Chapter 62: King of the Land Lions (part 3)
by tinytreeIn an instant, the powerful aura dissipated from Draxel’s body, disappearing completely. The Lion King could no longer feel that menacing presence.
‘Damn it! Why didn’t you tell me earlier that it only lasted a few minutes, damn it?’
[System Prompt: I told you not to drag it out.]
Draxel punched the Lion King’s face hard, but it felt like scratching an itch to the beast, leaving it unharmed.
Gradually, the King of the Land Lions revealed a ferocious expression, opening its blood-red mouth as if to devour the world.
Seeing this from a distance, Ronnie couldn’t wait any longer and shouted, “Count, what are you doing? Where did your strength go? Give it a fatal blow!”
“Sorry… it’s gone. We might be… never mind, I’ll fight alongside you.”
“You really are… you really fail at crucial moments, Count, you really are…” Ronnie was so angry that she couldn’t speak coherently.
In the blink of an eye, the Lion King swiftly swung its front claws at Draxel, who quickly jumped back to dodge.
Its claw movements were noticeably slower than usual, and its strength seemed diminished, feeling soft and not as terrifying. Fortunately, during the War God possession, Draxel had managed to hit it a few times, leaving the Lion King severely wounded. It wasn’t at its peak, so perhaps they had a fighting chance.
“Count, we must kill it now while it’s still injured. The Lion King’s healing speed is fast. We can’t give it a chance to recover!”
“Alright. I’ll distract it from the front, and you attack it from a distance.”
Draxel willingly took on the dangerous task of baiting the Lion King.
It was impossible to let a woman take the front. But he had no other choice. In terms of dealing damage, Ronnie’s stats were much higher than his, making her far more effective in combat.
“Be careful. I’ll use fire-tipped steel crossbow bolts to hit its weak spots. The Lion King’s vulnerabilities are its eyes and ears. Its ears are already blown out, so I’ll aim to blind it.”
With that, Profit Empress Ronnie pulled out a finely crafted steel crossbow from her back. At her waist was a bag of steel crossbow bolts, their tips soaked in oil, ready to ignite.
“Count, lend me a light.”
“What light?”
“Your Wolf King Sword, can’t it ignite?”
“Only if Lein is present.”
Hearing this, Ronnie shook her head helplessly and said, “You really are useless. We need fire now, otherwise, ordinary steel crossbow bolts won’t hurt it.”
At this moment, while dodging the Lion King’s attacks, Draxel’s mind was racing. He was thinking of how to get a source of fire. There was no way he could start a fire from scratch on the spot.
“There should be matches and candles in my tavern. I think I know where they are, but I need you to lure it out a bit. Otherwise, I can’t get through.”
“Ronnie, that’s easier said than done. It’s an animal, not a person. Even if I danced in front of it, it might not chase me.”
“Pour urine on its nose. It’s the greatest insult to a lion. I guarantee it will go berserk and chase you until it dies.”
“What!? You want me to pull down my pants and pee in front of you? I refuse.”
Draxel blushed immediately, like a shy little boy.
“Stop being so bashful and take them off! Don’t make me pull your pants down for you. This is urgent, and I don’t have time for jokes.”
[System Prompt: Damn it, just do it! It’s not like you have to poop on its head, just pee. What are you afraid of?]
“This… this… fine, fine. Damn it, I can’t believe I’m doing this.”
Draxel reluctantly pulled down his pants, trying to muster the courage to pee on the Lion King’s nose.
[System Prompt: I told you not to drag it out earlier, and now it’s come to this. You brought this upon yourself.]
‘Shut up! If you keep talking, I won’t be able to pee… shh… shh…’
Knowing that Ronnie was right beside him, Draxel felt extremely embarrassed and managed to squeeze out a few drops of urine, though not very smoothly.
However, the Lion King’s sense of smell was incredibly keen. Still reeling from the pain of its burst eardrums and feeling dizzy, it hadn’t noticed what the Count was doing. But it smelled something. It was the scent of urine, right on its nose and cheeks.
Instantly, the Lion King was enraged. This was an utter humiliation.
Roar!!!
It roared almost insanely, using the scent of urine to locate the Count and charged at him.
This surge of anger made it exceptionally agitated, gradually clearing its head, and its dizziness subsided.
After all, this was the Lion King’s dignity.
Dignity, a simple word filled with sacred and inviolable meaning.
Its fierce eagle-like eyes locked onto the Count, and Draxel felt as if he was marked for death. The Lion King’s gaze was terrifyingly intense and malevolent.
“What are you standing there for? Run, Draxel!” Ronnie’s shout snapped Draxel out of his fear and trembling, and he immediately started running for his life.
The Lion King chased after him with incredible speed.
Ronnie seized this rare opportunity and quickly ran to the second floor of the tavern behind the Lion King, where she retrieved matches and candles from her room.
The Lion King’s four legs propelled it much faster than Draxel’s two. Just as it was about to catch up and bite Draxel’s back, “swish!” a flaming steel crossbow bolt flew through the air, piercing the Lion King’s lower left eye socket.
The sudden attack caused the Lion King to miss its target, allowing Draxel to escape its jaws.
Ronnie pounded her chest in frustration and sighed, “Damn, I missed by just a bit. It’s been a while since I used a crossbow. Count, keep going!”
“Keep going… Next time it’ll be prepared. It will endure the pain to bite me. I can only stall it once more. You must hit it with the next shot!”
Draxel knew that he wouldn’t be able to dodge the next attack. He drew his Wolf King Sword and took a defensive stance.
Sure enough, after another enraged roar, the Lion King charged at Draxel with frenzied precision, ensuring that Draxel couldn’t escape.
Draxel didn’t attempt to dodge. He held his breath, forcing himself to stay calm.
