Chapter 152: Blade’s Doubts

At the moment, a meeting of the five S-class heroes was underway, chaired by the director of the Yinshuang Division of the Star Alliance.

“Following a joint investigation by the Star Alliance and the Anomaly Detection Center, we’ve identified a significant point. Currently, about one kilometer directly beneath the city center, we’ve detected a high-energy reaction. The energy levels at one point reached the level of a Devil-class anomaly. We’ve now confirmed that it’s a source of aberrant energy. However, due to technical limitations and the erratic nature of the energy fluctuations, we are still unsure whether this is being emitted by a high-level anomaly or if this is a nest of multiple anomalies pooling their energy together. In the coming days, the Star Alliance will work closely with the Anomaly Detection Center to closely monitor these energy activities. We will release updates to the five of you as the situation develops. Please stay on high alert for any further notifications we send out.”

This information was not being made public and was currently kept confidential. The Star Alliance made this decision mainly to avoid causing widespread panic.

While Yinshuang City did have a large number of heroes, most of them were lower-ranked with limited strength. Facing off against high-level anomalies would be extremely challenging. Such a critical task could only be entrusted to S-class heroes.

The upper management of the Star Alliance’s Yinshuang Division treated this matter with the utmost seriousness.

While tensions were high, they also felt a sense of relief. Though there were only a few S-class heroes in Yinshuang City, three of them were exceptionally powerful and highly renowned in the hero community. As the director spoke, he bowed deeply to the five S-class heroes in gratitude.

Afterward, he grabbed some documents from the side.

The director handed the files first to Jing Xin and Black Dragon, then moved to hand them to Blade and the others.

However, Blade sat there with his arms crossed, not looking at the director or reaching for the documents.

“Master Blade?” the director gently called out.

Hearing the voice, Blade finally snapped out of his daze and reached out to take the file.

Just then, a burst of laughter came from beside him.

“Haha! So you actually zone out too? What’s the matter, thinking about a woman?”

The speaker was a man dressed like a professional fighter, his upper body bare and his lower body clad in white boxing shorts. His wrists and calves were wrapped in white bandages, acting as hand and leg guards. With black hair held back by a white headband, his tough face carried a perpetual smile, always giving off a sense of fiery enthusiasm.

This was none other than Rayger, the last of the S-class heroes in Yinshuang City, making his first appearance. He held the rank of Threshold Hero, just on the verge of something greater.

Though Rayger was officially a threshold Hero, his strength actually surpassed that of Wind Fether. As an Elephant-class Star constitution, his immense strength was complemented by the sheer effort he put into training. He overcame the typical speed disadvantage of his class to become a master of both power and agility.

It wasn’t just Rayger who noticed. Everyone had sensed something was off about Blade since the moment he entered the room. He’d been unusually quiet, seemingly lost in thought. 

This side of Blade was something none of them had ever seen before.

Without saying a word, Blade took the file, stood up, and walked out of the meeting room.

The rest of the group exchanged puzzled looks, wondering what was going on with him.
