Chapter 355: San You Na La
by tinytree“The tracking signal has disappeared.”
Standing on the rooftop of the residential complex, Xiao Yu fixed his eyes on his watch. Just then, an armed helicopter appeared from the side of the building. He took a few strides, sprinted, and leaped—jumping straight into the helicopter.
“Go!”
Taking the headset that Zhou Lie handed over and putting it on, Xiao Yu spoke quickly, “They’re going to kill Wu Hanran. If we’re late, he’ll be gone.”
Zhou Lie and Shen Mei, both inside the cabin, changed expressions.
Eight minutes later.
The helicopter arrived at the area where the signal had disappeared.
Everyone exited the helicopter. Xiao Yu dashed into the street and stopped a motorcycle. He yanked the rider off, climbed on, and sped off across the entire zone.
What for?
Using Butterfly’s Nose to find Wu Hanran’s scent. With so many people around, Xiao Yu couldn’t use Leopard’s Speed. A motorcycle could make up for the lack of running speed.
One minute, two minutes, three minutes passed…
Xiao Yu wove through the streets and alleys for a full thirteen minutes until—screeech!
He braked hard. Momentum carried him into a flip, landing lightly on both feet. Xiao Yu raised his head.
‘Found him!’
Behind a certain building, guided by Wu Hanran’s scent, Xiao Yu came to the back door.
“What are you doing?” a security guard blocked his way.
“Police.” Xiao Yu showed his ID.
“Huh?” The guard’s face changed slightly, but he didn’t obstruct further.
However, Xiao Yu instantly turned his head to look at the guard. Normally, when someone sees a police ID, they freeze, look surprised, or show fear. But just now, there was a flicker of panic in this guard’s eyes, and he forced himself to appear calm.
Xiao Yu lashed a kick at the guard’s cheek, knocking him to the ground, unconscious.
He withdrew his leg.
Something was off, but there was no time to figure out what. Saving someone came first.
By then, Zhou Lie arrived with the members of Group Nine. All were fully armed, in standard special forces gear.
Shen Mei also arrived with a group of operatives.
Xiao Yu gestured to the guard, then turned and ran inside.
Zhou Lie and the Group Nine members followed him.
“Take him away,” Shen Mei ordered coldly.
Two operatives hoisted the unconscious guard and left.
“Seal off the area,” Shen Mei issued a second command.
Five teams of operatives spread out to lock down the building. Though Group Five were top-level special operatives, when it came to killing, capturing, and rescuing, Xiao Yu and Zhou Lie’s group were the real experts. Everyone had their role.
By then, Xiao Yu had already dashed upstairs.
He found that lately he’d formed some kind of bond with stairwells.
Wu Hanran’s scent led upward along the steps. Without waiting for Zhou Lie, Xiao Yu took a deep breath.
Leopard’s Speed, Civet’s Agility, Squid’s Touch, Flea’s Leap… he activated one skill after another.
Instead of running up the stairs, he moved like someone scaling walls, rising rapidly from below. It took only five seconds for Xiao Yu to reach the entrance to the eighth-floor fire door and burst through.
He ran at top speed. Closer, closer—the scent grew stronger.
Xiao Yu’s eyes scanned the surroundings, checking each door in turn.
This was a commercial building with small apartment-like units, similar to short-term rentals.
As he sprinted, suddenly—a door opened, slamming toward Xiao Yu as he raced past.
Xiao Yu planted one foot on the right-side wall, shifting his body left to avoid the door. But in the instant he passed it, he saw a man standing in the doorway—and inside the room.
Someone was tied to a chair; two other men were on a window-mounted lift?
A window cleaning platform used by men to clean building glass exteriors.
Something was off.
Xiao Yu’s feet landed at once. The man at the door turned pale and tried to close it.
Xiao Yu rammed into him—and into the door.
Ignoring the man crumpling to the floor, Xiao Yu charged inside. He saw Wu Hanran bound to a chair, eyes bulging. And he also saw the bomb strapped to Wu Hanran’s chest.
Xiao Yu looked instantly toward the window, just in time to see two men standing on the descending platform.
One of them was holding the Yushin-to blade. The other had two remote controls in his hand.
One was for the platform; the other was the bomb trigger.
Right then, that man’s face twisted in a grin as he prepared to press both buttons.
Xiao Yu cursed inwardly, his mind racing faster than any ordinary person could imagine.
What to do?
If the trigger was pressed, Xiao Yu himself could probably escape, but Wu Hanran would be dead for sure. There wouldn’t be enough time to disarm the bomb and save him.
‘What to do… Got it!’
Though it takes a while to describe, less than a second passed.
Xiao Yu suddenly reached out, grabbing the chair and clutching Wu Hanran. Under the stunned gaze of the two men on the platform, Xiao Yu stepped forward at full force.
He crashed through the glass, rushing the platform.
‘Come on, fight me. Do you dare blow us all up now?’
Would they dare?
Yes, they would.
But they were holding the Yushin-to blade, a divine artifact. Could they risk damaging it?
They did not dare. The entire operation and mission centered on taking that blade back to their own country.
Xiao Yu, along with the chair, Wu Hanran, and the bomb, slammed onto the man holding the remote.
The terrifying impact crushed the tall, strapping figure into something dwarf-like. He was as dead as dead could be.
Such a violent collision, plus the weight of four people.
Two steel cables snapped, and the platform tilted, falling downward.
“Fuck!” Xiao Yu was about to go mad.
At the moment his body lost control. He clutched Wu Hanran with one hand, wrapped both legs around the man holding the blade, and simultaneously grabbed the edge of the platform with the other hand.
The corpse of the man who’d been smashed fell away.
Three people’s combined weight, plus the sudden shift in momentum, nearly tore Xiao Yu’s arm off.
Fortunately, he had Bear’s Strength and Rhino’s Defense.
Without them, no one could withstand the three-hundred-plus pounds plus that terrifying inertia.
In the next instant, the platform, Xiao Yu, Wu Hanran, and the knife-wielding man swung on the shaking cable and slammed into the building’s windows.
The glass shattered in an explosion of shards.
Unluckily, they didn’t crash back into the building but hit the gap between two parts of the structure.
Xiao Yu felt the bones in his chest fracture.
The pain nearly kept him from catching his breath. He almost let go.
‘No, I can’t endure this. I’m not going to last.’
Gritting his teeth, Xiao Yu tightened his legs. He yanked the blade-holding man upward with them.
Xiao Yu bit down on the Yushin-to blade.
He released his legs and kicked forward.
‘Off you go.’
The man screamed as he plummeted rapidly, howling in midair.
Clenching the Yushin-to blade between his teeth, Xiao Yu gave a cold, mocking grin.
“Farewell, no time to shake your hand. San you na la!”
