Chapter 315: Come Hide in My Arms
by tinytreeThe cozy warmth of the room embraced them. The lights glowed like tiny suns, their gentle radiance softly filling the hearts of the young couple.
“Dummy, what are you listening to?”
Mu Qingwu’s delicate hand brushed over his short hair as she smiled tenderly. Her gaze fell on her husband, who had his head resting on her stomach, listening intently.
“Sis, the baby’s moving!”
Xiao Yu beamed with a goofy grin. He looked like a fool, but his eyes sparkled with joy.
He was full of anticipation for the baby’s arrival. Ready to become a father. Fully aware of the responsibilities that came with it.
After listening for a while, Xiao Yu, fully content, nestled into Mu Qingwu’s embrace.
“Sis, do you think it’s a boy or a girl?”
“If you want to know, it’s simple enough,” she teased with a gentle laugh, holding her silly husband close.
“Never mind.” Xiao Yu shook his head. “Let’s wait until the day the baby is born.”
“Ha…” Her eyes shimmered softly as Mu Qingwu playfully pinched her brother’s sharp nose. “Before I met you, what kind of boy were you?”
“Just an ordinary one,” Xiao Yu replied, resting his head on her arm with a grin. “I was mischievous as a kid, a troublemaker as I grew older. I wasn’t good enough to be a model student, but I wasn’t bad enough to be a delinquent. I was terrible at video games, and my looks were barely passable until I became a police officer.”
“That simple?” A flicker of something indescribable flashed through Mu Qingwu’s eyes. “At 22 years old, tall and handsome, gentle and warm, cheerful and sunny, with countless friends, a great sense of humor… Why is it that you’ve never been in a relationship?”
‘Because I’m a reincarnated time traveler. Who had the time to flirt with kids back then?’
With righteous conviction, Xiao Yu declared, “Because I was waiting for you.”
“Ha!”
Mu Qingwu’s eyes curved into crescents as she laughed. She clearly knew her husband was spouting nonsense, but she just loved hearing it.
Suddenly.
“Sigh!” Mu Qingwu let out a sigh.
“Huh?” Xiao Yu looked puzzled. “Why are you sighing?”
“I don’t know why, but every day around this time, I get this feeling,” Mu Qingwu said, her crescent-shaped eyebrows arching. “Waves of hunger keep coming over me. Husband, could you make me a midnight snack?”
Laughing loudly, Xiao Yu leaned in and gave her a quick kiss. “Hungry is hungry, huh? Honestly, though, I can’t do two things at once.”
“Hmm?” Mu Qingwu was stunned.
“So, do you want me to go heat up some porridge first,” Xiao Yu asked softly, looking at her, “Or… should I keep kissing you a little longer?”
What a mischievous husband, always asking for something in return.
Mu Qingwu’s red lips moved slightly. She kissed her naughty husband’s lips.

A pot of fragrant lean meat porridge was ready. The young couple happily enjoyed their meal.
“Handsome, right?”
Seeing his wife staring at him, Xiao Yu smugly sipped his porridge, basking in self-admiration.
“Mm, handsome,” Mu Qingwu replied with a light laugh. “So handsome that even if you turned into a pig one day, I’d still be able to spot you in the pigsty at a glance.”
Xiao Yu, “…”
‘Wow, dear wife, your sense of humor is something else? But wait, who’s the pig here?’
Seeing the bowl Mu Qingwu handed him, Xiao Yu stood up with a smile and went to refill it for her.
Mu Qingwu had been eating more and more lately. Sometimes, she’d get hungry in the middle of the night. Eating for two was normal—after all, the baby needed to grow.
It just made things a bit tougher for her husband.
Once the little expectant mother had eaten her fill and the dishes were cleaned up, Xiao Yu held her hand and led her out into the villa courtyard for a stroll.
That’s just how it is during pregnancy—after eating, you can’t lie down right away. A bit of movement helps digestion. Otherwise, it’s bad for the body.
“Divorce rates these days are so high,” Mu Qingwu teased, glancing at her husband. “Aren’t you scared?”
“Of course I’m scared,” Xiao Yu admitted honestly, nodding. “Sometimes I think the government should come up with better ways to lower divorce rates.”
“Oh? And what brilliant ideas do you have?” Mu Qingwu asked with a smile.
“It’s simple, pass a regulation,” Xiao Yu said, grinning. “Anyone who wants to divorce has to go through the wedding process in reverse.”
“First, both families would gather to discuss and pick an auspicious date for the divorce. On the divorce day, all doors and windows would be decorated with black banners featuring the word divorce. Relatives and friends would be notified to return their wedding gift money. A divorce procession would be filmed the entire way, with firecrackers set off under the wife’s family’s building. And then the husband would carry his wife back upstairs to return her to her family.”
Shaking his head with a smile, Xiao Yu said softly, “Now that would be a proper ending.”
“If there aren’t enough children to divide, what then?”
Mu Qingwu laughed so hard she swayed, linking her arm through her brother’s and leaning against his shoulder.
“That’s simple,” Xiao Yu replied with a grin. “Before the divorce, we just put in a little more effort and have another baby, problem solved.”
“And if two still aren’t enough?”
Mu Qingwu tilted her head up, looking at her brother with eyes as soft as clouds and water.
“Then we’ll have an entire football team,” Xiao Yu said, baring his teeth in a wide grin. “Who knows, maybe they’ll bring glory to the nation someday.”
“I’m not a pig!”
Rolling her beautiful eyes, Mu Qingwu feigned annoyance and pinched her mischievous brother hard.
Yet it was impossible to hide the happiness on her face, that look of expectation, as though she could already see the joyful scene of a house full of children.
Xiao Yu watched Mu Qingwu with a cheerful glint in his eyes.
‘Women are truly creatures who say one thing and mean another. They say no, but their hearts tell a different story.’
But…
Seeing the smile on her face, something stirred in Xiao Yu’s heart.
In his past life, he had never spent all four seasons with anyone, nor shared a breeze by the sea.
The winter didn’t last until summer.
The summer didn’t make it to winter.
Back then, he was always alone.
Suddenly, a pair of gentle arms wrapped around him, pulling him into a warm embrace.
“Sometimes, you don’t always have to pretend to be so cheerful, carefree, and happy,” Mu Qingwu murmured softly, her cheek pressed against his.
“If one day you ever feel tired, turn around and come hide in my arms. My embrace might be smaller than yours, but I’ll hold you tightly with all my strength. I won’t let go.”
Xiao Yu closed his eyes and rested his chin on Mu Qingwu’s shoulder.
‘How many boys dream of hearing such words? A sister like this… is enough to steal someone’s heart.’
“Got it.”
Taking Mu Qingwu’s hand, Xiao Yu walked toward the door of their home.
Following her brother’s steps, Mu Qingwu smiled blissfully.
Living slowly, loving you slowly, growing old together slowly.
Walking alongside you like this.
Flowers will bloom again.
And different summers will come once more.
