    Chapter Index

A loud explosion echoed across the plaza, shaking the ground violently and deafening those nearby.

The explosion was sudden and powerful, causing a strong tremor in the ground. Some curious people looked back to see what had happened, but as soon as they heard the word monster, panic ensued, and they scattered in all directions.

What had been a peaceful, lively scene was instantly shattered by the explosion, plunging the area into chaos. In the center of the plaza, thick clouds of dust billowed into the air. A massive, shadowy figure could be vaguely seen through the smoke.

Shi Ji, who was fixated on the money he was owed, wasn’t about to be distracted by the chaos. He kept his eyes glued to the game owner, waiting for his payment.

The owner, however, wasn’t above trying to slip away in the confusion. He was clearly terrified of the monster but still shrewd enough to use the chaos as an excuse to dodge paying the 5,000 yuan he owed Shi Ji.

But Shi Ji wasn’t a fool. Noticing the owner trying to flee with the safe, he quickly grabbed him from behind.

“Hey, you brat! What are you doing? There’s a monster here! Run for your life!” the owner shouted, desperate to escape.

Shi Ji couldn’t help but admire the owner’s stinginess. How could someone be so miserly?

“Relax, I’ll deal with it in a minute. But first, the important thing is that you give me the money,” Shi Ji said, gripping the owner by the collar.

“You… you brat! How can you think about money at a time like this? If you die here, what good will money do you? Let go of me!” the owner protested.

“That’s not your problem. Just hand over the cash,” Shi Ji replied coolly.

The owner was truly at his wit’s end. How did he end up dealing with such a stubborn person today?

He tried to break free a couple of times but found that Shi Ji’s grip was far too strong.

Suddenly, the owner’s eyes widened in terror, his face frozen in panic.

At that moment, he let go of the safe and handed it to Shi Ji.

Shi Ji grinned, clearly pleased. He released the owner and grabbed the safe. Glancing down, his face lit up with a satisfied smile. But when he looked up again, the owner had already disappeared into the fleeing crowd.

It was only then that Shi Ji realized he was standing in the shadow of something massive. Something behind him was blocking the sunlight. Judging by the size of the shadow, it was obviously an anomaly.

Shi Ji turned around and saw a grotesque monster, towering about four meters tall. He couldn’t quite tell what kind of creature it was, but it was ugly. Apart from the extra legs, its brownish-yellow body resembled a pile of dung.

“What do you want? I’m busy right now. Go sit over there, and I’ll deal with you later,” Shi Ji said dismissively, his tone dripping with disdain.

Anyone who heard such condescending words would likely feel insulted.

The anomaly, now enraged, swiped at Shi Ji with one of its sharp claws without hesitation.

But just as the claw was about to strike, a flash of cold light cut through the air, effortlessly slicing off the mutant’s extended limb.

“C-Class Hero Regular A is here!!!” a voice shouted.

Before Shi Ji could react, a man dressed like a swordsman appeared in front of him. In his hand was a massive black broadsword, both long and wide.

The man had messy, medium-length hair and tanned skin. His chiseled face was marked with two intersecting scars—clearly battle wounds.

“Don’t worry, brother! I’ll protect you! Let this anomaly scum take a few more of my hits,” the man said, grinning as he charged at the monster with his giant sword raised.
