Chapter 168: That One Arrow
by tinytreeJing Xin was undoubtedly strong, but even she was shocked by what had just unfolded before her eyes.
One arrow, with such overwhelming power, was simply unbelievable.
She continued staring at the sky, her gaze momentarily dazed.
“Could it have been Black Dragon?”
Black Dragon was technically a Cannon-rank Starborne, but he rarely relied on the powers exclusive to that rank. He preferred the raw sensation of fist-to-fist combat. So even though he was a Cannon-rank, he often fought like a Horse-rank or Elephant-rank, engaging in close-quarter battles.
As soon as she thought of Black Dragon, Jing Xin immediately disconnected her unresponsive call to the Starb Alliance.
Almost at the same moment, she received another call.
She paused when she saw the name on the screen. It was Black Dragon. She hesitated for a second before answering.
“Hey, big guy, can you hear me?”
“Yeah, I hear you. I wanted to ask if that last attack was yours.”
Hearing Black Dragon’s odd question, Jing Xin realized it wasn’t him either.
In Yinshuang City, the most powerful heroes were just a handful of people. Among them, the only two who used a bow were her and Black Dragon. Since it wasn’t her and it wasn’t him, then who could it have been? Was there really an X-rank hero hidden somewhere in Yinshuang City?
This thought made Jing Xin ponder deeply.
The swarm of beasts had been successfully taken out, and the immediate crisis was now over.

Meanwhile, Shi Ji was casually humming a tune as he made his way toward where Lin Xinyan was located.
He was in a particularly good mood, almost as if he had just struck gold.
The reason for this shift in his mood?
Ten minutes earlier…
After being tricked by Jing Xin, Shi Ji had accidentally knocked over an entire row of trees in a panic and fled. But in his frantic escape, he hadn’t been paying attention and ran in the completely wrong direction.
Running along the wrong path, it didn’t take long for Shi Ji to notice signs of battle all around him.
After the fight, many of the buildings had suffered varying degrees of damage. Some high-rises had even collapsed entirely.
The area was desolate. Although the modern atmosphere was still present, the current scene was a far cry from what it once was. The first impression it gave was one of bleakness.
It was hard to believe this was once a bustling city.
Shi Ji walked forward slowly, glancing left and right, as if recalling painful memories from the past.
He continued walking for a little while until, at a crossroads, a voice caught his attention.
“Hey, how are you holding up?”
The voice sounded familiar.
It had a distant quality, calm and subdued, clearly not directed at Shi Ji.
Following the sound, Shi Ji soon saw a few people lying on the ground. Among them was someone he recognized, the Gatekeeper.
The Gatekeeper, along with several others, looked severely weakened. They were all heavily injured, lying limp on the ground, struggling to speak.
It turned out that the injured A-rank hero Jing Xin had mentioned earlier was the Gatekeeper. And the others lying nearby were likely B-rank heroes.
Since Shi Ji and the Gatekeeper were on friendly terms, and he seemed like a decent guy, Shi Ji decided to go over and help.
But just as Shi Ji took a step forward, a figure suddenly jumped down from a nearby high-rise.
Shi Ji stopped in his tracks, and upon closer inspection, he realized it was someone he knew. But this person wasn’t exactly a welcome sight. Dressed like a hunter, yet wearing sleek, futuristic armor, the man held a massive black longbow in his hand, with a quiver strapped to his back.
It was none other than Divine Hunter, the guy Shi Ji had previously beaten up.
Divine Hunter walked toward the fallen Gatekeeper and suddenly let out a mocking laugh.
“Heh! Isn’t this the Gatekeeper? What’s going on here? You got beat up like this? What a pathetic sight.”
Divine Hunter’s words dripped with disdain for the group.
To Shi Ji, it was clear. Divine Hunter was asking for another round of punches.
