Chapter 37: True Hero
by tinytreeShi Ji was in District Four, and upon hearing the explosions, he leisurely walked in the direction of the noise.
Initially, he was in high spirits because of the wages he had earned. But now, some unknown fool had jumped in to ruin his good mood.
Earlier, he had noticed several figures moving at incredible speeds, either parkouring across rooftops or flying through the air. They looked like heroes, he thought.
Since these so-called heroes had nothing better to do, they had to protect the people, so it made sense for them to be on the move.
With this in mind, Shi Ji didn’t hurry and continued to walk slowly. If he was lucky, he wouldn’t have to intervene. If not, it would be a chance to stretch his muscles.
“Hey! You over there! Stop right there, I’m talking to you!”
As Shi Ji strolled, he heard a female voice calling out to him. The voice was clear and pleasant.
He stopped and turned around slowly, spotting a purple-haired girl in a white dress running towards him. She was attractive.
Shi Ji’s eyes lit up, and he rested his hand on his chin, a smirk forming on his lips. He took in the sight of the girl, particularly noticing her chest.
‘Do girls develop this much nowadays?’
This girl seemed about his age, but her chest… damn, it had to be at least an E-cup, although it was actually a D. Even though her chest wasn’t exposed, the way it bounced as she ran was impressive.
He thought about his friend Lin Xinyan, a very pretty girl with a likely C-cup size. Just the right size, he thought to himself, but then quickly corrected his thoughts.
Shi Ji became serious again as the girl reached him. He wasn’t a pervert. He was just surprised and had looked a bit longer than usual.
He hadn’t thought about why she had called out to him, but the answer was in her words.
The girl, slightly out of breath, began to speak.
“There’s a spirit-level anomaly causing havoc in District Five right now. You shouldn’t go that way. Most people have already evacuated, so why are you still here?”
Shi Ji was taken aback and scratched his nose, responding carelessly.
“Oh, I got lost.”
“Lost? Even if you’re lost, you should have heard the explosions. You need to turn around and get as far away as possible. I have other things to do and can’t stay with you. Be careful.”
The girl spoke with a somewhat commanding tone. At that moment, Shi Ji thought of something.
“Are you from Yinshuang Academy?”
Since there was danger, and this girl was still here, he thought of the academy’s practice tasks and guessed.
Seeing the girl nod, he felt assured.
In times of crisis, a person’s actions can often reflect their true character. This girl was a prime example. Of course, he believed she was here not just for the practice task.
Looking at the girl, Shi Ji smiled softly. He believed she would become an excellent hero someday. Excellence wasn’t just about strength. It was about having enough courage. To him, people like her were the real heroes.
“I understand. Thank you for the warning,” Shi Ji said kindly.
The girl was about to respond when she heard a cry of pain behind her.
“Ouch!”
She turned and saw an elderly person who had fallen at the stairwell entrance.
Without hesitation, she rushed over to help the elderly person up.
When she turned back to where Shi Ji had been, he was gone.
