Chapter 40: Joining Forces
by tinytreeMost people knew Feng Ling’s personality. He was amiable and easy to approach, unlike many other S-ranked heroes who often seemed aloof and superior.
His friendly nature was an asset, but it also posed a problem. Especially in critical moments, he had a habit of chatting and joking around.
Tisila, who had been knocked down earlier, was now back on its feet. If not for Tisila’s voice, Feng Ling might have continued grinning at Lin Xinyan, making conversation.
“So, there are more of you,” Tisila said in a haughty tone. “That last hit was decent, powerful even. But…”
Before it finished its sentence, Tisila’s massive form vanished in an instant.
Everyone was taken aback. Only Feng Ling and Alloy barely glimpsed Tisila’s movement, while the others stood bewildered.
Feeling the rush of air around him, Feng Ling sensed danger and quickly leaped away. As he jumped, he reached out to grab Hong Yao, planning to pull him to safety as well.
However, before Feng Ling’s hand could make contact, a powerful fist struck Hong Yao, sending him flying through the air. Feng Ling had no choice but to evade alone.
Hong Yao’s body was hurled through seven or eight buildings before he finally came to a stop, buried under the rubble, motionless.
With Hong Yao down, Tisila paused its assault. It seemed its primary target had been Hong Yao.
Resuming its earlier statement, Tisila said, “But you’re all too slow. Compared to my strength and speed, you’re as weak as ants.”
Tisila’s speed was astonishing, much faster than even Feng Ling. The earlier blow from Hong Yao had only been possible because of the element of surprise. Now, only Feng Ling and Alloy could somewhat follow Tisila’s movements, while the others were left wide-eyed.
Lin Xinyan noticed the similarities between Tisila and Gesila but could tell Tisila was far stronger. Its power was nearing the level of a Demon-class anomaly.
“Everyone, attack together,” shouted Alloy, the B-ranked hero, as he charged at Tisila.
The others nodded and followed suit.
As Alloy led the charge, Tisila didn’t respond with its usual lightning-fast moves. It stood still, waiting for Alloy and the others to close in.
Alloy struck first, launching a powerful punch enhanced by his energy-powered armor.
Tisila, still underestimating the group, raised its massive claw to block Alloy’s punch. Its eyes widened slightly as it felt the impact.
Alloy’s high-tech armor and enhanced physique granted him significant speed and strength. Although a B-ranked hero, his true abilities exceeded his rank.
Tisila hadn’t expected Alloy’s power to rival that of the muscle-bound Hong Yao, nor had it anticipated Alloy’s speed, which was on par with S-ranked Feng Ling.
While Tisila was busy with Alloy’s relentless assault, Feng Ling and Lin Xinyan flanked it from behind. They focused their attacks on a single spot.
Meanwhile, Xuan Yue and Xuan Xing, the twin heroes, prepared a massive sword array. A giant blue energy sword formed, its light growing stronger with each passing moment.
Aunt Cai stood by the twins, holding her massive, meter-wide chain hammer, ready to strike at the opportune moment.
