Chapter 314: We Will Eventually Meet
by tinytreeXiao Yu firmly gripped that hand. Immediately after, a leg swung toward his face.
Xiao Yu blocked that leg with steady composure.
In an instant, the two of them sprang up from the rooftop. Their fists collided.
Their moves were so fast they dazzled the eye—both using speed against speed. Xiao Yu and Wen Xulong’s hands and feet struck directly at each other’s vital points with every move.
In just a split second, these two men, each overwhelmingly powerful, displayed a new way of killing before the world.
There were no flashy maneuvers, and no drawn-out preludes—only a terrifying level of efficiency.
Every attack followed the shortest path, at the greatest speed, with the strongest force. Their techniques were the most direct, most decisive, and most ferocious forms of slaughter.
At this moment, they made killing cease to be an art and instead become the work of an assembly line… until Xiao Yu’s fist reached the other man’s throat.
He could have shattered Wen Xulong’s windpipe on the spot.
Wen Xulong had already closed his eyes, wearing a faint smile.
“Is there really a need for this?”
With lightning speed, Xiao Yu withdrew his fist, calmly watching him. Having the expertise of a medical specialist, he had noticed that Wen Xulong’s body was severely compromised, and strenuous activity would only hasten his death. Moments earlier, Wen Xulong had deliberately attacked—he wanted to die. Xiao Yu did not kill him, but Wen Xulong did not have much time left anyway.
“Hah!” Wen Xulong stopped fighting. He let out a bitter laugh. “How did you figure it out?”
The two sat back down on the rooftop as though nothing had happened.
“I’m something of a doctor,” Xiao Yu said again, passing him a cigarette and looking toward the girl in the hospital room. “You have good taste, and what you said before was right. Some people’s eyes can see, but their hearts are blind. Some people cannot see at all, yet their hearts remain pure.”
“Yes… cough!”
Wen Xulong took a drag on his cigarette and coughed. His complexion was not only pale but had taken on a sickly yellow hue.
“Let’s talk about the case,” Xiao Yu said quietly. “Did you kill your three family members?”
“Yes.” Wen Xulong nodded.
“You also killed your younger brother’s adoptive parents?” Xiao Yu continued.
“I did,” Wen Xulong nodded again.
“How did you use mind control on your younger brother?” That was the part Xiao Yu was most curious about.
“When he was seventeen, I traveled around the country with him for a year, pretending to be his friend,” Wen Xulong said, taking another drag. “I met him again this year. Ten days was enough.”
“What about the novel plot?” Xiao Yu also took a puff on his cigarette.
“You’ve already guessed.” Wen Xulong smiled, shaking his head. “He’s the only brother I have. When our parents passed, I didn’t fulfill my duties as an older brother. So before I die… I figured I’d let him see his novel come to life. It’s not bad.”
Xiao Yu asked nothing further. The case was already clear.
They simply sat there together, all the way until daybreak—until a helicopter appeared in the sky.
Xiao Yu turned to look at Wen Xulong beside him. He was still sitting there, face full of gentle warmth as he gazed toward a distant window.
Yet, he was no longer breathing.
“In your next life, then,” Xiao Yu said calmly, watching Wen Xulong’s expression of tender longing.
“There must be a next life.”
Unfortunately, the two brothers never saw each other one last time. Unfortunately, lovers must wait for another life to be reunited.
A past page—if it can remain unturned, better not to turn it. Stirring up the dust may blind one’s eyes.
【Ding! Congratulations to the Host for solving the case.】

Bincheng.
Inside a certain movie theater, a young couple was heading to the ticket checkpoint.
“Little brother, why aren’t you holding my hand?”
Mu Qingwu pouted as she looked at Xiao Yu by her side, her slightly rounded belly showing.
“…”
Xiao Yu stopped in his tracks. Turning his head, he eyed his wife with a warm smile, “Sis, I’m holding popcorn and juice. I’m out of hands.”
“Then I’ll hold the popcorn,” she said with a soft smile, reaching out a fair hand. “I want you to hold me.”
Xiao Yu stared straight at Mu Qingwu for three seconds, then lowered his head and asked with a laugh, “Are you being coy?”
“I am,” she replied. Her eyes curved into delighted crescents. “Are you saying I can’t?”
“All right, all right!”
With no other choice, Xiao Yu placed one tub of popcorn in that outstretched, fair hand. Then, freeing his hand, he held his wife’s other hand.
“Is this good now?” he asked.
“Mm.”
Mu Qingwu beamed happily. Her beautiful eyes shone with soft warmth, her face glowing with a purity unsullied by anything.
“Sis, you’ve changed,” Xiao Yu said while holding her hand.
“Have I?”
“Mm. Not only can you act coy…”
“What else?”
“You’re more and more like a woman.”
“Anything more?”
“You used to be like a little mom.”
“And now?”
“Now you’re like a little darling.”
“Do you like it?”
“…”
“If you won’t answer, I’ll tell your mom.”
“I like it. I like you most of all, Sis!”
The young couple reached a consensus. After their tickets were checked, they headed toward the screening room.
Xiao Yu was keeping his promise.
While his wife watched the movie, he watched her. Even though she was pregnant, Mu Qingwu’s beauty remained enchanting, cool, and elegant.
A well-known line echoed in Xiao Yu’s mind: Sister, I’d love to live off you.
Recalling his own awkward youth in a past life, Xiao Yu grinned widely, filled with memories.
“What are you smiling about?” Mu Qingwu turned her head, chiding him with a glance. “Watch the movie properly.”
“The movie’s not as good as you,” Xiao Yu said truthfully.
“What if I stop looking good?”
She felt delighted at heart but masked her joy with a proud tilt of the head.
“Even if you don’t look good anymore…” Xiao Yu pulled Mu Qingwu into his arms. “You’ll only suit my taste more and more.”
“Well then, what if we never met?” Leaning in her brother’s embrace, Mu Qingwu’s eyes glimmered with a trace of nostalgia. “If you hadn’t gone to the wrong room during that blind date, if I hadn’t kidnapped you… would we still have met?”
“In that case…”
Xiao Yu thought for a moment and answered seriously, “If I hadn’t met you back then, Sis, you’d still need to be careful of fire, be careful on those busy streets, be careful of the boy destined to appear. We will eventually meet.”
