Chapter 14: Yinshuang Academy
by tinytreeYinshuang also had a hero academy. Unlike the world’s largest and most prestigious Star Hero Academy, it was an ordinary hero academy, known as a preparatory academy for the Star Hero Academy like many others around the world.
This hero academy was named after the city, Yinshuang Academy.
The students of ordinary academies were generally of the Soldier rank, though there were a few from other ranks. These few Star Hero students were pillars of their academies, as most of the rare Star Heroes were in the Star Hero Academy.
Here, students enjoyed more freedom compared to the strictness of the Star Hero Academy. For some, this was the best choice.
Shi Ji came to Yinshuang because of Yinshuang Academy. This was arranged by the Star Hero Academy.
In his nature, Shi Ji initially wanted to return to his old school and live an ordinary life. However, due to the mandatory nature of the arrangement, and the fact that food at the hero academy was free—a huge temptation for the poor Shi Ji—he quickly packed his things and headed to Yinshuang.
After a not-so-perfect sleep and encountering a few small issues, Shi Ji found himself not far from Yinshuang. It took him about ten minutes to hop into the city center.
By now, the optimal lunch time had passed.
Hungry, Shi Ji quickly ate a bowl of beef noodles without beef. After filling his stomach, he followed the address to find Yinshuang Academy.
Hero academies were typically built away from city centers, making them difficult to find for unfamiliar visitors. It took him over an hour to find the right place.
At 4 PM, Shi Ji, dressed in black, stood at the gate of Yinshuang Academy.
Although Yinshuang Academy didn’t match the scale and facilities of the Star Hero Academy, it had all the necessary amenities. However, the most surprising thing was…
“Hey, hey, is this really Yinshuang Academy? Why does it look like a prison?”
Shi Ji looked up at the huge academy before him, bewildered, with three question marks almost visible above his head.
Though smaller than the Star Hero Academy, Yinshuang Academy was still quite large, with surrounding walls over ten meters high. The gate was an especially thick iron gate, making anyone unfamiliar think it was a prison.
Shi Ji had a bad feeling, sensing that he might actually be facing a prison-like experience.
The gate was tightly closed, preventing any entry.
Shi Ji looked around and shouted a few times.
“Hey, is anyone there? Open the gate. If you don’t, I’ll leave!”
No one responded.
Then, he noticed several cameras mounted on a pole, all turning and focusing on him.
What did this mean? Clearly, someone saw him but was ignoring him.
With a light jump, Shi Ji leaped up and hung onto one of the poles, bringing his face close to one of the cameras.
“If you don’t open the gate, I won’t bother entering this lousy academy.”
Just as he finished speaking, a girl’s voice came from the side.
“Are you a monkey? What are you doing hanging up there?”
The voice was clear and somewhat weak.
Shi Ji was taken aback and turned to see a petite girl dressed in formal attire standing nearby.
She was no more than 150 cm tall, maybe even shorter. Despite her small stature, her blue short hair and delicate oval face had a mature look. She crossed her arms over her chest, acting mature, and turned her face away without looking at Shi Ji.
Surprised, Shi Ji unintentionally applied too much force and broke the camera. He didn’t care, casually tossing it into a nearby trash can.
As he descended from the pole and approached the girl, she looked at him and said, “Those cameras cost fifty thousand each. If you deliberately damage them, you have to pay ten times the amount. You just threw five hundred thousand into the trash can.”
Shi Ji’s eyes widened.
“Five hundred thousand…”
Without thinking, he turned and jumped to the trash can, retrieving the camera.
