    Chapter Index

Shi Ji’s heart was filled with anger, burning fiercely. Whichever idiot came up with this ridiculous rule must have been a real jerk.

The promising start to his new life was already hitting roadblocks. How was he supposed to enjoy his days like this?

Staring at the plain white bun, Shi Ji felt a headache coming on. But if he didn’t eat it, he’d be hungry. After a moment, he sighed and took a bite of the bun.

One bite in, it tasted awful, hard to swallow. He picked up the bowl of soup and took a sip.

Damn it! Couldn’t they even afford salt?

The soup was just boiled water with a few leaves, devoid of any seasoning.

At that moment, Shi Ji finally understood the role of the pickles. This simple breakfast had to be eaten together to be remotely palatable.

In the end, Shi Ji ate everything. Why? Because he noticed a sign on the wall that read,

“Wasting food will result in a deduction of two credits.”

With only 60 credits, Shi Ji was already on thin ice. Losing more would be painful. If he lost his credits and couldn’t even get pickles tomorrow, what would he do?

After a few minutes, Shi Ji found his classroom and was about to head upstairs when a delicate voice called out.

    “Shi Ji, come with me.”

Shi Ji recognized that voice immediately.

Without turning around, he responded flatly, “What do you want, brat?”

Behind him stood a short girl in formal attire.

Jing Xin was furious at his tone.

“Shi Ji, is this how you talk to your instructor? Do you want me to deduct your credits?”

Shi Ji knew that this brat was indeed an instructor, but she wasn’t as terrifying as he had imagined. But when she mentioned credits.

“Ahem!” Shi Ji coughed twice, then turned around with a smile. “Oh, Instructor Jing Xin, what can I do for you?”

Jing Xin knew all about Shi Ji’s credits and what he had for breakfast. Seeing his disgruntled expression earlier, she guessed it was due to the cafeteria rules. But who was to blame? Credits depended on the students, not the instructors. Shi Ji had only 60 credits and was suffering because of it.

Seeing Shi Ji’s change in attitude, Jing Xin just snorted softly.

    “Humph! Follow me.”

Thus, led by Jing Xin, Shi Ji followed her to her office.

Jing Xin’s office was tidy, with everything neatly arranged. It was clear she knew how to keep things in order.

As they entered, Shi Ji looked around curiously, wondering what kind of stuff this brat kept in her office.

Despite her mature attire, Jing Xin was just a brat in both looks and personality. Few dared to call her that, especially at Yinshuang Academy. But now, there was one: Shi Ji.

Jing Xin sat behind her desk and saw Shi Ji looking around. She tapped the table lightly.

    “Hey, focus.”

Shi Ji turned his attention to her.

“How am I supposed to focus on that flat runway?” he said without thinking.

The comment hit a sore spot for Jing Xin, making her face flush with anger.

“Shi Ji! If you keep talking nonsense, don’t blame me for being harsh!”

Her embarrassed and angry demeanor, along with her tone, clearly showed her frustration.

Jing Xin had hoped Shi Ji would be more respectful, but she hadn’t expected him to say that.

“When I was young, teachers taught us to be honest. I’m just telling the truth. How is that nonsense?”
