Chapter 162: The Reason for Getting Stronger
by tinytreeShi Ji’s battles were always swift and decisive, with no wasted movements. After seeing Shi Ji fight so many times, Lin Xinyan couldn’t help but admire him deeply. It was clear that without tremendous strength, he wouldn’t be able to fight like this.
It seemed like he never worried about the consequences of his battles—just like he always said, “Just do it.”
Now, watching Shi Ji effortlessly take down another Nether-level monster, Lin Xinyan still felt a sense of awe.
She couldn’t help but approach Shi Ji and curiously asked, “I’m really curious, how did you become so strong, Shi Ji?”
Shi Ji didn’t think too much about it and casually answered the question.
“Ten kilometers of running every day, 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, and 100 squats. Yep, that’s about it.”
His answer made Lin Xinyan laugh. She couldn’t help but give Shi Ji a playful shove.
“Hey, don’t joke around. I’m being serious.”
After defeating a monster, Shi Ji was in a good mood again, and he had just cracked a joke with Lin Xinyan.
Seeing Lin Xinyan laughing, he chuckled as well.
Afterward, the two of them quieted down, and Shi Ji seriously answered the question.
“I don’t have any secret to getting strong. For me, if I don’t fight, I can’t survive. I’ve lost count of how many battles, big and small, I’ve gone through just to stay alive.”
“You mean you’ve grown stronger through experience?”
“Yeah, I guess that’s what it means.”
Lin Xinyan gave Shi Ji another gentle push, “Hey, what do you mean ‘I guess’? Is it or isn’t it?”
In truth, Shi Ji didn’t really know how he became stronger. What he said was true. He had been forced to go through countless battles just to survive. When all the monsters around him were finally gone, he looked back and realized how strong he had become. So, in summary, he had grown through experience.
It made sense, right? Hmm… kind of like that bald guy. Luckily, I didn’t lose my hair.
Shi Ji couldn’t clearly explain it, so he just kept grinning foolishly.
Lin Xinyan didn’t believe Shi Ji was hiding his method of becoming stronger. His goofy grin was just too genuine.
She sighed, feeling a bit helpless. She had hoped to learn some great method.
“By the way, if you don’t mind, I could be your sparring partner. I think it might help you,” Shi Ji offered.
The idea of having a good sparring partner seemed appealing. Lin Xinyan decided to let go of the matter and didn’t say anything more.
“Alright. Let’s not waste any more time. We should head back.”
The primary task at hand was still dealing with the monsters, so they agreed to leave the other matters for later.
After returning to their designated area, Shi Ji and Lin Xinyan split up according to their original plan.
Shi Ji didn’t really need to dwell on these things. But after Lin Xinyan asked him that question, he started thinking carefully about the source of his strength as he walked around.
Was it really as simple as “Just do it”?
‘Wait! Could it be that I, like the bald guy, broke through some sort of limiter?’
But then, Shi Ji quickly shook his head.
“No, no, it can’t be that far-fetched. Besides boxing, I’ve mastered all sorts of weapons. And I still have my hair.”
As Shi Ji was stuck on this thought for a while, a voice suddenly interrupted his train of thought.
“Useless! You don’t even have a star physique, yet you keep jumping out to mess things up! Are you deliberately trying to make things difficult for us? I’ve warned you several times, and yet here you are again today!”
