Chapter 97: Instant Defeat
by tinytreeThe fight ended before it even began. Many people hadn’t even seen Shi Ji’s move. By the time they reacted, Shi Ji was the only one standing in the arena. The other guy had been blasted into the stands and immediately judged as defeated.
The entire crowd was stunned into silence. The speed of this instant defeat was terrifying.
A few seconds later, someone finally spoke up.
“Hey! Could you cut out the useless talk? You clearly exposed a flaw for this guy to exploit.”
Everyone immediately found this reasoning very convincing. No matter how skilled Shi Ji was, he couldn’t be that unbeatable.
Ling Si also agreed with this assessment, though she still harbored some doubts.
Was that really the case?
“Send in the next one! Don’t be careless this time. This guy is sneaky and looks for surprise attacks.”
“Go for it!”
Amid the shouts from the Class A students, the boy who had been thrown into the stands slowly stood up. His movements were strained, and he didn’t look well.
Xinyan was sitting nearby and could tell the boy was slightly injured.
After regaining his composure, the boy jumped back into the arena. His expression grew serious. Being instantly thrown out was embarrassing, and he was determined to regain his honor.
“You punk, I’ll cripple you this time!”
With a shout, he charged at Shi Ji.
Shi Ji stood his ground, showing no sign of either advancing or retreating. He just waited for the boy to come closer.
Within three seconds, the boy was already in front of him, swinging his three-foot-five longsword.
A confident smile appeared on the boy’s face. Speed attacks were his specialty, and there weren’t many in the entire Yinshuang Academy who could match his speed.
Shi Ji watched the approaching sword, his expression unchanged.
“Ah, this speed is so slow. It’s like child’s play.”
Then, Shi Ji moved his left hand. With a light movement, his middle and index fingers clamped the shiny silver blade effortlessly.
The boy’s confident smile vanished.
“What!!!”
He barely got the word out before he felt a sharp pain in his abdomen. His body tilted back, feeling weightless.
Once again, the boy was sent flying and landed in the stands.
If the first defeat was due to carelessness and a sneak attack, what was the excuse this time? This was a direct confrontation.
“That was a mistake! It must have been a mistake! Come on, stop holding back,” someone shouted.
Everyone had seen what happened. Even though someone claimed it was a mistake, few genuinely believed it.
Soon after, the boy was thrown back into the arena, only to be sent flying a third time.
Three consecutive defeats, each time landing in the same spot in the stands.
Now, any attempts to rationalize it with strange excuses would seem absurd. Three easy victories meant six credits were now Shi Ji’s. He couldn’t wait for more.
Turning his gaze towards Ling Si’s group, he said, “Alright, next one. Let’s not waste any more time. Why not come at me all at once? It’ll be quicker.”
Immediately, a burly boy stepped forward. He was well-built, with muscles visible even through his clothes.
The boy pointed at Shi Ji, “Don’t get cocky, kid. I’m gonna crush you!”
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
The outcome was as expected.
