial Armed Police General Hospital
In a certain special ward, Xiao Yu stood coldly by the bedside, staring down at the unconscious female robber. No, she should be called what she really was—a terrorist.
Shu Yuzhen, female, 29 years old, resident of S City…
All her information had been dug up. They’d also discovered that her ID and bank accounts had gone unused for the past two years.
Was that possible?
Absolutely.
It could only mean one thing—during those two years, she’d been in a place where no ID was needed, and there was no need to spend money.
What kind of place was that?
Xiao Yu’s expression grew colder, a chilling intensity in his eyes.
That place had to be found. Not only that—anyone who had come into contact with Shu Yuzhen, anyone even suspected of being involved with terrorists, had to be rounded up. Not a single one could slip through. The threat they posed to society was just too great.
“I swear, little brother, I really don’t want to see you, you know that?”
The unmistakable grumbling of Wang Dong came from behind him.
“Can you stop causing trouble everywhere you go? Seriously, wherever you show up, something blows up.”
The coldness on Xiao Yu’s face faded as he turned around. Seeing Wang Dong, he broke into a grin.
“You think I want this? The big boss sent me to the provincial capital for a little stroll and to help with the case. I’m still a kid! Don’t expect too much from me.”
“A kid… Really? Where’s your shame?” Wang Dong rolled his eyes. “I’m starting to think you’re turning into some kind of walking disaster magnet. Admit it, wherever you go, trouble follows, right?”
“Uh, well…” Xiao Yu chuckled awkwardly. “That has nothing to do with me. It’s just my constitution.”
‘It’s all fate’s fault—and the system’s! I’m innocent!’
“Anyway, since you’re here, let’s cut to the chase.” Without wasting a moment, Wang Dong continued, “I’m thinking—”
“No, you’re not thinking.” Xiao Yu interrupted instantly. “Don’t even try to pass the command over to me. This time, you’re in charge. I’m just here to assist with the investigation.”
He thought about the system’s time limit and felt a chill run down his spine. His brain started whirring, trying to figure out a way to survive this mess.
“Pfft, like you have a choice,” Wang Dong scoffed. “If I had your skills, do you think I’d be asking for help? I’d handle it all on my own.”
“I’m definitely not taking charge of this,” Xiao Yu shook his head. “Besides can we even still call this a case?”
“Tsk!” Wang Dong grimaced as if his teeth hurt. “Terrorists are still criminals, right? So it should count as a case.”
Even he wasn’t sure anymore.
Since becoming the leader of Team Two, Wang Dong had rarely dealt with terrorists. Every time they were involved, it wasn’t just the police—national security and the military always got involved.
The police? They weren’t usually qualified to handle something like this.
Take the current situation, for example.
When he came to check on his little bro, Wang Dong had taken a peek at that steel ball bomb. It almost scared the life out of him. If that thing went off, the damage would be terrifying.
Did he really think regular cops could handle something like that?
Yeah, right!
“But,” Wang Dong said, shrugging, “it’s not my idea to put you in charge. It’s the boss’s orders.”
‘Does your big boss even have a conscience?’ Xiao Yu’s mouth twitched.
On the one hand, he felt a little happy that someone recognized his abilities, but on the other hand, there was a growing sense of unease.
In the end, it felt like he was the one carrying all the weight.
Suddenly, a faint moan came from the bed, followed by a rustling sound. Having her nose broken and both arms shattered—waking up without pain would be a miracle.
Xiao Yu turned his head and locked eyes with a chilling stare.
Shu Yuzhen, lying quietly on the hospital bed, stared at him with eyes cold as a viper’s, radiating pure hatred. Her gaze was fixed on Xiao Yu, her eyes filled with venomous malice.
If looks could kill, Xiao Yu would’ve been reduced to a crunchy snack by now.
“Awake?” Xiao Yu stared directly into those cold eyes, his voice icy. “Not planning to say anything?”
Shu Yuzhen didn’t even blink, her gaze locked onto Xiao Yu, filled with unrelenting hatred.
“Forget it, people like her… I’ll leave it to you guys.” Xiao Yu shook his head and walked out of the room.
Wang Dong shrugged, speechless, and waved his hand. Two members of Team Two stepped forward, carrying a small case with them. When they opened it, the tools inside were enough to send chills down anyone’s spine. There were also two syringes.
One of the team members glanced at Shu Yuzhen, his eyes gleaming with disturbing excitement, like a child seeing his favorite toy.
The other? He looked at her with pity, the kind of pity you’d see from someone watching a horror movie, where the deranged villain smiles at their victim.
These two were interrogation experts, specially trained by the security department. And right now, they were about to get to work.
“Don’t overdo it,” Wang Dong scolded his men with a glare before stepping out of the room.

Outside the hospital room, Xiao Yu looked at Wang Dong, “Something on your mind?”
Wang Dong flashed an awkward smile, the kind that made you feel like he was about to ask a favor.
In Xiao Yu’s mind, he couldn’t help but think of Uncle Da’s cocky grin and Stephen Chow’s groveling expressions from the old comedies.
‘Wait… what’s the deal?’ Xiao Yu’s face grew wary.
“Just spit it out. And stop smiling like that, it’s creeping me out.”
“Hehe.” Wang Dong chuckled sheepishly. “So, uh, there’s this kid from a relative’s family who wants to be a cop.”
“And?” Xiao Yu asked, confused.
“I was hoping to find him a good mentor,” Wang Dong explained. “He’s around your age, so, as a favor to your big brother, could you take him under your wing?”
“…”
Xiao Yu stared at Wang Dong like he was dealing with an idiot. “Aren’t you a cop yourself? Can’t you train him?”
“I can’t.” Wang Dong sighed. “Sometimes, the things I do aren’t exactly in the light, you get what I mean?”
Xiao Yu understood immediately.
Wang Dong and his team, due to the nature of their work, operated in the shadows. They protected what needed to be protected, but their methods weren’t always the most upright. His big bro clearly didn’t want his relative’s kid getting exposed to that darker side of things.
“Alright,” Xiao Yu agreed without hesitation. “Once this case wraps up, take me to meet him.”
“Thanks,” Wang Dong grinned widely. “Next time you’re in the capital, I’ll have my wife cook you a feast. Not to brag, but her cooking skills are top-notch.”
“Got it.” Xiao Yu shook his head, smiling.
An hour later, the two Team Two members emerged from the room.
