Chapter 109: Indifferent
by tinytreeAccording to the detected data, Yinshuang City had been experiencing frequent anomalies. This could lead to a significant increase in the appearance of aberrants causing chaos. This meeting aimed to provide a detailed explanation of the situation and formulate response measures.
Given the gravity of the situation, this was the first such meeting held in Yinshuang City since the major upheaval. Due to the severity of the issue, the Yinshuang Branch of the Star Alliance had already reported the situation to the headquarters. If local heroes were unable to cope, reinforcements would be dispatched from the headquarters.
Should such a scenario occur, it would be a major blow to the morale of most heroes in Yinshuang. Many heroes had a strong sense of honor, and failure would be a deep shame—an unavoidable psychological burden for many.
The meeting continued, and before anyone realized it, two hours had passed.
By then, it was noon.
Shi Ji was still sitting in the lounge, the only person there.
In one corner of the lounge, there was a water dispenser with paper cups provided.
Originally, the water dispenser’s tank was half full. After two hours, it was nearly empty.
During this time, Shi Ji had lost count of how many times he had gone to the restroom.
“Sigh… so boring…”
First, he sat, then he lay down, eventually sprawling out on the floor. Alone, he rolled around, utterly lawless.
Checking the time, he thought, “Oh wow, two hours have already passed.”
Faintly hearing sounds from the meeting room, Shi Ji felt a sense of helplessness. Knowing Lin Xinyan well, he understood she wouldn’t leave until the meeting was over. Abandoning her was something he couldn’t bring himself to do. So, he had no choice but to wait idly.
A few minutes later, lying on the chair, Shi Ji suddenly perked up as someone walked in from outside.
He took a closer look.
“Oh, it’s you, uncle,” he said casually.
The person who walked in was dressed in leather, with two swords crossed on his back. It was Blade.
Blade didn’t respond to Shi Ji, not even glancing his way. He walked straight to the water dispenser, filled a paper cup, and drank it in one gulp. Then he tossed the cup into the trash can with perfect aim and turned to leave.
Throughout this process, he completely ignored Shi Ji, acting as if he didn’t exist.
Shi Ji didn’t mind. He jumped up from the chair and followed.
“Hey, uncle. Has Xinyan come out yet?”
This guy was also at the meeting. Logically, the meeting might have ended by now.
Blade remained silent, still ignoring Shi Ji.
Shi Ji frowned slightly, his impression of Blade worsening.
Blade reached the door but stopped. Not because of Shi Ji, but because someone was entering.
Blade’s expression changed, his lips curling into a slight smile.
“What? Black Dragon, you accepting the challenge?”
The person at the door was indeed Black Dragon.
Black Dragon’s expression remained unchanged as he noticed the water droplets on Blade’s lips and understood.
“No, like you, I’m just here for a drink. Can you move aside?”
Blade chuckled, “If I move, will you fight me right now?”
“No.”
“Then I’m sorry.”
Black Dragon kept his gaze fixed on Blade, his eyes growing sharper. Their eyes locked, tension rising, as if battle was imminent.
At that moment, a voice suddenly spoke up.
“Heroes claim to be righteous, yet some do pointless things before a crisis even happens. Ridiculous. And… an S-level hero, no less. It’s ironic. Can’t you wait to duel until after the crisis is over?”
