Chapter 76: Are You a Pig?
by tinytree“Hey, hey, this food quality disparity is way too much.”
Shi Ji stared at the food in front of Lin Xinyan who was sitting across from him. He swallowed his saliva incessantly. The meat chunks were uniformly sized, the vegetables looked fresh and appealing, the fruit and greens were perfectly plated, and the nutritional balance was excellent. The entire meal was meticulously prepared, representing top-tier quality.
Then, he looked down at his own meal. Stir-fried potato shreds, potato slices, and potatoes stewed with potatoes.
“This is ridiculous. This lousy cafeteria can’t be serious. This is clearly food meant for pigs.”
Lin Xinyan giggled, “Well, it is for you, you big dumb pig. After all, you only have sixty-two credits right now. What I have here is the luxurious one-hundred-and-fifty-credit meal. One credit equals ten thousand yuan, so ninety credits would be nine hundred thousand yuan. The gap in quality is obviously not enough considering that difference. I told you before how important credits are, but you didn’t take it seriously. Who’s to blame for that? You brought this on yourself.”
Hearing Lin Xinyan say this, Shi Ji could only muster a bitter smile. She was right. It was entirely his own fault for not paying attention.
“Speaking of which, as a friend, shouldn’t you be comforting me instead of gloating?”
“It’s precisely because we are good friends that I can tease you so happily.”
Facing Lin Xinyan’s schadenfreude, Shi Ji was speechless. He stared at the food on her tray and suddenly noticed something.
“Hey, Xinyan. I didn’t realize you could eat so much. Are you a pig?”
Lin Xinyan folded her arms, pretending to be annoyed.
“Humph! You’re the pig. This is a case of a dog biting Lü Dongbin, not recognizing a good person. I just thought you looked so pitiful eating nothing but potatoes, so I purposely got extra food. And look at you, calling me a pig. I was being kind, and this is how you treat me. Forget it, forget it. Since you don’t appreciate it, even if I can’t finish it, I’d rather throw it away than give it to you.”
Shi Ji had been single-minded and hadn’t thought about the situation. Now, realizing it, he didn’t want to upset Lin Xinyan further.
Seeing Lin Xinyan stand up with her tray, about to leave, Shi Ji quickly stood up and grabbed her wrist.
“Hey, hey, hey! Miss Xinyan, I was wrong. Don’t be mad, don’t be mad.”
Lin Xinyan blushed as Shi Ji held her wrist. She stayed silent for a long time.
Shi Ji initially found it strange, but then he realized what was wrong. Hastily, he let go of her wrist and took a few steps back.
“Uh… sorry, it was unintentional.”
Lin Xinyan stayed silent for a moment before sitting back down.
Saying she was going to leave was just a joke, but what happened next was unexpected for her.
After what just happened, Shi Ji felt completely awkward. That kind of embarrassment was something he hadn’t felt in a long time.
Fortunately, Lin Xinyan quickly calmed down, her smile dispelling the awkwardness. This allowed Shi Ji to relax.
“All of this is for you. Eat it all.”
Lin Xinyan picked up her chopsticks and transferred pieces of meat from her tray to Shi Ji’s.
Having meat to eat, Shi Ji was delighted. But as his tray filled with meat and Lin Xinyan’s tray had less and less, until there were only a few pieces left, he felt a bit guilty.
“Hey, you don’t have to give me so much. Look, you barely have any left.”
Lin Xinyan shook her head and smiled.
“I’m not a pig, I can’t eat that much. I’m a girl. What if I get fat?”
Shi Ji looked down at the meat on his tray and fell into deep thought.
