Chapter 193: Submission
by tinytree“Xiang Wentian, are these the men you’ve trained?” Wan Caixuan’s face was expressionless as her gaze landed on the team leader standing beside her.
Under Wan Caixuan’s piercing gaze, Xiang Wentian felt immense pressure, especially with her emotionless eyes chilling him to the core.
“I apologize, Miss. It’s my fault for not disciplining them properly,” Xiang Wentian admitted reluctantly. “However, it’s natural for the members to feel reluctant when an outsider is put in charge.”
“Are you questioning my order?” Wan Caixuan’s voice became even colder.
“Not at all.”
Xiang Wentian stiffened, snapping to attention. He turned and shouted at the others, “Lift your heads up, stand tall! What’s wrong, didn’t you eat enough? Continue like this, and you’ll have me to answer to.”
With their leader’s admonishment, the seven members of the White Night Squad finally looked alert, standing tall and straight, though their eyes still brimmed with skepticism and disdain toward Lin Xiao.
Lin Xiao watched with detached interest, convinced that despite their training and equipment, this White Night Squad had never faced real combat. They might be elite by the standards of underground forces, but to seasoned soldiers, they were nothing but a disorganized mob.
Wan Caixuan, intelligent as she was, surely saw this too.
A flicker of resolve crossed her eyes as she turned to Lin Xiao, “I’ll leave them to you. Handle them however you see fit, without worrying about my opinion.”
“Fine,” Lin Xiao responded succinctly, then stepped out of the Rolls-Royce.
He approached the White Night Squad with an air of ease. His unremarkable physique and calm demeanor made him appear just like any other driver. Nothing special at all.
Seeing Lin Xiao’s demeanor, the White Night Squad members’ disdain intensified. To them, how could such a person possibly be qualified to lead them? They believed they could easily knock him down with just one hand.
As Lin Xiao approached, his gaze swept over their faces, and suddenly said, “A bunch of trash.”
“What did you say?”
One member, particularly irked by Lin Xiao, instantly flared up, and the rest glowered at Lin Xiao with anger.
“I said, all of you are trash,” Lin Xiao enunciated each word deliberately.
“What right do you have to say that about us?” another member challenged, losing his cool.
“Don’t believe it? Try me,” Lin Xiao gestured toward the speaker. “You all seem to have a problem with me, right? Here’s your chance to challenge me. Come on, don’t waste time.”
“I’ll take you up on that!”
The member who first spoke handed off his gun to a teammate, stretched his limbs, and stepped forward to face Lin Xiao. Tall and muscular, he exuded immense strength.
“My name is Mo Yuanqing. Remember it, because I’ll be the one to defeat you.”
“Talk is cheap. Let’s see if you can back it up,” Lin Xiao responded with a slight smirk, which only further aggravated the others. “Go on then, show me what you’ve got. Let’s see how impressive you really are.”
Fueled by rage, Mo Yuanqing let out a low roar and lunged at Lin Xiao, aiming to grab his shoulders.
But just as his hands were about to make contact, he suddenly felt as if the ground beneath him vanished. Before comprehending what happened, he landed heavily on the ground with a thud.
Not only was Mo Yuanqing clueless about the turn of events, but even the observing members of the White Night Squad failed to grasp what had just occurred.
“Is that the best you can do?” Lin Xiao’s voice rang out, filled with scorn.
Mo Yuanqing, driven by a mix of rage and embarrassment, sprang up from the ground in a swift motion and charged at Lin Xiao once more.
Yet another muffled sound echoed as Mo Yuanqing found himself on the ground again, landing in the exact same position as before.
“Come on then.”
Lin Xiao gestured with a tilt of his chin toward Mo Yuanqing, who lay on the ground.
With his teeth gritted, overwhelmed by a sense of deep humiliation, Mo Yuanqing rose from the ground. This time, he approached Lin Xiao with more caution, not as hastily as his previous attempts.
However, the result was still the same as before.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
“…”
Mo Yuanqing couldn’t recall how many times he had gotten back up. He only knew that every time he did, he would be thrown down by this devil-like man.
Without mercy!
Without pity!
It was then that Mo Yuanqing realized that his once-prided strength meant nothing before this man. His body felt as fragile as a straw man under this man’s grip.
With each fall, Mo Yuanqing’s strength, along with his dignity and confidence, dwindled.
The White Night Squad members watched in utter silence, their teeth clenched, fixating on Lin Xiao’s figure.
Despite the numerous falls of Mo Yuanqing, Lin Xiao’s expression remained unchanged, always detached, always serene.
‘This demon!’
Witnessing Mo Yuanqing being thrown down time and again, they no longer dared to underestimate Lin Xiao.
Though proud, they were not foolish. It was apparent to them that Lin Xiao’s strength far surpassed theirs. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been possible for him to effortlessly toy with Mo Yuanqing, the strongest among them.
They wanted to intervene and stop Lin Xiao, but a mere glance from him froze them in place, rendering them incapable of stepping forward.
“Enough!”
When Lin Xiao once again sent Mo Yuanqing tumbling to the ground, Xiang Wentian, the leader of the White Night Squad, could no longer contain his frustration and gritted out, “If Mo Yuanqing is no match for you, why must you humiliate him like this? He’s still a warrior after all.”
Mo Yuanqing, gasping for breath and covered in mud, attempted to rise from the ground, but his limbs failed him, causing him to collapse once more.
“Before he chose to challenge me, he should have considered this outcome.” Lin Xiao turned toward Xiang Wentian, raised an eyebrow, and retorted, “Team Leader Xiang, have you only now remembered that you are warriors?”
Xiang Wentian’s complexion shifted, and he averted his gaze from Lin Xiao’s penetrating stare.
“Since you know you are warriors, then don’t forget whose warriors you are.”
Lin Xiao’s voice grew colder, his gaze sharper, “Where does your equipment come from? Who provides for your food? Who trained you into warriors? Whose orders should you be following?”
The shame was evident on the faces of the White Night Squad members upon hearing Lin Xiao’s words.
“You are Wan Caixuan’s warriors. Your only duty, the only action expected of you, is to obey Wan Caixuan’s commands without question or hesitation, and to clear any obstacles in her path,” Lin Xiao’s gaze, sharp as a blade, swept over each member, piercing deep.
In the darkness, Lin Xiao’s voice, cutting and uncompromising, continued, “You have not lived up to your responsibilities as warriors. To Wan Caixuan, you are currently worthless. When she faced danger, where were you? When she was the target of an assassination, where were you? When she needed you the most, you were resisting her commands. Is it wrong to call you useless?”
Silenced by Lin Xiao’s words, no one dared to contradict him any longer. All heads were bowed in deep shame, voices silenced.
