    Chapter Index

The strange, towering creature in front of Shi Ji was indeed the Nether-class anomaly detected by the monitoring room.

To call it a frog would be imprecise. While its head, feet, and skin bore frog-like features, the rest of its body was disturbingly human-like.

The giant frog was covered in a layer of mucus that continuously dripped to the ground, creating a nauseating scene. It flicked its long tongue in and out, a length that rivaled that of a chameleon’s.

Despite the academy’s alarm blaring in the background, Shi Ji paid it no mind. He stood before the anomaly. He looked it over nonchalantly, his gaze roaming across the creature’s body.

“Quite a lot of meat on you, huh.”

Typically, a person encountering an anomaly would be at least a bit nervous. But Shi Ji, instead of showing any fear or tension, appeared completely unconcerned.

“Human, aren’t you afraid of me?”

The giant frog finally spoke, unable to hold back. It didn’t attack Shi Ji immediately because, in its eyes, killing him would be as easy as squashing an ant.

Shi Ji replied casually, “Don’t worry, I won’t kill you.”

The giant frog was taken aback and then burst into laughter.

“Hahaha! Interesting, interesting! Didn’t think I’d run into an idiot the first time I came out to play. Hahaha!”

Shi Ji ignored its mocking laughter, continuing his examination of the creature.

The giant frog, confident in its intimidation, was surprised to see Shi Ji remain unchanged, showing no fear. This lack of reaction began to irritate it. As a Nether-class anomaly, it expected to inspire terror, but this human seemed completely unaffected. It was embarrassing.

The frog stopped its awkward laughter and leaned closer to Shi Ji. It extended a clawed hand just inches from his face.

“Human, you really aren’t afraid of me?”

Shi Ji didn’t respond. Instead, his eyes lit up with determination. A faint glow enveloped his hand, and soon he was gripping a silver-white longsword.

With swift precision, Shi Ji moved. The longsword sliced through the air.

Blood spurted as the outstretched arm of the giant frog fell to the ground.

In that instant, the frog’s body shuddered. Its eyes widened in shock. What just happened? It looked down at the stump where its arm used to be, processing the pain.

“Thanks for the meal! I won’t kill you today. You can go.” Shi Ji’s voice was calm.

The frog watched in horror as Shi Ji picked up its severed arm and walked away with it.

The frog’s face twisted in rage. The event left it stunned, and now anger took over. This human had not only wounded it but had shown complete disrespect, never even looking it in the eye.

Nether-class anomalies were feared for a reason. Was its reputation going to be tarnished here?

    No… no… no!!!

“Stop right there, you little brat!” the giant frog roared. It finally snapped.

It lunged forward, racing toward Shi Ji with furious speed.

    “What? What’s happening now?”

    “What’s going on?”

    “The anomaly’s energy… it disappeared.”
