Chapter 12: True Freedom
by tinytreeDifferent types of Star Heroes had different fighting styles, dictated by their Star Hero type. These combat habits unified the types of weapons used within each major category of Star Heroes.
However, this was not absolute. A small number of individuals might abandon the typical style and develop their own unique fighting approach.
Chariot-ranked heroes excel in charging and usually wield swords, sabers, and similar weapons. Lin Xinyan, being a Chariot-rank, chose the spear as her weapon based on her personal preferences.
Seeing the long spear in Shi Ji’s hand, Lin Xinyan was taken aback.
Long weapons like spears were typically associated with Soldier-rank heroes, so it was a natural assumption. However, she quickly dismissed this notion, realizing that the young man before her was much stronger than she had initially thought. He likely chose the spear as a weapon just as she had.
Not wanting to disturb Shi Ji, she quietly left.
Facing the towering lizard, Shi Ji seemed completely at ease. He casually slung his weapon over his shoulder and leisurely walked towards the lizard.
Gesila approached as well, and the distance between them quickly closed.
After Gesila stopped, Shi Ji continued walking a few more steps forward.
He looked up, confidently smiled, and asked, “Do you really enjoy freedom?”
Despite the imminent battle, Shi Ji’s question was calm.
Gesila bared its teeth and laughed, “Freedom is supreme.”
“Do you know what true freedom is?” Shi Ji asked.
“What?” Gesila was puzzled by Shi Ji’s question.
“True freedom is to disappear completely from this world. Since you revere freedom so much, I’ll grant it to you. Are you ready?” Shi Ji said, his smile turning cold.
Gesila was initially stunned by Shi Ji’s words, then burst into laughter.
“Haha! Haha! You’ve got guts, kid. Don’t think that just because you hit me earlier, you’re something special. I haven’t even used my full strength yet! Prepare to die!”
With a loud roar, Gesila’s sharp claws moved at an invisible speed towards Shi Ji. The attack was swift, with no hesitation, and accompanied by a gust of wind.
The claw did not hit the ground nor raise much dust.
“…”
Gesila was surprised by what it saw.
Its claw had been stopped mid-air by the smaller Shi Ji, who caught it with one hand, appearing completely untroubled.
“What!?”
Ignoring Shi Ji’s speed for a moment, he just caught the claw single-handedly without a change in expression and so effortlessly.
What was this?
“You, why cling to life so desperately when all you want is freedom? I’ll grant you freedom right now,” Shi Ji said, and then vanished.
Gesila quickly turned its head, seeing Shi Ji standing on its right shoulder, smiling.
Before Gesila could process Shi Ji’s actions, Shi Ji disappeared again. The lizard then saw its right arm falling, red blood spraying out. The pain hadn’t yet registered when its left arm fell too.
Pain surged through Gesila’s body.
Argh!!! Argh!!!
Its screams echoed far and wide, reverberating through the dense forest and the sea of clouds.
The next second, the screams stopped. Shi Ji had decapitated Gesila.
The massive body fell with a thunderous crash, kicking up a large cloud of dust. Once the dust settled, peace returned.
