    Chapter Index

Fortunately, the Anomaly Monitoring Center issued an early warning, preventing further disaster beyond the current damage to buildings and streets.

The anomaly was wreaking havoc, turning a radius of several hundred meters into ruins. There was no reasoning with it. It wasn’t satisfied with the destruction it had already caused and continued its rampage, heading toward untouched areas.

As it advanced, explosions echoed, and smoke filled the air. The scene was unbearable to witness.

At this moment, the spirit-level anomaly had reached a new area. Its large mouth opened, preparing for another round of attacks.

The light in its mouth grew brighter, ready to unleash a devastating beam.

But just as it was about to fire, a figure suddenly appeared right under the creature’s chin. Without hesitation, the figure delivered a powerful upward kick.

    Bam!

    The kick landed perfectly.

The sudden appearance of a human caught the anomaly off guard. The unexpected attack hit hard, forcing its mouth shut. The energy it had gathered released inside its mouth, causing an internal explosion.

Smoke seeped out from between its teeth.

The person who intercepted the attack flipped backward, landing on the roof of a nearby residential building.

This was a young man in his twenties, with short blonde hair and a handsome face. He wore simple clothes—a white T-shirt and a pair of jeans. However, the most surprising and humorous aspect of his appearance was the flip-flops on his feet. Overall, he seemed quite odd, giving off an impression of casualness.

This eccentric but formidable individual was Feng Ling, one of the few S-rank heroes in Yinshuang City.

Feng Ling had an illustrious record. As a horse-rank star, he specialized in leg attacks and had once single-handedly defeated a spirit-level anomaly. This feat made him widely known and respected.

After becoming a professional hero, his rank quickly rose to S-level.

Upon learning of the spirit-level anomaly’s appearance, he immediately received a notification from the Star Alliance. He then set out with a few other heroes to intercept it. The other heroes lacked his speed and were trailing behind.

With his hands in his pockets, Feng Ling stood relaxed, just a few meters away from the monstrous lizard. Despite the close proximity, he remained calm and composed.

Although Feng Ling had previously defeated a spirit-level anomaly alone, he never underestimated any spirit-level threat. The rank was merely a classification and not a direct indicator of combat strength, though it was generally reliable.

The lizard lay motionless, appearing dead. But Feng Ling knew better. It was just a facade.

The lizard’s head twitched slightly. Its mouth then opened, releasing a large amount of smoke.

Feng Ling’s eyes narrowed. The energy the lizard had gathered earlier was immensely powerful, radiating intense heat even at a distance. A direct hit would have been catastrophic. Yet, despite the internal explosion, the lizard seemed unscathed. This was a cause for concern.

“Finally, a living human,” the lizard rasped, its voice hollow and lifeless.

It lowered its head, gazing at the human who seemed as small as an ant.

“I am Tisila. I have come seeking the one who killed my offspring, Gesila, a few days ago. If you know who it is, tell me, and I may spare your life. Otherwise, I shall level this place.”
