Chapter 5: On the Bus
by tinytreeYinshuang City was nestled in the central region of Dragon Country and was one of the five major cities in the country, besides Xiyu. Shi Ji’s destination was precisely Yinshuang.
Originally, Shi Ji was attending a regular high school, enjoying a routine of sleeping in class, sleeping after class, and competing for meals in the cafeteria. He planned to take the college entrance exams in June and attend a university. However, a single incident completely disrupted his life.
He hadn’t wanted to enter the hero academy, but it was mandatory.
After being expelled, he had hoped to return to his old school, study hard, and take the exams in June to get into a prestigious university. However, reality was harsh. Those identified with the star constitution had to study at a hero academy. His trip to Yinshuang was arranged by the Star Hero Academy.
Becoming a hero was never part of Shi Ji’s plan. To him, whether or not one became a hero wasn’t important. What mattered was having the heart to uphold justice.
Uh… Damn, saying that sounds so cringe-worthy and embarrassing.
Honestly, the real reason Shi Ji didn’t want to become a hero was the excessive restrictions. He liked his freedom. Moreover, being a hero didn’t pay. It only gave a sense of superiority. And what was superiority? It was useless. It couldn’t turn into money to buy things. Right now, Shi Ji was most in need of money. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have ended up in that wretched academy.
Shi Ji woke up from his sleep two hours later. He didn’t know where they were now, nor did he know who the person beside him was.
“Huh.”
Shi Ji was startled and slowly turned his head. At some point, the previously empty seat next to him had been occupied.
Smelling a faint fragrance, Shi Ji rubbed his eyes and looked closely at the person beside him.
His expression changed slightly, a mix of surprise and admiration.
Beside him was a girl around his age, very beautiful. Her face had a cherry-red mouth and two gem-like blue eyes that shone brightly, perfectly showcasing her sunny disposition. Her slender eyebrows were well-groomed, complementing her eyes perfectly. Her long silver hair flowed smoothly, shiny and well-kept, just the right length.
The girl stood tall and graceful, radiating youthful charm. Under her black-and-white dress, her chest was slightly revealed, adding a touch of allure. Her white short skirt highlighted her long, fair legs. She wore black stockings and crossed her legs, exuding both freedom and seduction. She also wore a white trench coat, adding a layer of elegance.
She looked poised and natural, just right.
The girl had noticed Shi Ji’s odd attention from the start. Seeing him staring at her, she crossed her arms over her chest, turned her face away, and ignored him with an expression of disgust. This reaction was typical of someone scornfully dismissing a lecher.
Understanding her reaction, Shi Ji quickly averted his gaze, no longer paying her any mind.
Despite the girl’s stunning appearance, Shi Ji wasn’t a lecher.
As he would say, she was attractive but not his type. Besides, was he looking at her just because she was pretty?
No.
He turned his face away, not wanting to engage further, and went back to sleep.
He didn’t know how much time had passed when he was awakened again, this time by noise.
“Anomaly! It’s an anomaly!”
“Look! There’s an anomaly!”
“Where’s the driver? Stop the bus!”
“Damn it, going on a business trip and encountering such a monster!”
“Mommy, it’s a monster! Why hasn’t Ultraman come out?”
Such voices filled the bus, causing chaos and fear. If Shi Ji hadn’t woken up quickly, a big fat guy would have stepped on him.
Shi Ji glanced out the window and saw a huge creature in the distance. Even from this distance, it looked massive. Up close, its size would be unimaginable.
Shi Ji turned back and looked at the now empty seat beside him.
“Huh? Interesting.”
