Chapter 126: Scam
by tinytreeIt was understandable why there weren’t many people at this stall. Who would’ve thought that the bullets in the magazine were water bullets? Bursting the balloon would be a miracle.
Xing Yuxiu was fuming. This was the first time he’d encountered such a stingy guy. No wonder the stall had no customers.
Seeing Shi Ji confidently pick up a gun and aim, Xing Yuxiu suddenly thought Shi Ji must have lost his mind.
“Hey! Don’t overestimate yourself, you idiot. I’ll finish these nine bullets and call it quits. I’m not wasting any more money,” Xing Yuxiu said, trying to be helpful, but Shi Ji seemed indifferent.
“No worries, I’m not paying anyway.”
Shi Ji’s optimistic attitude annoyed Xing Yuxiu to no end. He snorted and gave Shi Ji the middle finger.
It was clear that this stall was a scam. Everyone could see that now. Shi Ji’s actions left everyone puzzled.
“Shi Ji, I think we should stop. Xing Yuxiu has a point,” Shi Lin also tried to persuade Shi Ji.
“Don’t worry, I have a plan.”
Then, Shi Ji turned his gaze to Xing Yuxiu.
“How about continuing our little contest? What do you say?”
Since Shi Ji was insistent, Xing Yuxiu couldn’t argue further. It was a rip-off, but he could afford ten yuan.
“Alright!” Xing Yuxiu agreed readily.
“A simple contest is boring. How about we make a bet? Dare?”
“What are we betting?”
“Loser pays for the next outing. How about that?”
“Get lost!” Xing Yuxiu didn’t hesitate to curse back.
Shi Ji had anticipated this reaction. The bet was just a joke, anyway.
Seeing these two, Lin Xinyan and Shi Lin couldn’t help but laugh. The atmosphere seemed to lighten up.
“Alright, you go first. Loser buys fruit juice for everyone,” Shi Ji proposed another bet.
Today’s expenses were all on Xing Yuxiu, so winning or losing didn’t really matter to him. However, with two girls watching, he had to put on a good show. Winning against Shi Ji would also make him feel a lot better.
Xing Yuxiu didn’t say anything, just raised the gun and aimed at the balloons a few meters away.
The water bullets were smooth and elastic, breaking with a slight squeeze. This time, Xing Yuxiu was extra careful with his shots. Even if he could just pop one balloon, it would be worth it. One balloon equaled ten yuan, which meant breaking even.
Xing Yuxiu focused, held his breath, and pulled the trigger.
First shot fired!
It hit. But unfortunately, the balloon didn’t pop. Then the second shot, another hit. But again, the balloon didn’t pop.
Third shot…
Fourth shot…
…
Last shot…
“Damn it! This is ridiculous! Nine shots in the same spot, and it still didn’t pop!”
Xing Yuxiu was furious, feeling utterly cheated.
Seeing him like this, Shi Lin quickly tried to console him, “Oh, it’s alright. It’s the gun’s problem, not your skills.”
Her words calmed Xing Yuxiu down a bit.
At this point, everyone’s attention shifted to Shi Ji.
Xing Yuxiu noticed what Shi Ji was holding.
In Shi Ji’s hand was a water bullet. Xing Yuxiu had been so focused on his own shooting that he didn’t realize Shi Ji had taken all the water bullets out of the guns on the table.
Shi Ji grinned at the indifferent stall owner.
“Uncle, is it okay if I throw these by hand?”
The uncle put down his phone and looked at Shi Ji for a moment, seemingly deep in thought.
After about ten seconds, he finally said, “Sure. Six guns, sixty yuan. Just make sure to pay up.”
