Chapter 9: Disadvantage
by tinytreeThe same lizard, but its speed varied drastically from before. Lin Xinyan was greatly shocked. Despite her numerous questions, there was no time to ponder. Gesila’s sharp claw was already upon her, and she had just turned around. In her haste, she pulled her Divine Dance spear to block.
Clang!
She blocked it.
The block was a desperate move, and although Lin Xinyan reacted swiftly, the Divine Dance spear only deflected part of Gesila’s attack, not all of it.
Her clothes tore, and blood stained her right arm. The pain came instantly, and she frowned. Despite the intense pain, her resolve remained firm, and she did not cry out.
Lin Xinyan was clever. After her shoulder was injured, she used the Divine Dance spear to push herself back, creating distance from Gesila again. It was a smart tactic, but she didn’t anticipate that it would be ineffective against the lizard.
She retreated quickly, putting distance between them in a second.
With her shoulder injured, she was at a clear disadvantage. This made her even more focused. As she retreated, she kept her eyes on Gesila.
Just as she landed.
Suddenly, her eyes widened.
“What!”
She was astonished. Gesila had vanished without a trace.
Where is it?
This was the question on Lin Xinyan’s mind.
Every question has an answer, and she soon found hers.
A large figure suddenly appeared in front of her.
Who else could it be but Gesila?
Gesila didn’t attack immediately but grinned triumphantly at Lin Xinyan.
“Heh heh! Do you see the difference in our strength now?”
To Gesila, Lin Xinyan was now just a toy. Solving this early would take the fun out of it. Now free, it intended to enjoy its freedom.
Lin Xinyan didn’t respond, her expression serious and her brows furrowed. Sweat was now beading on her forehead. Despite the pain in her shoulder, she resolutely decided to attack. Her Divine Dance spear glowed and struck quickly. She hoped to push Gesila back.
But Gesila stood motionless, not even bothering to defend.
The spear hit Gesila’s belly, but the thick scales rendered the attack ineffective. The anticipated result did not occur. The lizard was unmoved, laughing as it stood.
Lin Xinyan stepped back lightly, retreating again.
This time, Gesila remained stationary, not chasing her. This was undoubtedly good for Lin Xinyan.
After several rounds of combat, Lin Xinyan finally understood. The term near-Spirit level was an understatement. Given Gesila’s strength, it was clearly a quasi-Spirit level anomaly. She had underestimated the lizard, leading to the current situation. But it was too late for regrets now.
Gesila continued to stand motionless. Lin Xinyan found it strange. She was indeed in a dilemma. Her attacks were ineffective, and retreat was impossible in front of this lizard.
Crack!
Suddenly, a cracking sound came from Gesila. Lin Xinyan clearly saw cracks forming around Gesila’s head.
What was going to happen next?
