Old Aubrey, mumbling to himself, hurriedly retreated to the kitchen, his belly jiggling with each step, as if he were dancing to a beat.

Typically, in such a situation, Safiya would be expected to cry and leave heartbroken. However, growing up alongside the proud and untamed dragon race, she was not only lively and adorable but also possessed a fierce pride. Without a satisfactory explanation, she wouldn’t let Draxel off the hook today.

“I could’ve shot an arrow through that old man’s heart on the battlefield, avenging Owens, Awang, Xiao Jia, and the other fallen warriors. Right?”

    “Right.”

“Wasn’t it you who asked me to spare him for interrogation because you believed it was necessary? Right?”

    “Right.”

“And then, did you interrogate him?”

“No, I was too busy, I forgot.”

Safiya’s heart was a mix of emotions. Her face was expressionless, but tears streamed down her cheeks, tasting bitter and sour on her lips.

“And you forgot that Owens died for you, didn’t you?”

Draxel was silent. He couldn’t bring himself to say “No.” His face was full of regret.

“Alright. Stay here. I’ll be right back.”

Safiya wiped her tears with her sleeve and returned to her room. Moments later, she reappeared in Draxel’s room.

“This noble robe you gave me is comfortable and soft, but I no longer feel I deserve to wear it. Here, take it back. Perhaps one day, I’ll die wearing it, and its owner won’t even care. In fact, he may have already forgotten.”

With that, Safiya calmly placed the robe on a nearby table.

    “Safiya, I…”

Draxel began to speak, but Safiya held up her hand, signaling him to stop.

She turned to leave. As she reached the doorway of the lord’s hall, she suddenly looked back and said, “I even hoped you would give me a reason, some compelling explanation. Even if it was a lie, just tell me you had no choice but to let him go.”

Ultimately, she saw Draxel as no different from other nobles and kings, engrossed in money, status, and military power, with emotions always taking a backseat, only to be considered in idle moments.

[System Prompt: Your friendliness with Safiya has decreased by -12. Current friendliness: 30.]

[Evaluation: Are you mute? Say something! Stop her! Where’s your usual charm and wit? Hurry up…]

Draxel was at a loss. It was entirely his fault. Would an apology even help? He had no desire to argue with the system, but he stood there, paralyzed with indecision.

“Safiya, I… I…” The words stuck in his throat.

“Forget the beautiful moments of yesterday. I’ll let go of them too. I’m going back to the Abyss Mountains. The dragon was right. The outside world… is nothing but a joke.” Safiya forced a bitter smile and ran out without looking back.

‘Forget? How could I? We practically sealed it with a kiss. There’s no way I could forget.’

Draxel reached out, wanting to hold her back, but his legs felt weak and wouldn’t move.

Lein, not far away, saw the whole scene and got incredibly anxious. “Roar! You useless, stupid man! Why are you standing there? Chase after her! You’re really gonna let her go back to the mountains? It’s dangerous out there!”

After a few seconds of hesitation, Draxel stomped his foot and sighed, then hurriedly ran out.

But this clumsy guy, how could he outrun Safiya? As soon as she exited the lord’s hall, she mounted her horse and dashed towards the town gate.

Draxel, with only a level 1 riding skill, had no chance of catching up. Seeing the distance between them grow, Draxel shouted,

“Guards, close the gate! Close the gate!”

The guards at the gate, hearing their master’s command, immediately moved to lock the iron gate, but then faced a threat from Safiya.

“If you dare close that gate, I’ll shoot you where it counts!” Safiya said, aiming her arrow right at the guard’s crotch.

“If you don’t close that gate, I’ll chop you where it counts!” Draxel retorted, brandishing his Wolf King Sword towards the same unfortunate area.

The guard silently cursed, “Damn it! You two fighting has nothing to do with my privates! What did my little buddy do to deserve this? He’s still young.”

Caught in a dilemma, the guard froze, not knowing what to do. In that moment of hesitation, Safiya had already galloped through the gate.

“Damn it, kid, you wait till I get back! I’ll teach you the true meaning of Mount & Blade. No, I mean, what it means to be gelded,” Draxel glared at the guard, sighed helplessly, and ran through the gate after her.

But he was already far behind Safiya, barely able to see her in the distance.

“Safiya, my noble Princess Safiya, stop running! I know I was wrong! I’m sorry!” Draxel shouted, knowing he couldn’t catch up.

But Safiya didn’t respond to his call.

[System Notice: Keep shouting! She’ll definitely soften up!]

    ‘How do you know that?’

[System Notice: Hey, women… Most of them are like that. Haven’t you ever been in a relationship? Trust me, keep shouting! Say something new! Don’t just repeat the same lines!]

‘Alright, alright, let me think of something.’

[Author’s Note: Oh, please. Stop thinking. By the time you come up with something, the Chinese men’s soccer team will have made it to the World Cup finals. What use are you!? Let me help.]

“Hey, Safiya! Stop running! If you get tired, I’ll feel terrible! Today, I’ll find Noyan Turug and bring him back. Then I’ll kneel beside him, both of us naked, letting you do whatever you want. I deserve this. I know I was wrong!”

This seemed to work. Though Safiya didn’t look back, her pace visibly slowed.
