Chapter 72: A Good Start
by tinytreeThe cold ice spear was right in front of her, sending waves of chill into her heart. The girl felt her body weaken and then collapse. Suddenly, she knelt to the ground, her face filled with confusion and helplessness. She felt empty inside, wanting to think about everything but also nothing at all. Rather than feeling empty, it was more like complete chaos.
With a crack, Shi Ji shattered the ice spear in his hand, as if crushing the girl’s prideful heart.
Without saying anything, Shi Ji turned and walked away down the passage.
Xing Yuxiu and the others stood there, dumbfounded, unable to describe what they had just witnessed. Effortlessly facing the ice spear head-on, and recalling what happened with Chi Yang earlier, it was clear Shi Ji had never shown his true strength.
By the time Xing Yuxiu reacted, Shi Ji had already disappeared. He ran out, but couldn’t find any trace of Shi Ji.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the stands, Lin Xinyan had also vanished.
Shi Ji walked through the campus, feeling light and cheerful, wandering aimlessly. He didn’t dwell on what had happened earlier. It wasn’t his problem to think about, but theirs.
After easily defeating Chi Yang, his credits increased to sixty-two. This was a good start. Although it was only two credits, it wasn’t much, but there was plenty of time. Shi Ji believed his credits would soon increase significantly. For the next few days, he’d just have to endure the bland meals.
Of course, Shi Ji initially aimed to improve his credits for better food, but upon learning that credits could be sold for money, his enthusiasm soared.
“Heh heh! My luck is turning around. It looks like I, Shi Ji, might become a rich man someday. Once I’ve made enough money, I’ll leave here as soon as possible.”
“Hey, what are you mumbling about?”
Just as Shi Ji was daydreaming, a familiar female voice suddenly called out from behind, startling him.
Feeling a bit flustered, Shi Ji turned around with an awkward smile.
“Oh, Lin Xinyan, it’s you. Thanks a lot for earlier.”
If it weren’t for Lin Xinyan, those two credits might not have been his. Gratitude was necessary.
This person was Lin Xinyan. She had hurriedly followed Shi Ji after seeing him leave.
Lin Xinyan shook her head, “People see you as carefree, but they don’t realize that when you get serious, you’re incredibly meticulous. People like you are the most dangerous.”
Shi Ji vaguely understood Lin Xinyan’s point and silently admired her keen observation skills.
“Oh, is there something you need from me?”
Shi Ji decided to change the topic, sensing it wasn’t a good idea to dwell on it.
To his surprise, Lin Xinyan just huffed, crossing her arms.
“Hmph! Can’t I just come to find you without a reason?”
“No, no, that’s not what I meant.”
Lin Xinyan knew that, and she was just teasing Shi Ji. She smiled warmly. She found Shi Ji quite interesting.
“I actually did have something to discuss with you. I didn’t expect you to run into such trouble. Now that it’s over, come with me.”
“Where to?” Shi Ji asked.
“Just follow me, you’ll find out when we get there. I also have some questions for you. Let’s go.”
With that, Shi Ji followed Lin Xinyan.
As they left, Shi Ji glanced back at a corner. What he was looking at remained a mystery.
Note: It might be just Shi Ji’s misunderstanding that he can change credits for money.
