Chapter 145: A Hero’s New Beginning

Such a sudden turn of events left Divine Hunter baffled. Staring at the communicator, he carefully read the content again. Initially, he thought he must have misread. But after rubbing his eyes and checking again, he realized there was no mistake.

Divine Hunter’s eyes widened in disbelief. He had been taking it easy these past few days and hadn’t hunted any anomalies. He remembered his activities very clearly.

He pondered and pondered, but couldn’t make sense of it. He even considered that the communication device might have malfunctioned, but dismissed the thought. The Star Alliance’s notifications had never made such a basic error before. Checking his hero points, he confirmed that they had indeed increased significantly, now meeting the threshold for an S-level hero promotion.

“Could it be a mistake, attributing someone else’s achievements to me?”

Suddenly, Divine Hunter thought of Shi Ji, the one who had stolen his bow and arrows. But then he shook his head. 

“No, no, that kid’s strength is average at best. He might handle a human-level monster, but a nether-level? No way. But then… what is this all about?”

Divine Hunter’s head was spinning with all these thoughts.

In the end, he decided to let it go. 

“No matter how it happened, the points have already been awarded. So be it. Once the anomaly issues are resolved, I’ll go for the promotion test. What if I actually become an S-level hero.”

Although Shi Ji went to bed early, he still slept in as usual. When he finally woke up, the room was brightly lit by the harsh sunlight. The glaring light made him uncomfortable, causing him to instinctively shield his eyes with his hand.

Shi Ji dine wake up naturally. He was woken up by persistent knocking on the door. Without checking the time, he knew he had overslept again.

“Shi Ji! You jerk! Do you have any shame? You set the time for 8 AM, and now it’s 8:30! I’ve been waiting for half an hour. Get your ass out here!”

Outside, Xing Yuxiu’s angry shouts kept coming.

Shi Ji hurriedly put on his pants and shirt but slowed down when he heard the commotion.

“Hold your horses, I’m coming,” he responded casually.

It took another five minutes before Shi Ji finally walked out from his room.

Opening the door, he felt a wave of embarrassment. He expected to see only Xing Yuxiu, but to his surprise, Lin Xinyan and Chi Yang were there too.

“Uh… sorry, I’m late.”

Shi Ji directed his apology to Lin Xinyan and Chi Yang, ignoring Xing Yuxiu entirely.

Xing Yuxiu, standing off to the side, was furious. “Shi Ji, you jerk, how dare you ignore me!”

Shi Ji paid him no mind.

Lin Xinyan smiled gently. “Alright, alright, let’s not argue. Let’s get going. We’ll grab some food in the city, accompany Chi Yang to the Star Alliance for his hero promotion, and then find a place to settle down.”

Chi Yang nodded. “Thanks for coming along, everyone.”

Shi Ji chuckled, throwing an arm around Chi Yang as they walked away.

“No problem, as long as you’re treating us to breakfast.”

Lin Xinyan followed them, leaving Xing Yuxiu standing there, stomping his foot in frustration, which looked quite comical.

“So, what are we having for breakfast?”

“Anything’s fine with me.”

“Of course, we’re going to the bun shop for some buns.”
