Chapter 21: Startling Words

Upon hearing that a new student had transferred from the Star Hero Academy, Lin Xinyan was greatly surprised. The Star Hero Academy was the world’s only highest-level hero academy, a place almost every student from ordinary academies dreamed of attending.

Lin Xinyan herself was a rare Star Hero, but for personal reasons, she chose to study at the ordinary Yinshuang Academy instead of the Star Hero Academy.

This baffled her. She couldn’t fathom why someone would willingly give up the opportunity to study in a higher-standard environment.

“Instructor Jing Xin, who is this new student, and why did they transfer to our academy?”

The girl was especially curious about this new student.

Mentioning Shi Ji made Jing Xin furious. Although she had been called a little girl a few times before, it was rare. Yet, this rude guy repeatedly called her a little girl or a brat. It made her furious. Jing Xin wasn’t easily angered, but since meeting Shi Ji, she had been as angry in one day as she usually was in a year.

Jing Xin’s face showed her displeasure, which didn’t go unnoticed by Lin Xinyan.

“Instructor? What’s wrong?”

Jing Xin snapped out of it. 

“Oh, it’s nothing. That guy… he’s quite the scoundrel. To put it nicely, he transferred here. To put it bluntly, he was expelled from the Star Hero Academy and had no choice but to come here.”

Jing Xin’s words were startling. Lin Xinyan’s eyes widened again. 

Calling it a transfer was a polite of putting it, being expelled was a thorough abandonment of opportunity.

Lin Xinyan wanted to ask more, but Jing Xin spoke again.

“You can ask him the specifics yourself when you meet him tomorrow. Be at the academy gate at eight in the morning. I’ll bring him over. You must be tired from your journey. Get a good rest tonight. There’s plenty to do in the next week. I’ll be going now.”

Since Jing Xin had said this much, Lin Xinyan didn’t press further. She thought it would be better to ask the new student directly tomorrow.

Lost in thought about the new student, she couldn’t help but think of the young man she had encountered earlier.

“By the way, there’s something else I need to tell you,” Jing Xin’s voice called out from a distance.

Jing Xin had stopped and was speaking to Lin Xinyan.

Lin Xinyan immediately stood straight.

“Yes, Instructor?”

Jing Xin smiled meaningfully. “The new guy is very strong. He might even be on par with you. Be prepared.”

“Yes, Instructor!”

After parting ways with Jing Xin, Shi Ji took about half an hour to find the dormitory.

No one managed the dormitory, but using a fingerprint or key card allowed direct entry.

Following the information displayed on his wristband, he quickly found his room.

The room was tidy, with all necessary living supplies. It wasn’t luxurious, but it was perfectly adequate.

Collapsing onto the bed, with nothing to do at the moment, Shi Ji began to check the information on the wristband.

Academy notices could be accessed through it. The wristband had a projection feature, making it very convenient. It was a multifunctional gadget essential for networking, information gathering, and travel.

Moreover, once formally becoming a hero, the wristband could directly receive real-time updates from the Star Hero Alliance.

“Huh? No wonder the academy seemed empty. So they have this practical task at the beginning of the term.”
