Chapter 134: Why Are You Acting So Cocky at Demon Level?
by tinytreeThe bushes in front had been sliced flat, right up to where Shi Ji’s raised right hand stopped the blade.
“Attacking right off the bat. You really have no manners,” Shi Ji said calmly.
The mantis stood there, suddenly looking at Shi Ji with a bit of disdain.
“Oh, a hero, huh. You managed to block my blade, so you have some skill. Try blocking another one!”
With that, it tried to pull back the blade clamped between Shi Ji’s fingers.
It pulled hard. It didn’t budge. It pulled harder, still didn’t move. It tried several times in a row, each effort stronger than the last, but the blade just wouldn’t come free.
The mantis was greatly shocked. It was unable to believe that this strange young man had such strength. Frustrated, it decided not to bother retrieving that blade. It had two blades, after all. With the right one blocked, it swung the left one from behind Shi Ji’s back.
Swoosh!
A slight sound. Not only was the left blade blocked, but Shi Ji’s left hand had also reached behind to catch it, holding it between his middle finger and index finger just like the first one.
The mantis felt a bit embarrassed. It realized how absurdly skilled this stranger was. No normal person would dare to do something like this.
“A demon level, huh. Why are you acting so cocky? You’re not that important,” Shi Ji said lightly, putting pressure on both blades with his fingers.
Two crisp sounds rang out as the mantis’s two black blades, directly connected to its body, were effortlessly snapped by Shi Ji.
“What! You…”
Seeing its twin blades broken, the mantis was stunned once more. It seemed much more serious now, losing the earlier disdain.
Shi Ji casually tossed the broken blade pieces aside.
Shi Ji finally stood up slowly after he squatted for a while.
Over by the Ferris wheel, the staff had already rescued all the trapped people. They hadn’t left yet and were watching Shi Ji from a distance.
Shi Ji guessed their reason and waved to them, signaling them to leave.
Ordinary people often couldn’t be of much help here, so leaving early was a good thing—safer too.
“Kid, you’re underestimating me too much,” the mantis’s voice came from behind him again.
The tone was obviously furious. But that was expected since Shi Ji hadn’t given the mantis a proper look since his arrival.
Hearing the voice, Shi Ji finally turned around.
“Oh, hello.”
Even now, Shi Ji greeted the mantis calmly and politely. His attitude seemed friendly, but it was clear he still didn’t take the mantis seriously.
The mantis was enraged.
“You little brat! Go to hell!”
With a loud shout, the mantis’s two broken blades suddenly grew back.
Leaning forward, the mantis took a large step and charged at Shi Ji with incredible speed.
Shi Ji remained indifferent, standing still and waiting for the mantis to attack.
Though the mantis was demon level, its speed was indeed impressive. In a split second, it was right in front of Shi Ji, its twin blades slashing down with relentless force. Amid the surging airwaves, the blades’ dark gleam flickered non-stop.
Crash! Bang!
The blades moved in a seamless sequence, cutting through the surrounding bushes and trees, slicing them in half, and leaving chaos in their wake.
The ground itself was riddled with countless slashes, seemingly still at first but then crumbling into pieces in the blink of an eye.
The mantis’s onslaught was fierce and powerful. Its speed was beyond what the naked eye could follow. However, despite the ferocity, it didn’t land a single hit on Shi Ji. He dodged each strike with even greater speed.
Growing serious, Shi Ji decided he had played enough. As the mantis’s blade swung down, he raised his right hand and caught the blade between his middle and index fingers.
Clang! A crisp sound echoed. The blade broke once more, and Shi Ji leaned forward. In a flash of cold light, they passed each other.
The motion ceased. Shi Ji discarded the broken blade to the ground, and along with it, the mantis’s head fell to the ground.
